  • I am a late night person, too. I count everything as one day BEFORE I go to sleep. So, if Monday I wake up and eat breakfast (doesn't matter what time), have lunch, dinner, snacks, work out, and have a small snack after working out, even if it is after midnight, I put it as Monday. Then, after I sleep. everything after…
  • I watched the video that was related to the ad you are referring to, and I think while I watched it, I did a giant eye roll and closed my web browser. I remember the woman in the video saying that whole wheat bread was "bad" and that switching to spelt was best. THAT was it. We eat whole wheat, whole grain breads and…
  • That is fantastic! Congratulations!!!
  • I have it and love it! But I don't use it like you are "supposed" to - I don't go straight through each level in sequence. I'll do two days of Jillian's workout, then bike the next, then walk another day, then do Jillian for another two days, take a day off, etc. Her workouts are challenging and are great for the whole…
  • Get back up, dust yourself off, and just keep moving onward. You can do it! Since you did it before, you can do it again. You will be that much prouder when you accomplish your goal! You are still here, you haven't quit yet. Good for you!
  • On the contrary, you are a hero for being here! Many people don't even try. And here you are, ready to go! That is awesome, and you will meet many people to encourage you on your journey.
  • I have spoken to a physician about this prior to my weight loss program, and he said that, unless a person is classified as obese, the safest weight loss amount is 1/2 lb./week.
  • No, there isn't. You probably know more vegetarians in one political party because you tend to associate with those who have similar views.
  • Definitely. I say go for it!
  • Last one for now: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alcohol/SC00024 I will let you draw your own conclusions from these studies. Obviously, if you are an alcoholic, you should avoid drinking altogether.
  • Here's another one with more in-depth study: http://www.theheart.org/article/1189421.do
  • Sorry, I didn't reference an article or anything (how silly of me). I will do my best to find my source, but here is a good article in the meantime: http://www.livestrong.com/article/442554-the-recommended-alcohol-intake-per-week/
  • Definitely plan your meals. This will save you: 1. Money 2. Time 3. Heartache, after eating foods you hadn't planned to eat 4. Calories! Make a list of meals that are healthful and that you know how to make. Then, once a week, at a time that is convenient for you, make a menu for the week. Make a grocery list based on your…
  • Congratulations on an awesome accomplishment! How long did it take you?
  • I am 5'2" and my goal is 116, mostly hoping to decrease body fat.
  • We all eat the same thing. Every night. I have a list of "mom's meal ideas" in a three ring binder, and we all choose what we would like for the week. I always serve a fruit and vegetable, and we have at least one meatless meal a week. Kids and husband seem to like it.
  • I think having a cheat day every once in awhile is fine, even good and necessary, but having quite a few days where you are guessing the calories are around a certain amount is probably not very accurate. I would record everything you are eating every day for at least two months and I think you will have better results.…
  • Red wine is good. I think 2-3 drinks/week is actually "recommended" (if you are over 21, of course), and I like to have a glass of wine on occasion :)
  • If I am feeling hungry, I eat back my calories. Some days, I am just hungrier than others. Sometimes I almost can't seem to work out if I haven't had a little extra something. I'd say 75% of the time, I eat back my calories!
  • Funny thing, I started weighing some of my snacks, and actually I was eating too FEW of the items (peanuts, for example), instead of the other way around (I was counting out how many peanuts, etc., instead of weighing the "30 grams" that it mentions on the package). I was overerestimating my food portion calories until I…
  • Hi jgriffin, I looked through two days - Tuesday and Monday. On those two days I saw a couple of things: You have a LOT of calories left at the end of the day, so you are doing exercise, but not eating back those calories. Also, I do not see a lot of fruit and veggies on those particular days. I see carbs and protein, but…
  • These are awesome suggestions! I drink tea when I am feeling the munchies coming on. I have a variety of herbal teas to drink in the evening, and my favorite is chocolate mint truffle! Smells chocolaty and is satisfying, and you have to sip tea sloooowwwwly. I keep the water hot on the stove, so I continually add water and…
  • Hi kellysmom, I have to say I was surprised how many calories were in some of my favorite food, too! I have not given up sweets or treats, I just eat less of them. I have made a point of exercising 6 days a week, although my original goal was 4. I have really liked the Jillian Michaels DVDs, because I can do them at home,…
  • I set my goal to losing 1/2 lb. a week (that was recommended to me by a doctor), and so my calorie goal is 1480/day. I usually eat back some of my work out calories. I can't help it. I feel dizzy if I don't. Edit: I just updated my weight, and now it is saying my goal is 1440/day.
  • Spread a tsp. of peanut butter on a graham cracker square, add slices of apples. It is so good. I just have one large rectangle graham cracker, two tsp. peanut butter, and the apple slices, then eat the leftover apple slices on their own. Filling and delicious!
  • I love bananas and I eat them frequently, but I find if I eat them first thing in the morning, I tend to digest them quickly, and I feel hungry way before lunch. I usually have them in the afternoon, before dinner.

  • I have recently gone on a mini vacation with my husband and we went out to eat for every meal. What I did was, before going to a restaurant, I would search the database here to look for a meal that would be something I liked, with fewer calories. If we were going to an independent restaurant, I would take my best guess and…

  • Actually, McD's has some really good options for healthier eating. Just look through their nutrition guide.
  • Just had a cheat day, though I didn't really intend to - husband and I went out of town, and boy, it is difficult to eat healthy when going out to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! At least for me, anyway ;) I went 500 calories over, and it was delicious :)
  • Perhaps he/she thought that the calorie goal wasn't adequate? When I first started here, I showed my doctor, and he said that the calorie goal was too low (the default weight loss here is set to lose one pound a week), and he said that the ideal/healthiest goal for losing weight is a half pound a week. Maybe give that a…
