  • I have my account synced, but I don't see it logging my steps, exercises. I've read some tutorials though on how to get it set up, so I think I will do that :) I just hate seeing that I'm "over" on here, when it says I'm under target and have 500+ calories left on my Fitbit App based on my output.
  • I have a Fitbit Blaze, and I love mine! It usually tracks pretty well with my level of activity- IE, when I'm working on a serving shift, or doing barn chores, it definitely counts the calories/extra steps I've burned with the heart rate tracker. My yoga instructor and I love comparing how many calories we've burned at the…
  • Congrats! I'm not a runner, but I have great respect for those who do it :)
  • I like it. Way to stay classic with the grey too :D
  • Super easy "Summer Salad": 1 1/2 cups of lettuce (I use Iceberg, but it's equally delicious with Romaine, and one day I got super adventurous and added some kale, which was amazing!) 1/3 cup of shredded cabbage/Julienned carrot mix (I buy this pre-shredded and mixed from Target. I am lazy.) 1/4 Cup of snap peas, broken in…
  • Welcome! Life often can get in the way of our fitness plans and goals, can't tell you how many times I've started up, only to stop! Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey. Perhaps by the time your hubby gets home from Basic Training, you'll have already set yourself into a regimented diet and exercise routine! I…
  • Hey, congrats! I have no doubt you'll be able to replicate your earlier success, in a way that you feel is more beneficial for you. I'll go ahead and send a friend request. I just got started making friends as well, previously, I was friends with just people I knew. I've found that it greatly helps to motivate me! Plus, I…
  • I've had a green burmese python, she was very cool. My father is terrified of snakes, and it took him 6 months to find her because he opened my door one morning (in the AM) after I had turned her heat lamp on, but hadn't turned the bedroom lamp on. Snake promptly had to go. And I raised a baby deer out at the farm whose…
  • First, that is horrible that you are dealing with that sort of negativity from the very people who should be lifting you up. Know that their comments are probably made out of jealousy, as you said they themselves are bigger than you. They're most likely miserable and stuck in a rut, and instead of doing something about…
  • Thank you so much for sharing! Your daughter is an inspriration :) I'm not sure if I'm there yet, but one day I hope to quit drinking all together as well, or at least limit it to very special occasions, having a glass of wine or something.
  • EDIT: Oops! This was meant as a response to the question about the horse in my profile picture ;) Thank you! This is my mare Trinket, pictured at age 3. She is a Morgan--very close though! You don't have to go far back into her pedigree to find some Saddlebred blood, back when the registry for Morgans was open ;) I had…
  • I picked my goal weight by using historical data (AKA: What I looked like and how I felt when I was younger and thinner). With my bone structure, I know that I'll never be a size 00 again, but I don't see why I couldn't be a 6-8 and be happy. As I was gaining weight from the 00 phase, I hovered in this range for 2 years,…
  • Expect it to come back, but probably in a good way. Think of it like this: You just went through an un-planned cleanse! Yay!
  • Meh, both. I feel like I get a better workout while I'm at my house, because I'm not as self-conscious about the other people around me. Flailing around like a crazed woman being attacked by a bat? No problem, the blinds are closed so I'm free to attempt what I call "White Girl Zumba".
  • This is the hardest part--having your significant other support you through your efforts! Of course, they're always there to say: "I'm so proud of you" or "I support what you are doing" and genuinely, wholeheartedly, do. But it can be so difficult when they have bad habits and you're around that all the time. My boyfriend…
  • Here! I'm 27, 5'7 and looking to lose around 40 lbs as well :) I recently "acquired" a horse (read: he was dumped on me), and I'm breaking him to saddle, so I want to make sure I'm fit enough to take a few falls, as well as enjoy some trail rides when I finally have him settled down! Looking to form a support group to help…
  • I have awful, awful periods. Lots of pain, nausea, sometimes I even black out. I'm on a few medications to try and manage the symptoms, if nothing else. The first day is always the worst, but I've found the best cure for the following days is actually yoga! I try to stay away from the highly intensive classes, but working…
  • Revisiting this post... Nearly a year later, and I *STILL* can't seem to break the yo-yo cycle! Fortunately now, I'm in my own space, and have an ENTIRE fridge/pantry that I can devote to my dietary needs. I also work full-time at an office job (I graduated this winter) and have cut back on hours spent in the restaraunt.…
  • Wow, this would be so hard for me! I'm going to watch you guys do it first. I've only been consistently tracking my meals on MFP for about 2 weeks now, and I have to say that my sugar intake is definitely my biggest issue.
  • Wow, lots of great advice and the support is amazing! I'm so glad I found this community :) I don't know how much weight I would need to lose to get into a size 8. I would think if I lost 35 lbs, I would be around 125...so probably closer to a size 4-6? I don't really know. I have never even owned a size 8 jeans before. I…
  • Thank you for your response! I hear you there. I don't mind cooking when I'm in my own space as much, but here it's an imposition and since I don't have much in the way of groceries and work long hours, I usually will go out to eat, or will stop somewhere on the way home. I have a panini press in storage that used to work…
