I started out exactly where you are (only a bit older) and with two kids and a full time job. The trick is to make working out a priority. Also, diet is 80% of the equation. I ate between 1500 and 1700 calories a day and exercised (pilates and aerobics mostly) 45 minutes a day and lost 70 lbs in the first year. You can do…

I think it's a mix of cardio and weights. Find which ever cardio equipment you enjoy and go for it :)

Start my eating smaller portions and maybe think about what your biggest food vice is and try to avoid it. For me, it was Pepsi. I gave it up for a week to start and then after a week I decided to give it up for the rest of the month. Now, three years later I drink it only occasionally. I don't NEED it like I did when I…

I have a pair of 4s in my drawer that I would love to fit into again. I wore them out in public once before I began my downward spiral. I would love to be able to wear them again. Hopefully by this summer! Edited to add that I was originally an 18/20 (a 24 while pregnant with my first child) and am now an 8/10. I was a 6/8…

I use a SPIbelt for my phone and there's no need for water on a 30 minute run. I actually find that bringing water gives me an excuse to stop and walk. When I don't have it I don't want it.

I think that my goal should just be to not eat junk every day... but I suck. LOL Each day is a battle for me and I usually lose it around 9 o'clock at night right after I put the kids to bed. Gotta get my head back in the game.

Anyone?

I love my FT4. I use my Garmin for GPS when I run but I always go back to my Polar for general exercise.

A trigger for me is male attention. I guess unconsciously I would rather be invisible to the opposite sex, because the attention makes me feel vulnerable.

Definitely recommend Couch to 5K. Also, don't worry about how fast you're going. Just get out there and do it. Speed will come later :) Good luck!

This is me. When I was at my thinnest (about a year ago) I got a lot of attention. It scared me and I went back to old habits (comfort food, late night snacking, etc) and I gained back about 20lbs. I want to go back to the weight at which I feel best, but I have no idea how to deal with this issue.

I have been overweight for as long as I can remember... with the exception of a few months last year when I reached my goal weight. Even in elementary school I was called a whale by some boys on my bus, but when I look at pictures I really wasn't all that chubby. There was also the "chubby thighs" comments that I can…

A couple of sips of anything with aspartame or Splenda and I'm toast. I get terrible migraines from it and refuse to use it.

Skinny jeans.

Make excuses. I can't stand hearing people make excuses.

Spin and tone class!

Sounds like you got the French vanilla Cappuccino and not the flavoured coffee.

That's just an excuse. She's obviously not ready, so there's not much you can do.

I think that people treat me differently, but I've been told by someone who knew me briefly before my "transformation" that it's me who puts out a different vibe. The thing is, I had a tragedy occur in my life (which is partly what motivated me to change) right before I started losing weight. So, this person had seen me at…

In my experience, diet is about 80% of the equation and exercise is 20%. During my peak weight loss I was more focused on what I ate and I was exercising 6 days a week, but mostly low impact like pilates (150-175 cals per day). I stopped tracking my food and started eating whatever I wanted for about a year and gained back…

I was wondering the same thing! After a tough set of one-legged deadlifts on Wednesday night I can barely walk today! LOL I have a running date at 8am tomorrow so I'm wondering if I should just take it easy today and go all out tomorrow on my run or go to the gym and do something light like the elliptical or arctrainer…

Honestly I hate Jillian's workouts. I find them so jarring and irritating. I prefer a workout that is more invigorating. I like cheesy aerobics like Kathy Smith's old Weight Loss Workout or even better, anything Ellen Barrett. I started out with crunch: Burn & Firm Pilates. You don't feel like you're going to pass out and…

I have two HRMs and both give me completely different numbers (both have chest straps and both are branded - Polar and Garmin). I'd probably go with the lowest of the three numbers. While my Garmin is usually pretty accurate (I think), I ran on the treadmill the other night for half an hour and it told me that I had only…

I started out at 247 and would eat anywhere between 1500 and 1750 calories each day, exercise 6 days a week (300 calories burned per day) and not eat those calories back and I lost about 50 lbs in the first 6 months. The second 6 months I continued to lose at a slower rate (probably another 30lbs) and then another 20 lbs…

I love grated cheddar cheese broiled in the oven and then topped with some raspberry jam :)

I always recommend Ellen Barrett as a low-impact workout that packs a punch. She's awesome. www.ellenbarrett.com. Perfect for when the kids (or husband) are sleeping, apartment living or if you're just starting out and don't want brain rattling jumping jacks in your routine.

Sure! I'd love to!!

Any loss is a good loss as long as you're moving in the right direction. My best advice is eat less and move more. :) Good luck!!!

Sounds like you've got this in the bag! I find that I'm always a little faster under pressure (in races, etc) so I'm sure you'll be fine :) Good luck and keep us posted!
