  • My father, who self-identifies as "completely oblivious" to changes in other people, told me last night at our weekly dinner that: 1. I looked really nice, 2. he could tell I've "been losing some weight," and 3. he was proud of me for doing so. This is the first time in my entire 35 years that he's commented on weight loss…

  • Letting go of soda (diet or otherwise) is difficult, but not impossible! I gave it up last summer when I realized HFCS and fake sugars were making me feel ill, and that the acidic drinks were destroying my teeth. I recommend going cold-turkey on any sweet drink for 6 weeks. You'll be amazed how your taste changes…

  • Currently 215.6 -- 1. Mini goal of 210 by Christmas (this is also about the weight where my face starts looking "normal" to me) 2. Under 200 by Jan. 15th. (6 month mark on new way of eating/living) Got through Thanksgiving staying on track. I hope having these goals will keep me in the right mindset during the…
  • Another vote for getting an insulated lunch bag/box and using reusable ice packs, or if you rather not, fill a water bottle half way, freeze, and then use that. Chicken and pasta salad with lots of veg would be good (and filling), fruit, baby carrots, pickles, protein bars, and nuts.
  • I don't know your current level of fitness, but I think it is achievable! I'm wanting to do the one in Austin in December, and am going to start the Couch to 5K program in September.
  • My August goals revolve around some upcoming travel: 1. Split a meal with friend when we are at restaurants. 2. Walk/hike outside as much as I can while we are visiting Oregon. 3. Travel days excluded, stick to workout schedule. 4.Have a loss of 4 lbs... that would put me at 10% lost of my SW.

  • I usually pack for the car (not already listed): raw almonds and raisins mixed celery with peanut butter (put a 2 inches of Pb in a jar, then stick the celery stick in it, add lid--no mess.
