I am Tina, married to an American and living in Ohio. I have 3 kids, ages 14, 16 and 18.

I am in Findlay, Ohio.

I totally agree about Hachi! It was so sad! But the scenes of Richard Gere and the dog playing together are really beautiful.
Same here! Except that I ate almost DOUBLE my maintenance... With a molten lava cookie mountain, half a container of Speculoos (Lotus) Caramel Biscuit flavored ice cream, and pizza.
Off topic, I realize... but would you please share where you got that ice cream? We lived in Belgium for a year and Speculoos…

I'm from Greece too. I would love to hear more about everyone's progress!

You sound like a good dad! This made me smile.

I have been craving cookie dough... so i tried making the 'healthy' recipe with chick peas that has been going around... I thought it tasted awful... then I realized I should just make the real thing and plan for it, and enjoy it. I bought the ingredients and planned for it all week and today was the day; I even worked out…

One thing that helped me was to identify my worst times for binge eating... such as late at night when I watch a TV show (I was snacking and eating a lot). Some nights I just go to sleep earlier... some nights I paint my nails while watching so my hands are occupied, or 'multitask by browsing on my laptop while I watch...…

I find that I have to plan what I will eat and basically log my food before I even eat it, so I can make sure I'm staying under my calories. Also, drinking water... so much water...

Good for you! And you look great. Two of my kids are into cosplay so our family goes to a lot of cons. :)

One of the greatest helps in our efforts to get (and stay) fit is surrounding ourselves with like-minded people. But it's not always possible! I live in Texas... where chips, queso dip and deep-fried-everything are served at most gatherings... and the majority of my friends do not care one bit what they eat or weigh. I…

This thread is proof of why MFP is such a tremendous help! The community... the love and concern people have for each other... the encouragement! I am 45 and lost about 35 lbs two years ago and am working on a few more... it is awesome to have so much good advice and support!

Thanks for sharing your story! It's very inspiring.

In my experience everyone is looking for some magic solution, and when I tell them that they way I am losing weight is through exercise and eating fewer calories... their eyes glaze over and they lose interest! I don't know of any other way, though.

That's so incredibly mean! Like you alluded to, a stupid comment can hurt someone for the rest of their life! At any rate... I understand what you mean about fluctuations in body image. One day I can wear an outfit and feel like I look great, and then another day that same outfit looks awful! What in the world? Also...…

I have an obsession with my chin and neck area - I have a double chin and when I'm a few pounds overweight, it's a lot worse. Years ago when I was in college, someone said to me, "where's your chin? You don't even have one!!" (What does that even mean...?!) I've never really gotten over it. Anyway, some days I feel like I…

That is WONDERFUL! Congratulations!!

Hahaha, you guys posted some great ones... I was thinking more along the lines of how there is so much unhealthy food that is SO CHEAP... and the stuff I really should be eating costs a lot more than I want to spend! I buy it anyway, though.

we ALL should bring some chalk with us all the time!
That is GREAT!

I don't wear it at the gym, or while sleeping or showering or washing dishes!

Wow, it definitely seems tacky to write on the tip line "Single Mom, Sorry"! If you're going to go out to eat, you should figure in the tip as well as the actual cost of the meal - otherwise don't go out.

I feel embarrassed of some piles of papers that I keep meaning to deal with...and lots of photos and memorabilia that I keep meaning to scrapbook but will probably NEVER get around to. And, I hardly ever clean behind my refrigerator. I'm sure it's pretty dirty back there. On the surface my house LOOKS really clean and…

If you stick to this and really see it through, your wife will notice and be impressed. Just keep at it, rather than talking about it. I did this with my husband (in the past I had started working out many times, only to give up a couple months in) and after I lost 25 lbs he was inspired to start exercising and losing some…

I think it's a great way to be accountable. Now that I have reached my weight loss goal, I don't keep a food diary most days, but I still check in to see what my friends are doing, and to chat on the message boards. I also log my exercise, and always look forward to seeing "Tina has logged in for --- days in a row!" It…

One of my friends always types "2MORRO" instead of "tomorrow" and it drives me CRAZY.

We did this a couple of years ago (our daughter is now almost 12) and left the door off for about 4 months. It really solved the door-slamming problem. Glad to hear my kid isn't the only one who acts this way at times. Most of the time she is a lovely, sweet, funny, wonderful girl!

You don't look flabby at all! You look amazing.

That song is on ALL THE TIME at my gym in the morning!

Taking a bunch of clothes into the fitting room and they ALL fit... they all slide easily over my hips and all the pants button or zip comfortably!
