  • I don't cook as I normally would...my husband or whoever will eat what I'm eating. However, my grandma is 99 lbs.... She's recently list too much weight. It's been hard here with her trying to get her eating more and myself less. I made her dark chocolate, peanut butter, almond butter, coconut and honey cookies which…
  • I moved 8 months ago from the US to one of the thinnest countries in the world. Not only that but one that is especially occupied with appearances and plastic surgery is considered a norm, even for HS students. As far as weight... living here has amplified my feelings. I joined Curves gym (there are many gyms here but I…
  • Did anything get better? I know you are most likely still at the school. Even though I am not small, thankfully I can't understand much of what they say and even if I did I have lost weight while here out of sheer will due to the culture being like this here. I still feel as though it is never enough because I can barely…
  • Let me rephrase this...I just asking for advice on what to do instead of fast when you have limited time. IE cutting out all the bread and white rice (the latter is served at every meal here). I've been trying to be on a plan- slow and steady - have lost 8-9 kgs ... I met my first goal but the goal of the in-body check /…
  • Well I figured it would be brought up on the "waygook" board for foreigners but not so much here. Interesting.... can you point me in their direction (or the thread)? I'm always looking to chat with those with similar experiences over here.
  • Wait...I never said it was "racism". Any American can be larger... even Korean American. It's "sizism" if anything... There are no statistics on North Korea. Yes, it's the highest here (and I knew this... even though winter in particular makes me depressed). They combat it by motion sensors and posters of "happy families"…
  • I've actually had it easy compared to some... I think it's mainly the plastic surgery culture (highest amount in the world) along with the media... "whose the new Kpop star on the "3 cup diet"? "He lost weight by eating only 2 tofu blocks a day and got famous." that drives me insane here... Funny thing is they're very big…
  • I wasn't saying I was miserable, and I go to a lot of things... although I am outside of Seoul I've gone there for Halloween, went to a zombie walk, been to 2 free Kpop concerts, etc. That isn't my problem. This just isn't a great place for people who tend to be insecure, have a history of yo-yo dieting or depression....…
  • Looks good...and I don't normally eat burgers lol ...keep hearing about those though. How was the mochi? Not really a fan of red bean stuffs though.
  • Some days I eat 1200 calories...I really don't want to lower it even more. However, when I go higher I tend to just work out more which is a bad habit and doen't really compensate. I was thinking that, I am not a beginner anymore... I did work out in the US too at a gym by myself. There are other gyms. I will have to wait…
  • LOL...I shoulda put it in too, forgot!
  • Age: 32 Height: 5'5.5'' Heaviest: 170 Current: 152-154lbs Goal: 125...though that depends on how I look/feel.
  • Sorry to burst any lingering bubble, but that is mostly a myth. Did you try taking more accurate measaurements? You can lose inches without losing weight.
  • Yes... but veggie side dishes are very complex here. I've stuck to learning the names of the dishes and then trying to look them up in 한글 and if that fails, in English. I also don't know their cooking methods, how much oil or gochujang (red pepper paste) is being used, etc.
  • Good idea....the nearest US bases are pretty close, I go near there if I want Mexican or "American Style" food anyway...
  • I just had a normal breakfast / lunch ... however I'm not sure what tonight's meal will consist of as I'm outta the U.S. on Thanksgiving for the first time ever...
  • So the InBody machine (bioelectrical impedance scale) at my gym is not the best most accurate method... but it's what i've got.
  • I'm going to try my best even if my gym is closed by the time I get home...I can do cardio and use my dumbells and fitness ball.
  • For that I will probably need to learn to cook Korean food myself. Some of the vegetables aren't even known to me... I've been trying to guesstimate the calories based upon dishes posted to MFP already... but it's been a really rough estimate. Also, I have no idea how big each area on the metal school trays actually is.
  • This is interesting. I normally don't trust OTC "diet pills" This is "prescription only"? What is th weight minimum? I am close to my target but still considered "overweight". I have lost 16-18lbs myself through exercise and attempting to diet - however I don't often know what's in my food as I'm in a foreign country where…
  • Friday - weigh-in day at my gym.... not fun, haven't ate much today, no simple carbs, just yogurt, fruit, soup, some milk in my coffee.... Don't care about the weekend much...just trying to get through the next few hrs...wish I didn't buy all the Pepero (Pocky which is buscuit sticks with chocolate or sweet yogurt and…
  • My height is 5' 5.5" I'm at 150 now and all my 8's are lose fitting except for one. I guess I need a 6? I have a 6 that is fitting but an 8 that is too small. I was 168 a few months ago... and about an 8/10. My goal is to fit a specific pair of pants... but they are from Japan and there are no sizes there really, well this…
  • I've learned to substitute a lot being in Korea...You can just use shredded chicken if you don't have ground chicken or turkey. Also, there is no sour cream so we mix a bit of vinegar into yogurt (usually greek) and it comes out great. Believe it or not I did find corn tortillas... but restaurants here (by the Base or in…
  • Yes, that does makes sense. I guess I'm just the type that likes to follow things to the tee. lol I should have clarified...I have been eating this amount for a week or so. And before that I had been exercising more often. I am losing some weight as this is the highest I have ever been... I've seen a couple lbs come off.…
  • I agree with those that said smoothies. I juice everything. I know I am losing much of the fiber and good minerals, so I try and mix some of the resulting pulp into whole grain breads. I really don't like carrots, celery, beets, etc... but in juices they all go well with some apple, lemon and ginger. If I need some protein…
  • What is a closet smoker? I wonder what would happen to someone who tried all his diets / pills one after another... their bodies would probably go into shock.
  • Hmm I had a friend who's screenname was paleoasian and he was always energetic and running around kicking things, plus he had abs... so I found a forum for it (sorry cannot share here as part of another site) but never really knew the principles of it. However, sometimes when he was broke he'd eat saltines... only. I guess…
  • Well, I think most misunderstood...I'm afraid that I'm at that plateau because I never get below 150lbs on any diet. I am not currently on a plan, just using MFP so I am scared I'll hit that wall now. I will continue what I am doing just change up the excersize... 30 mins on treadmill, 30 on bike and 30 on elliptical can…
  • I think we're in the same boat... mine is since Jan... when I joined. But I left for a bit and got back into it now. I was thinking of trying Jillian's program out on youtube, so now I will... need to switch it up.
