  • That's my hope is that when I finally decide to have a coke again, the taste will no longer appeal to me! :)
  • That's amazing! I started lifting about a month ago and I'm trying to figure out the cardio portion of it. I'm a runner, so it makes it difficult to cut back. I'm trying to focus on HIIT training more and more though. Congrats!
  • Thanks! I still drink a sugar free Rockstar from time to time for the energy. My next step is to stop drinking those, too. I suffer migraines, though, and the caffeine helps with that. Plus, right now it is a tasty substitute for when I am just over drinking water (I get about 100oz a day of H2O). Thanks everyone for the…
  • I definitely did not mean any disrespect to anyone and i apologize if I did. My stepfather is an alcoholic, my mother is a gambleholic, and I have struggled to control my soda intake. Unhealthy habits come in all forms, not just alcohol and drugs. I've never had an issue with drinking alcohol, or gambling, but I have…
  • Thanks everyone! And good job to those that have been able to give it up! My love is coke. At least 24 oz a day, if not more. Was getting expensive and always put me over my calorie limit! I'm curious if I can remain soda free for any real length of time :)
  • Thanks! I am signed up for the WOD from Spartan (workout of the day), but I was wondering if anyone on here might have some extra/additional tips. I'll look at the Tough Mudder stuff as well. :drinker:
  • So happy I found this thread. I've been off the message boards for quite some time, and I forgot how helpful they can be! I just started weight training this week (for the first time, ever) and I weighed myself this morning and was shocked to see an almost 5lb gain from last friday. This is also day 4 of no soda for me, so…
  • Thank you so much, everyone! I'm going to try and reach out to you individually and say thanks...but if I don't, know that your support and congrats is mucho appreciated!
  • Thank you, everyone! I often come to the success stories for motivation and inspiration. I was really excited to post my own success this morning. I had tried for years to lose weight (like most people) and failed (like most people). It wasn't until I discovered MFP and all of the wonderful support here that I discovered I…
  • My plateau lasted from August 2012 until Jan 2013...For the first 4 months of it, I didn't change a thing. I kept telling myself that it would eventually come off if I stuck to the plan. I went the gym for my usual work outs, I ate my usual number of calories, and I drank water like crazy. :drinker: Shortly after Christmas…
  • I ran my first 5K at 267 lbs. It just takes the right mindset and patience during training. Is 267 still a low number for weight? Need something bigger? Check out Chris Davis' story: http://blog.spartanrace.com/my-journey-to-sparta-chris-davis/ He inspired me to take on Spartan Racing (of which I have completed two so…
  • Welcome to life! And what I mean by that is, you are going to come across moments during your journey that make it seem impossible to stick with your eating plan. My advice? Enjoy the day at Disney. How often do you get to enjoy being at Disneyworld or Disneyland? For me, it's at least 2x per month...but then again I live…
  • I was too fat to ride a Segway through the San Diego Wild Animal park. There is a 250 lb weight limit for Segways, and my friend said, "Hey, maybe you can squeak by if you skip breakfast that morning?" I didn't have the heart to tell her that at the time, I weighed 267. There would be no squeaking by that one. I was…
  • @Danger2OneSelf: 8 (You look like you've worked hard for that body. Good job! Can't see your face, though.)
  • I'm so very proud of you! I definitely understand your frustration at the plateau! I'm playing around with mine now in the hopes of breaking it for good! We shall both make it happen in 2013! Keep it up!
  • Yup, way too risky to stop! I didn't know where the pacers were, but insure didn't want to find out haha. The bladder can wait! I plan on tackling this race again next year so I can improve my time! You gotta do it, too :-D
  • Thanks! :) I AM dressed up as Mr. Smee! haha I am NOT the tutu wearing type of girl, so when I decided I wanted to do this race and dress up, I had to think of who would be a great character and still be comfy. It was a GREAT idea because there were not too many other Mr. Smee's out there (and I was the only female one…
  • Thanks, everyone! I just realized that picture doesn't show the actual Tinkerbell part. She spins in the middle of the medal. It is pretty awesome. I do all my races for the BLING! (But I am definitely getting a 13.1 sticker or magnet after this one...it was so amazingly tough! haha)
  • Thanks, everyone! :) I also was able to purge a LOT of clothing that is now too big. That felt great!
  • Super late in posting but thanks to a reminder email, here we go! I have started my official training for the Tinkerbell Half Marathon. My miles until January 20th are: 101 I've already knocked out 7 of them (5 Sunday and 2 today) I have 94 left. Yahoo!
  • Thanks! I totally have faith that you will make it to your goal! My goal is 100 lbs and it feels like it will take ages to get there. But I figure the time will pass regardless, so even if it takes years its all good! lol
  • I plateued around the -20 mark and it lasted for two...yes, TWO months! I finally had to up my calories from 1400 to 1880 and I started chugging water like no one's business. Finally took off almost 10 more lbs and I've platueaed again. Hope it doesn't last another 2 months...I'll die, haha.
  • Yup! I will be there. My very first half marathon! So excited for this new challenge! I have a great outfit picked out, too.
  • The first time I ever tried to run (haha, let's be honest: JOG), I barely made it 30 seconds before I wanted to die. It took me 18 minutes to complete a mile because I had to walk most of it. I'll never forget the day I jogged to an entire song! Over 3 minutes worth of jogging. I was so proud of myself. (In case you're…
  • Here are my 5K times since Jan of this year: Neverland 5K (1/12): 47 min Coaster Run 5K (3/12): 42 min Pajama Run 5K (6/30): 40:38 min 4th of July 5K: 40:05 min Awesome 80's 5K (9/1): 41:46 min Chapman 5K (10/6): 39:38 min I have had a goal of finishing in under 40 minutes ALL YEAR and I finally did it this past Saturday…
  • I am doing "reverse pull-ups" to help me eventually do a real pull-up! Last week I had a rude awakening when I tried, for the first time, to do a real pull-up using the assistance machine. I put it at maximum assistance (120lbs) and I still couldn't lift my darn body off the ground...I do weigh 230 though, so that might…
  • Thank you so much, everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I can't wait to post a pic when I hit -50 lbs and then -100 lbs (my ultimate goal!)
  • I made my default picture on my profile the same image, so if right clicking doesn't work for some, you can view it there. I'm sorry the pic sizing is all off! I'm not tech savvy, lol. Thank you everyone for the congrats! :flowerforyou:
  • Anyone know how to resize this? It looks too long for my screen. Can you see the whole thing?
  • Running is definitely not for everyone. You either have the urge to run or you don't. Since you don't, no worries! As long as you're doing something that gets you sweaty :) I run because I have always wanted to run but felt I was too fat and had bad knees. Then I decided one day to prove to myself that my barrier to…
