  • Haha, thanks Carol! If only I could stand to listen to myself. I decided to start ticking off my days of good eating, this year. I marked off as many as I could remember, but just couldn't figure out any of February. I'm pretty sure I did pretty well, and probably only slipped up a couple of days, but I left them blank.…
  • So, we went to my wife's grandmothers yesterday. We weren't sure what she had to eat, so I brought along some compliant leftovers. When we got there, she had oreos and jalapeno cheez itz on the counter! Those are two of my favorite snacks, and I haven't had either in forever. I was able to resist, but MAN I wanted them.
  • Thanks, Heron! I've recently just started thinking of it like Carol. Whole Whatever-day-I-Make-It-to, and restart immediately after a slip or treat. But, for the time being (and probably at least another 20lbs) I'd like to keep the slip/treats spread out as much as possible. I would really like to say I did it for another…
  • Okay, confession time! I had a pretty rough weekend, food-wise. I was busy helping my step dad reroute their sewer, and I was sort of stuck with whatever my mom had cooked, so I had spaghetti (with pasta). That started a downward spiral! Last night, I had chocolate chip pancakes for dinner, and I'll just leave it at…
  • In the Boy Scouts, we were always told, "If you're feeling thirsty, it's too late. Keep drinking even if you aren't." Some summer camps even said that they wanted us to have to use the restroom between each class. So, Carol stuck to the Whole 30! Congrats! Who got her beer? ;)
  • Hey, Kevin, welcome back. I know what you mean about noticing things that had gone away. I got away from eating clean for a few weeks, and I suddenly had a ton of acne that had mostly gone away since eating better. Now, after this last week of doing well, it seems to have gone again. It's nuts how stuff really does affect…
  • I BOMBED on my Whole30, yesterday! I got trapped or mother's day, and had fried fish, french fries, banana pudding, lasagna, corn and a weird cake. Luckily, I had a salad, at least, but it had cheese! Staring over today.
  • Heron, I nailed it this morning! I got two perfectly runny eggs. I've very happy with it.
  • Cool, I didn't know they came 2 ways the first time I got them, and just grabbed one that happened to have bones. It was super annoying trying to debone a fish smaller than my finger.
  • Jen, I tried sardines a couple of times before. They are pretty good. I had them in a salad. The thing to watch for is bone-in or bone-out. They say the bones are okay to eat (I think) but it adds an awful texture to it. Like some woody veggies get fibrous when you chew them.
  • I tried my hand at poaching eggs at work. We have a coffee machine that puts out ridiculously hot water, so I thought it might be enough. When it wasn't, I poked a hole in the yolk and microwaved it for about 30 seconds. It didn't come out runny, like I had hoped for, but it worked! Now to adjust the time to keep it runny.
  • Your food doesn't have to be boring! Try some of my favorites: Breakfast Skillet (I use 1lb bfast sausage for the meat) http://www.paleocupboard.com/breakfast-skillet.html Chicken Cattiatore http://paleomg.com/chicken-cattiatore-with-grilled-veggies/ Italian Meat Sauce (I use one more can of tom sauce to make it a little…
  • I just found a new recipe site for the Whole30 gang. It's a Paleo site, but they don't seem to like to use the honey and other natural sweeteners that a lot of other people do, so it's Whole30 compliant! http://paleoleap.com/
  • Hey everyone. I'm just here to check in. Haven't participated in a while. I'm taking part in this latest Whole30. I REALLY needed it! I've been eating like doodoo and feeling like it, because of it. I am up about 8 pounds from my lowest since high school. But, I'm still at a net loss for the year. I cooked a couple burger…
  • Doing well. I know it sounds dumb, but I've needed new shoes for a while, and walking for exercise was getting pretty tiring to my feet, so I stopped. I finally bought a new pair, so I went for a walk at work, just now.
  • John, I'm still on Day 10. Well... I forgot about my rice accident, so I guess I'm on Day 5.
  • Papa John's is good. I'd have a hard time passing it up, too.
  • I tried making some sweet potato chips. They didn't work out too well. They tasted good, but didn't crisp up, like I wanted them to. I'm going to give them another try.
  • Sweet potatoes are awesome! They're very versatile. You can make sweet and savory dishes with them. You can cook them just like regular potatoes, too. cut them into fry-like pieces, then bake or shallow fry them. Salt and pepper, and you're good to go. I REALLY like to make this breakfast skillet with them. It calls for…
  • Kevin, you can have white potatoes, which surprised me! I still tried to not eat them, because I was so used to doing that. Delay and distract is a great tactic. I usually grab a bottle of water. That usually does the trick. If it's too far away from one of my normal feeding times, I'll get a cup of coffee (BLACK!!), and…
  • John and Jen, I was actually just eating one as I read your comments! They're really good. John, I guess I'll have to just watch it with that Tennessee BBQ! Thanks for the support.
  • Great choice, Kevin!
  • Dang, I just realized that the Whole30 won't be done until after NRA! Darn you John. Making this a real challenge! Haha. That'll be the true test.
  • These are a really good, quick breakfast. They're called cookies, but their more moist, like a fruit cake, or something. Breakfast Cookies Ingredients:* ¼ cup coconut flour * ½ cup almond butter * 6 pitted dried dates, soaked in warm water for 15 minutes * ¾ cups shredded coconut * ½ cup unsweetened applesauce * 2 medium…
  • Hey everyone. It's been a while since I posted, but I'm still here! I'm doing John's Whole30, right now and we're on Day 3. So far, so good. I made some breakfast cookies, to have a quick breakfast. They have coconut, applesauce, raisin, dried cherries, and nuts. I'll post the recipe in the recipe thread.
  • Day 1, meal 1 was almost a bust. We didn't go shopping, so my options were limited. I ended up eating a couple scrambled eggs and some leftover steamed veggies with lemon pepper. Kindof a wierd breakfast, but whatever works!
  • Just bumping this back up, for everyone to see.
  • I did a little splurging today, and had cinnamon rolls. Tomorrow will be a fresh start.
  • I signed up for the emails, and they were nice to read, but probably not necessary. I read them all up until about day 20 or so, then I just stopped for no real reason other than not feeling like it. I think it's $15 for the whole month of emails, but you can sign up for a weekly one for free.
  • Kevin, you gave me an idea. I think I'm just going to keep a bunch of tuna fish at work, for emergency lunches. I like to dump it on a salad. I might try it with Jalapeño mayo.
