Day 10: No Soda!

Just wanted to post that I've made it to day 10 without drinking a soda. Not even a diet soda (nasty stuff). My goal is to make it until June 7 (my birthday), but I have a feeling that if I can get to that date, I will not even want a soda anymore. That would be wonderful.

That's AWESOME!! Keep it up!! And if you make it to June 7th, why go back?? Try for July 7th, then August 7th!!
Great work -- soda is evil!! (Okay, maybe not "evil", but it's definitely not good!)0 -
I stopped drinking soda in high school. I was never really a huge fan of it and I've always loved water. Now I only drink soda if it's got booze in it.0

Good job!!
I was drinking 4-6 20oz Dew's a day 4 months ago. I have only had 2, i think since then. It was tough at first, but it gets easier. Just reach for the water bottle instead.0 -
I wish I had your will power. That is great!! The longest I've gone is like 3 days...0
-
Nice!! I've been pop free for the past 3 years. It's really not as bad as you think once you get used to drinking water.0
-
keep going just take it day by day.. yeah dont stop at your birthday
i used to be a 2-3 can a day at least of mountain dew guy..
A friend of mine challenged me if i could go like 2 weeks.. and it was one of the reasons that led me to MFP
now its almost a source of pride , to see how long i can keep going.. not gonna say ive quit forever but i am doing great
there are only certain times when i want one bad.. as i was at a convention for work in the casino and got a cheat meal of a big burger and fries.. i wanted a soda so bad, but just got water. or out at the Phillies games or something.. i am not a beer drinker. do like wine just never liked beer
think its a big reason for my weight loss
proud to say i havent had a soda since 8/4/12!!0 -
I used to guzzle diet pepsi... I realized what I am craving is the carbonation so I switched to seltzer water which I like! And I hardly even drink that now. It is all just a process of your body getting used to not having it, but it is not so bad.0

Great Job!! I'm on day 31 with none. Mt. Dew was my addiction, 6-8 cans on average per day!!0

Thanks everyone! And good job to those that have been able to give it up! My love is coke. At least 24 oz a day, if not more. Was getting expensive and always put me over my calorie limit! I'm curious if I can remain soda free for any real length of time0

Wonderful: I've only tried once. What is your reason?0 -
You can do it!! I'm nearing day 100. It gets easier. When I started, I hated water. I thought it was gross. Now I crave water.
It's weird (the thought of me craving water.. not the water itself ), but awesome0 -

June 7th is my birthday too, woohoo.
Awesome job on cutting out soda cold turkey that is nuts. It really can be an addiction to some people as I came to realize when my husband was buying liters every week and downing them in no time at all. Money was being spent like crazy when it could have been spent on wiser things. Slowly though I stopped buying soda when I went shopping and he weaned out of drinking it except on some occasions, and I take sips every now and again.
I was a mountain dew lover and brisk(yeah yeah not technically a soda but still horrible) and could drink like 3 cans a day but I would always have to flatten it as I hate carbonation. My issue was that I despised water! Slowly I made it the only thing I was able to drink at work and such and now I crave water constantly!! I love flavor though so I infused my water a lot especially during the summer. Some combinations are magnificent. Watermelon/Lime/Mint water is to die for0 -
Wow, congrats! I hope to one day even think about giving them up, lol. #kudos0

Congrats! That is a definite calorie saver. I have myself cut down on Coke and now only have it when I go out to see a movie. I can't seem to watch a movie (in the theatre) without popcorn and coke.0

21 days with or without something will make or break a habit! So keep it up for 21 days straight and you are golden! Good luck and congrats!0

I have gone 75 days with only have one Coke Zero during that time and I used to drink 3-4 of them a day, every day. I feel a million times better with no deep slumps like I used to have after the caffeine and the sweetener in my sodas wore off. With no deep slumps, then the temptation to just reach for something, anything to get picked back up is almost all gone. Bonus!
Keep going because it is worth it!0 -
It's probably just me, but when I was drinking Coke Zero (I love that stuff), I always got cravings for sweets..I've cut down considerably, (once a week on average), and I rarely actually crave sweets anymore.0
-
I've been soda free since Thanksgiving. I had a 6-8 can a day habit. I crave it every now and again but for the most part I'm really happy with my water.0

So exciting!
I used to drink 1 Pepsi a day, then after I started watching my weight I switched to like 3-4 a week. Then my husband, who drinks 2-3 Mountain Dews a day challenged me (and himself) to be soda free from May 1st - July 1st. So I'm on day 9! Almost don't miss it anymore.
I switched to carbonated flavored water for my one a day "soda" for meals. Love the bubbly and light flavor. I like the Walmart Wild Cherry!0 -
Great job! Keep it up! You can do it.
Not only is it bad for your diet... its bad for your teeth and wallet and who knows what else.0 -
That's really good! I'm on day 7 of no soda. I was drinking 2-3 a day. Love Coke and Mountain Dew. It's funny because I didn't mean to cut them off cold-turkey like this, but I haven't really craved any since. When I quit I had the WORST headaches. Those are gone now and I don't get tired mid-day like I used to. I don't plan to stay completely soda-free though. I will treat myself to one every now and then to see if I can get a healthier relationship to soda.0

You can totally do it!!!0
