Your muscles are retaining water! This happens to me every time I begin lifting weights again (and I get discouraged and mad, etc every time). Keep at it (I know it is hard) and eventually your body will shed the water. I did weight training while on WW and the same thing happened then!! And the WW leader talked to me…

Oooo - I have that question, too! I previously lost weight by lifting/cardio at 1500-1600 calories per day (net!). I had muscle definition... Is it that you can't develop "as much" on a deficit? Or, maybe you don't "lose muscle" as you do if you did cardio only?

I totally feel you, G! Same thing here. I have read that it can take the body weeks to release the water it is holding from weight lifting when a person starts a program. I am a prior weight watcher. Like others, lost a lot on their plan and gained it all back (arggg). I think I eat more calories on MFP, which makes the loss slower, but more sustainable hopefully. Anyone else think they are eating more now than on WW?
