Welcome to a new beginning and good luck to you. This is not going to be easy, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. No one else will do it for you, however there are people around who can help you. You cannot undo the past, only carve out a new future. Good luck and remember there is no finish line, this race goes on…

Hi Kate, The rules on the use of headphones in all USATF races was amended quite some time ago. Rule 144.3, which pertains to the use of headphones and other electronic devices, to enable race directors to choose to allow the use of headphones by runners in non-championship races. The rule previously banned the use use of…

Good morning Jade, Welcome to MFP and hopefully a new beginning. Feel free to invite me if you like. If you ever have any questions or need anything, feel free to shoot me a message. Have a great day and again welcome. Jim

Hang in there and don't give up. A healthier you is a marathon, not a sprint. You are going to have good days and bad days. Just keep doing what you know is right! Have a great day.

You are really not providing enough information to make a determination if what you are doing is right or wrong. You have lost 19lbs and almost 1% of BF...that really is extraordinary.

Broccoli and spinach are both good green veggies. Here is a website you can reference to take a look at foods that are lower in sodium. Good luck. http://www.lowsaltfoods.com/

Absolutely amazing!!!! You did a fantastic job and should be very proud of your accomplishment!!! Now the question is when is the next one :)
-
Thanks Tiffany I as well as (hopefully) a lot of charities appreciate it as well!

Don't get discouraged at all!!!! In February 2008 when I started my journey, I lost ZERO lbs in the entire month!!!!! ZERO!!!! It takes time and patience. Unfortunately, the weight we all put on at one point in our lives didn't show up overnight and even more unfortunate is that it doesn't come off overnight either. Living…

Not to sound or come across as harsh, but one thing I used almost every morning at the beginning for me was a mirror. I just didn't like who was looking at back at me and that gave me the boost I needed. Good luck!

Nashville is a GREAT city and the race was pretty good last year except for the thunderstorms. I am looking forward to a great time again this year :) Thanks meagalayne - I don't know about a machine but I appreciate the compliment :) Jim

P90X is a pretty good program, I did it twice and I did see results. With regards to a heart rate monitor, if you have a target in your area they sell a watch in the sports/athletic section called Sportline. It is a regular watch with a HRM built in. What I did when doing P90 was every 5 minutes or so hit the button and it…

Unfortunately I have to be the bearer of bad news. Until your husband WANTS or NEEDS to change, he won't. NO matter what you say, it won't work. In most cases, something is going to have to happen in his life that forces the change OR he decides he wants to change. Everything you say will almost always come across as an…

Looks like we will be in Nashville in April...you have some good races on there...best of luck to you! Can't wait to hear all about them!

Great question Wendy!!! I relate "twinges" to relatively normal aches and pains that go with running...running at times hurts and over the past 2.5 years I have had my fair share of twinges...It is reasonable to expect some joint pain at times however if the pain becomes persistent, and does NOT go away even when not…

First of all great job in finishing the Half, that is something to very proud of. That being said, running 3 times per week at 3 to 4 miles per run puts you between 9 and 12 miles per week...with a long run of 7.5 miles that unfortunately tells me that you were drastically undertrained for the half marathon. I wouldn't…

I must confess that I absolutely cannot stand to hear people say they are dieting or going on a diet or they are on a diet.....I know that sounds weird but maybe someday I will explain why I feel that way.
-
I was enjoying all the confessions right up to this one!!! I think it is incredibly sad that your husband is not supportive and won't listen to you about all of your weight loss issues and victories.
-
Now thats what I'm talking about!!!!!!!! I like it!
-
Hi....so happy to know all about you now on your introduction LOL! Just kidding...welcome to MFP!

Welcome to a world of change. There are a ton of people here who can and will help you in any way that you need. Stay motivated and stay positive. What part of Texas...I have family outside of Dallas in Decatur and I also have family down in San Antonio!
-
I wish I could help ya out there...One of my vices is Coffee and Tea.....LOVE THEM BOTH!!!!
-
Nope...no sympathy at all LOL!!!!!!
-
Honestly I don't wear my race shirts...I hang them up LOL!
-
I would probably say that my weight loss began when I started running. I started running in June 2008.
-
Naaaa, don't feel like a wuss!!! My marathon season is from October to May every year. I spend June through September in training. I still run a lot in between marathons but mostly that is maintenance miles....I try not to kill myself during the season....so during training I work my way up from about 140 or 150 miles per…
