Post meal blood glucose isn't necessarily higher than fasting (talking particularly about testing 2 hour postprandial rather than immediately after eating, obviously) - my highest blood glucose reading is my fasting one. Unless I've had way more carbs than I should, my 2 hour postprandial test will be comfortably under…

Hi Alveratta, There is a nutrition database, but most if it is user-entered, so if you're just starting off it's a good idea to double-check any items you select, either against the packaging or against your country's nutritional standards (e.g. USDA in the US, or AUSNUT in Australia - I don't know any of the others :) ).…

Just to say that I think the Coles Gingerbread & Butterscotch pudding is worth every single one of its calories!

All of this. I had a hysterectomy last year, a couple of abnormally high blood pressure readings were instantly better when they used a larger cuff (and I don't even have weird arms or anything, so no idea what that was all about). I also know that I can't talk when the nurse takes my BP during my quarterly diabetes check,…

I'm on an android phone. Open app > click 3 lines top left of screen > choose "recipes, meals & foods" > choose "meals" > select meal you wish to delete > Click 3 vertical dots, top right of screen > choose "delete meal" > confirm decision > job done :)

On the app (android, anyway) if you create a meal you can add instructions for making it. That could be an option if it's a simple recipe and easily broken down into single serve amounts (in which case it's probably best entered as a meal anyway, as it is much easier to amend the individual weights of the ingredients).…

It definitely is a fun way to serve up vegetables, and, like you, I need to have pasta with my pasta dishes :D But I have found I can reduce the amount of spaghetti I need in my bowl if I mix it with some zucchini noodles too, or even just bulk up my allotted serving size of pasta. (I have type 2 diabetes so have to count…

Sometimes you are glad that a thread that's a few months old gets bumped... cos Aliens vs Carbohydrates made it most definitely worth it.

I struggle with a regular stationary bike but manage much better with a recumbent bike. The exercises posted above are very similar to the ones that my physio has given me to help strengthen quads. I also find that taping/strapping really helps to alleviate the pain. I have osteoarthritis in both knees, much worse in the…

Too easy! Guess all that nutritionist training from the OUA has come in handy for something  (I amused myself waiting for it to load up by reciting my OU ID number... which impressed me as I haven't done an OU course in about 13 years!)

I had minimal change nephritis as an older teenager. One of the diagnostics was to collect all urine for 3 days - I had to take a 5 litre plastic container to school with me and cart it back and forth from the teachers' staff room every time I had to go to the bathroom. To compare and contrast my active day with non-active…

It is a little boring if that is what you have every day. You haven't included food weights, or mentioned how you cook your chicken/fish - is that in some kind of oil? Here's some suggestions as to how you can increase the nutrient values: Add a banana or handful of berries to the Weetabix. It looks like you have your main…

FIFY (well, for him)

This is faaaabulous, dahlink. Missed it first time it was posted, so thank you for linking in t'other thread.

Have you or haven't you tried FODMAP? I only ask because, although you say above you have, in your other thread you say you haven't, you've just researched it. It may help others to give you better directed advice if they know for sure :)

Or just create a food and enter the data from the packet - it'll be right there whenever you need it.

I don't know if this is still an issue but if it is, I copied the links to all my MFP recipes (50+ pages!!) and put them into google sheets. That way I can easily search and order them and (this is the best bit) because I copied the link, clicking it in google sheets takes me straight to the recipe in MFP where I can log…

They also offer an eating plan, Curves Complete, in conjunction with the exercise. It's basically portion control.

If you have time to eat a sandwich... (and I know, this is thinking way outside the box)... put more stuff in it than peanut butter. I'm also diabetic and don't tend to eat a lot of carbs at dinner time - but I manage to make them for the rest of the family - why can't your husband do the same? If he's baulking at that,…

My husband died, very suddenly, just over 21 years ago, when I was still young and foolish, and with three small children too. It's hard, it's still hard. It'll probably always be hard. Keeping busy, as has been suggested, helps. It can help to develop a routine to deal with the day (for a long time, I would have a build…

I don't work and don't tend to venture outside very far, but here are my strategies (I know they don't seem like much, but when I first got a fitness tracker, my non-increased step count was about 1500-2000 steps, so this has all helped immensely) Being less efficient in the house - every morning I fill the kids' water…

I scored 3/10 - low risk. I put in my old stats, the stats I had when I was diagnosed with Type 2 (not prediabetes, actual diabetes) How was I actually diagnosed? My gp thought I had an issue with my thyroid and because I was over 40 also checked my blood glucose. I think they should have a disclaimer saying 'You've…

I really enjoy vodka and diet tonic, especially with tons of ice and some lemon slices. Also, it means if I want more than one, I can have another diet tonic in the same glass and feel like I'm drinking more than I am :D

Double dipped dark chocolate Cherry Ripe. It's worth all the calories and the soul of my first born child (seriously, he's 25 and still living at home, someone must surely want to take him)

Well it would possibly help with the 2kg weight loss :D

I'll just leave this here for you... http://www.differencebetween.net/science/mathematics-statistics/difference-between-fluid-ounces-and-ounces/

So, if I'm reading correctly, you've already had 4 weeks worth of menu plans? Can't you use some of the meal days from previous weeks to swap out the ridiculous meal plan from this week, and tell the 'coach' that you expect an extra week of plans for your inconvenience? I appreciate that you've pre-paid for 3 months worth…

It's a pudding - very filling and utterly delicious. http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cranachan_66101

I had a hysterectomy and 4 days in hospital, three weeks ago. I'd already decided before going in that I was going to put my numbers up to maintenance and at the same time not worry too much about things if I didn't have the energy or inclination to log. I have diabetes, so whilst in the hospital my diet was monitored for…

My cousin would always leave the bits he disliked until the end. I could never understand it - why wouldn't you get them out of the way? He explained that there was always the (slim) possibility that a meteor would crash into the earth, or some other cataclysmic occurrence, which would mean he wouldn't have to finish his…
