  • If you have a heart rate monitor, that can give you a good approximate number of calories burned, then you can just track that amount for each of the workouts. Keep in mind that HRM tend to overestimate calories burned for resistance training. I'd probably multiple what you get by .75.
  • Hi There - I'm on my second round of P90x, and I'm a beachbody coach. ARX is a killer! I know what you mean about it working your legs/thighs! It is mean to to work your whole core, not just abs. This is totally normal. Trust me, you are working your abs. I have the six pack to prove it! You might not get through ARX…
  • Calipers are not expensive. You can get plastic ones that are fine for under $10. They are by far not the most accurate though either, unless they are in the hands of a real expert who knows how to use them. If you get some and work at it, you can get a fairly accurate measurement. The methods you talk about are not…
  • Welcome! I'm a 30 something dad! MFP is great. Having a support system of like-minded people is hugely helpful. I've been doing Beachbody workouts and following strict nutrition since February. I've lost 42 lbs, and I just about have a "six pack" for the first time in my life! Add me as a friend. I'd be happy to offer…
  • I finish my second round in a couple of weeks. I have a six pack for the first time in my life... this stuff works! You MUST follow the nutrition exactly! Nutrition is 75%+ of this program! Add me as a friend peeps and let't communicate!
  • Good for you! I started doing Power 90 in February. I was WAY out of shape, and easing into a program that was challenging, but not too demanding was exactly the right move.
  • too much protein over a prolonged period of time is not good for you. protein is synthesized in the liver, and if you over tax it too long it is bad. 3g per pound of body weight is WAY too much!!! A lot of body builders adding muscle follow a 1 to 1.5 gram per pound of body weight guidline. 3 gr. per lb is too much.
  • DO NOT do cheat days! Anybody telling you that they are OK or permissable is lying. Every bit of food you put in your mouth matters. If you put in junk, even just a little, it is setting you back and slowing your progress. When you eat, ask yourself, "is this food helping, or hurting, my progress towards my goal"?
  • add me as a friend! I've lost 42 lbs since February using MFP, and doing Power 90 and P90X. I've completely changed my lifestyle, which isn't easy, but it is necessary if you want to get on the right path. Happy to share ideas and help if I can!

  • Hi There! I can relate! Over a 10 year period or so, I packed on weight. In February, I started Power 90, and I'm 3 weeks away from completing P90X. I've lost 42 lbs so far! I have used MFP for the last 5 months. Proper nutrition and exercise really work! Send me a buddy request on MFP and let's support each other!

  • Hi There! I'm a dad of two, and I can still relate! Over a 10 year period or so, I packed on weight. In February, I started Power 90, and I'm 3 weeks away from completing P90X. I've lost 42 lbs so far! I have used MFP for the last 5 months. Proper nutrition and exercise really work! Send me a buddy request on MFP and let's…
  • Wow - glad to hear so many successes with the programs. In general, I find that I talk to people with a range of opinions. The common factor which determines success is how well they stick to the program (nutrition and exercise). Like so many things, you get out what you put into it!
  • Cool everyone! Some quick thoughts: 1) if you didn't get results on programs as intense as P90x, I have to assume you weren't a) sticking with the workouts, or b) following the nutrition properly. These are pretty hard core workouts, and if you are fueling your body properly, you will see changes. 2) Shakeology? I have…
  • Hi There - will PM you too. I have pictures through 60 days I can give you. My results have really floored me so far!
  • Low carb diets are fads! No good for you, not sustainable, and far better alternatives. If you look at the research, you'll confirm the above. Your body NEEDS carbs. It is the primary fuel source. If you take them out, you are tricking your metabolism into using fat stores which is what gives you results in the long term,…
  • Steel Cut Oats! I just discovered these when I started doing Power 90 and P90X... I don't know where they were before!
  • Steplaj - of course the guy selling them recommends them! I have lost 41 lbs in 5 months and I have a six pack for the first time in my life and I have taken NO supplements. I'm not a former athlete. The key to long term fat loss and keeping it off is to change your habits... food and exercise. Fat loss is 80% proper…
  • Interesting post. Here are my thoughts. In January, I weighed 220 lbs and I squeezed into size 40 dress pants. I have two young kids. I was tired all the time, and I was setting a bad example for them. I wanted to be more than healthy, I wanted to get ripped. I have NEVER been someone happy to take their shirt off at the…
