I love the taste of almond milk, but I guess it depends on how much you're counting on your milk nutritionally. You can get almond milk that goes as low as 30 calories, but if you're depending on the fat and protein in your milk you won't get it with almond. That stuff can be made up for in other places, so it just depends…

Their meat has meat in it! Gross!

I started strength training during C25K and it absolutely helped my running speed and stamina. I thought that it would bog me down, but I found myself increasing my pace every run. This is assuming that you'll be working out your lower body. Squats and deadlifts did the trick for me.

My wife is in the same place, our son will be six weeks old tomorrow and she hates her stretch marks. I don't care though, as others have said they're battle scars from pushing out our beautiful beast of a boy, who was over ten pounds at birth. I know that they'll fade over time, but I couldn't care less. She'll always be…

Same thing happened to me. As soon as I started lifting heavy it was like someone flipped a hunger switch. I'm eating at a deficit to lose weight, but on lift days when I get really hungry I'll let myself eat around maintenance. I figure that my body knows what it needs.

SHE is not a protein powder fan. Could have been confusing.

I quit a few months ago, so glad that I did. I drink so much more water now, my body is loving it. There are some non-aspartame diet sodas out there sweetened with stevia, I have one of those now and then when I'm craving the carbonation. Club soda with juice is another good way to go.

The results are in - it's good! I got the "natural chocolate" flavor, which is sweetened with stevia. It's pretty damn sweet, and tastes good. My wife even likes it, and he's not a protein powder fan.

truenutrition.com is awesome, they let you pick whatever kinds of protein mix you want. I just ordered a pea/rice/hemp mixture that should be waiting for me when I get home. I'll let you know how it tastes.

I've never actually met a preachy vegan, and most people who complain about them probably haven't either.

You won't gain any weight from strength training unless you up your calories, but you also won't gain as much strength from it. Lifting while eating at a caloric deficit will keep your current muscles intact though, instead of breaking them down along with fat. So it's a good idea, and when you get down to your goal weight…

Looks awesome, I've been trying to get more avocados into the diet. I made an avocado/banana pudding yesterday and found an awesome raw chocolate frosting recipe that's avocado based. Plus I just throw it on any sandwich I can. I'll give these pancakes a try, the protein is a big plus!

I pack a spinach salad loaded up with black beans, garbonzo beans, tomatoes, shredded carrots and whatever other veggies I have around. You can throw in meats or cheeses if you're into that, but I find that the beans really bulk it up and keep me full for a while.

I was wondering the same thing, found true nutrition last night. Seems like all of the reviews are positive. I'm thinking of going with a rice/pea/hemp blend.

The Starting Strength program seems to be a very popular choice, I just started it last week. You can get the book for pretty cheap on Amazon. It consists of alternating workouts of compound lifts.
-
Haha meal inception. I do the same sometimes with a protein bar and dinner. Thanks - been loading up on the protein. Loving the cliff builder bars in addition to my meals.
-
Thanks, I'm definitely cool with it. I still have lots of fat to burn but I eat pretty damn clean.

Cue "Pomp and Circumstance", I'm a graduate! On to starting strength, combined with my running. I have some 5ks lined up this summer, looking forward to being super active.
-
Awesome! I'm so close to the 210s now, I hit 221 today. It's always so nice to see that new number in the ten spot.
-
Listen to your body and you'll be fine. The only thing it could hurt is strength training recovery, but even then 3 miles isn't going to hurt you too much. If you do any lifting make sure to do it on an off day, or at least after your lifts and not before.
-
Yeah you'll be shocked at just how ready you are for each run. When the runs get longer they seem insane, even impossible, yet you'll (normally) be able to knock them out. When I first saw w5d3 I was like "No f'n way!", but was able to get it done without much trouble. Great job so far!
-
That's great, don't worry about the time though. That'll increase. The important thing is that you busted your *kitten* and ran for such a long time.
-
I save them for my runs to keep them from wearing out. They're kind of like my running uniform. When I throw them on I mean business. When I get a new pair I'll sometimes use the old pair day to day, since they might still be comfortable but not in running shape.
-
That's fantastic, one of the best progress pics I've seen. Great work.

After some post-workout hydration

Almond is the bee's knees. Tastes great and you can get a 30 cal per serving carton if you go unsweetened.

WOOOO! Let's kick some *kitten*!
