Hi, I'm Shannon from Toronto area, in Canada. I'm here because I want to lose weight to improve my health. I'm 28, diagnosed with high blood pressure and MS 2 years ago. I have a public diary and I log everything. Yes, even the horrible stuff. I use Fitbit to track activity and MFP to track food/drink. Currently on a 400+…

I think that 1,200 would be fine if we were filling it with only nutritious food. I am sure that most of us (myself included) fill it with things that are not so nutritious.

Yep. This week, my jeans are fitting better... and I haven't told him yet, but I plan to tell him just as soon as he complains to me about how his clothes don't fit... (yeah, I'm a bit vindictive). It's been really hard for me to avoid temptation over the last year, but when I started my journey I was so successful. I wish…

Yeah.. I was just thinking this discussion is out-of-control busy.

He looks at me shamefully and says "I know" But then goes back to eating junk and suggesting unhealthy dinner options. Of course, I am weak and will cave in because I have the same cravings... It's a rotten cycle.

You should tell them they are making you uncomfortable, and ask them what they have been talking about while glancing your way. Even if they make something up, it will no longer be an elephant in the room and you will either feel better or feel worse and leave.

Confession: My husband is not as serious about his health as he should be, and that scares me. A lot.

Acne is caused primarily by hormones. I recommend that you see an endocrinologist. Changes in your diet will change the quality and texture of your skin, but not your propensity to have a bacterial infection. Also, exfoliate more, use a toner, and moisturize with a lotion that is right for your skin.

When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis my life changed forever. As no two people are the same I can't tell you that I understand what you're going through, but I do know what it's like to have to make tough decisions around life changes.

I have never spit anything out, but I have not finished something when it wasn't worth the cals. This is how I judge whether a cheat is worthwhile. Based on the joy it will bring me, I may or may not consider it.

Today's confession is that this discussion is both making me crave bad foods, and making me feel better about myself at the same time. I will avoid the bad foods, I will I will I will....

A workout confession from me: I refuse to go to a public gym because I am severely embarrassed by the massive amounts of fat I carry on my upper arms, and the way it flaps and makes disgusting sounds when I am working out makes me queasy. I don't want to imagine how it would make others feel.

I did this for a while when I first started gaining some weight back. Then I eventually updated with my new weight. Every week I would think "I'll do better this week, and maybe by next week I will be able to record a lower weight."

I'm the same. Or, I'll portion myself a bowl of something, but not eat it all or share it with whoever I'm with and then end up not changing my log.

This is a perfect example of how logging food can be really frustrating. I always question things like rice, etc. On the package, I assume it gives the measurements based on how the product is in the package (unless otherwise stated). Therefore, the weight of the rice or bean or lentil will be different when cooked. 45g of…

You would either log the individual ingredients in your journal or create a 'recipe' in the app, and log the serving you ate. For example, on meal prep day when I make for the whole week and divide it up, I add the recipe. I usually weigh the final product to find out how many servings of 100g there is in what I made. For…

It was bad wording, I think. If people add me and I know people are watching I think I may have a harder time 'cheating'. I hope that makes sense. I will add you. I log everything, too.. even the bad stuff.

For today, I will try to stay in the green on my food journal(including exercise calories).

(New here... Hi!) Just for today I will not go to Starbucks on my lunch break for my usual latte, and when I get home from work I will not binge on dinner... There. Set in stone now... (hopefully that helps) Those are big hurdles for me.

Pharmacists are not doctors. You can have your iron levels checked. I went through this when I first started keeping an eye on my caloric intake. It turns out I just needed to eat more. As anything you read here will be speculation, I recommend you see a dietician or nutritionist.
