CURVES gym

I joined one here in Korea because I heard the other gyms in town didn't have air conditioner (it was late spring), and I don't have much room in my studio apt... however they don't have the "Jillian Micheals" program or other classes like the ones in the states. However, I have heard some people say that this gym is only good for beginners. I don't think it's gotten "Easier" persay in the last 5 months or so that i've been there, but it hasn't really been difficult to begin with. I have sometimes gone longer than the "30 minute sessions" (really 24 min circuit plus stretching) by going around the circut one or two extra times. Sometimes I vary it on the stepper (did jumping jacks and burpees) but everyone stares at me and the owner even said "level up?!"... makes me uncomfortable changing it up when everyone here is about working within the team/group. I have lost 16-18lbs but I am at my low or plateau weight ( you don't need to tell me I'm setting my self up for failure by saying that...I know.)...and so I wonder what I need to add to the workout to keep losing/toning. Also, I like that I can have my BMI and BMR calculated for me along with weight. I can tell when i'm losing or gaining muscle as opposed to fat.

Would anyone take their Protein or slimming shakes? I have the Choco protein one ( I think the formula is different here) .... but don't use it too often anymore. Tastes ok... requires milk, others just add water.

Your calorie intakes drops as you lose weight--have you recomputed the numbers to see if you need to adjust that way?

You may have outgrown CURVES and might need a gym with more than CURVES circuit training if you want to progress in preserving lean body mass and set yourself up to build muscle later. Lifting heavier weights may help you. Is that an option where you are?

Some days I eat 1200 calories...I really don't want to lower it even more. However, when I go higher I tend to just work out more which is a bad habit and doen't really compensate.

I was thinking that, I am not a beginner anymore... I did work out in the US too at a gym by myself. There are other gyms. I will have to wait until my 7 months are up at CURVESas I can't afford two gyms right now. I will have to get over my hang-ups about all the ajushis (older men) being there though...they seem to be the only ones at the gyms here...

I'm not a fan of Curves myself but if it were the only air conditioned gym in town I'd try to make do, cuz I know I simply wouldn't go to one without AC. Maybe when your time at Curves is up find out for sure about the other gyms?

The less people around me, male or female, the better, so I go the hour before my gym closes when it's pretty empty and that way also never have to wait for a machine and always get my favorite bench.

I definitely wouldn't go below 1200. How tight is your logging? Are you weighing your solid foods on a food scale and measuring your liquids?
