30 Days "Sober"
Today marks the 30th day I've been soda free! This is huge for me, as I was consuming on average 2 cans of coke a day. That means I have saved myself 8400 calories in the last 30 days from not drinking soda. I know lots of people struggle with giving up soda. It was hard and continues to be difficult for me. Those who say…

Day 10: No Soda!
Just wanted to post that I've made it to day 10 without drinking a soda. Not even a diet soda (nasty stuff). My goal is to make it until June 7 (my birthday), but I have a feeling that if I can get to that date, I will not even want a soda anymore. That would be wonderful.

Spartan Beast Training: HELP!
For the first time since beginning MFP over a year ago, I am ready to begin strength training. Actually, I started on Tuesday of this week. Being a newbie at this whole lifting concept, I could really use some advice from you awesome people! My stats: I’m currently 227 lbs and I’m 5’6”. The race is on August 10 of this…

One Year on MFP: Gained More than I Thought! (PICS)
Hello everyone! Today marks my one year anniversary on MFP. Since day one, I have logged in every single day...so it is also my 365th day of logging! I won't bore you with too many written details. I know when I come to the Success Stories, I want to see the pictures! (Which I hope I upload correctly) I will say…

If Every Day Were Like Today...
So I have this habit of taking screen shots every night when I complete my diary, just so I have a visual of how my days go up and down depending on what I ate and how much I burned. Just now, after I completed my diary, this is what it read: "If every day were like today, you'd weigh 215 in 5 weeks" That's my GOAL…

I did it! Where's My Sticker? ;)
I did it! I actually did it! I participated in the Tinkerbell Half Marathon today and I finished! It was my first attempt at a race this distance and Disney races have a pacing requirement of 16/min mile or else you can get thrown off the course. So I was very nervous when I realized around mile 7 that my 14 min/mile pace…

NSV While Packing
Hey everyone, I'm a runner, and addicted to 5Ks, 10Ks, and more recently Spartan races. Well, I am moving tomorrow and have been packing up my stuff all week. While cleaning out my closet, as I was pulling race shirt after race shirt, I couldn't help but notice that my very first race shirt was a size XXL and my latest…

Rocky Balboa Victory Dance!
Last night I challenged myself to take all 4 flights of stairs at Universal Studios (from the lower lot to the upper lot). It is a total of 345 steps and I have tried three other times only to give up halfway and take the escalators. Boo! BUT last night I successfully took all 345 steps, no breaks, and when I reached the…

Same Outfit, BIG Difference! -37 w/ pics!
Recently I came across the picture on the left of me and my little cousin, who is about 6 there and I am about 267lbs :noway: Last Friday her and I were going to hang out so I decided to wear the exact same outfit as in the picture, just to have something to compare my progress to. WOW! This difference blows me away. I am…

That Last .1 is a Killer!
I HAD to share my newest NSV with you all... I have had a goal of finishing a 5K in less than 40 minutes for this entire year. My last race finishing time was 40:05 and it was so frustrating to see that I had come so close and missed it by *that* much. Today, before the start of my next 5K, I told myself "Every step…

Knee Pain
Hey there! Question for you...I've consistently had knee pain when I try to do squats and lunges. I've tried changing my form and how far I dip down but it seems like I always feel unstable and it hurts slightly. Normally I just skip doing those because I don't want to injure myself BUT I'm now training for a Spartan…

-6 Can Become -100!
Hey there! When I first started MFP, my ultimate goal was losing 100 lbs, putting me at 165. That was such an enormous amount that I decided to focus on half instead (which my ticker below reflects.) Today, I decided to do some math. I've been on MFP just about 6 months now and my loss has been between 5 and 6 lbs a month.…

17 Weeks Along...
Hello all! Thanks for taking the time to check out my success story. I am just over the halfway point for my first goal weight and have just recently broken through a 2 month long plateau! Seeing these two images together is just what I needed to keep myself motivated! I'm loving the difference in my waist! Goes to show…

1200...Was it pulled from a hat?
There has been numerous debates about whether or not 1200 calories is or is not the lowest amount of calories a body can survive with, and this post isn't to discuss that question. This post is to ask: Where the heck did 1200 come from, anyway? Did they just pull that number out of a hat? A person laying in bed,…

How Tough are You?
http://www.spartanrace.com/socal-obstacle-racing-spartan-sprint-2012.html Has anyone ever participated in a Spartan race? I did an obstacle race last November and LOVED it. I am thinking of doing this 5K for the bragging rights (this one looks a lot tougher than the obstacle race I did before,) Experiences?…

Cardio at Disneyland
I just wanted to say that since getting my FitBit a few months ago, a trip to Disneyland for a few hours becomes my mission to accomplish 10,000 steps! I love it. One day soon I'll need to go to Disney for an entire day and see how many steps I log. If I can get 10K in just a few hours, imagine 12 hours?! And I…

My "Skinny" Jeans!
This past weekend, I had to go through my entire closet because I needed to find something specific. While doing that, I took all my old jeans out and decided to see which ones fit and which were either too big or still too small. As I'm pulling on pair after pair, I'm thinking to myself "Wow, I can get all of these on…

Movie-Themed Foods!
Hey everyone! My work is having a "Movie-Themed" potluck tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out something creative to bring. Any suggestions? For example...if the movie is The Breakfast Club, I could bring something that has to do with breakfast or I can bring Captain Crunch cereal and pixie sticks (haha not recommended) I'd…

Tinkerbell Half Marathon 2013 - Disneyland
http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/rundisney/tinker-bell-half-marathon/ Anyone registered for this or thinking about doing it? I did the Never Land 5K this past Jan and I was envious of the medal for the 1/2-ers! I really want to give myself something extraordinary to work towards with my running progress and this event…

NSV - BMI Lower!
So there I am, fiddling around with the FitBit website, looking at my stats, and what do I see?? I am no longer CLASS III Obese! I've gone from 43.1 BMI to 39.3! Granted, this is still considered morbidly obese and I still cannot get health insurance because of it. BUT it's a move in the right direction! I haven't had a…

Fit2Fat2Fit: Motivating or Crazy?
Hey everyone! I wasn't sure where exactly to put this thread, so I hope I chose correctly. I just came across this article: http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/05/health/drew-manning-fit2fat2fit-lessons/index.html I am still trying to decide if his decision (and success) is motivating to me or not. Anyone else see this and have…

Goodbye Back Rolls!
I am hoping this works...this will be my first attempt at a post with a picture *fingers crossed* I've lost 20 pounds so far since joining MFP on March 5, 2012! Please ignore my hair in the picture on the left. I had just rolled out of bed, weighed myself, and I was so excited about the loss that I took a picture before I…

NSV - Completed First 10K!
I'm still in my "runner's high", so forgive my enthusiasm but I completed my first 10K this morning!! Last year I focused on 5Ks, as any form of running is a challenge to me. This year I wanted to add a little extra umph to my challenge and face 6 miles instead of 3. I feel fantastic about it and I cannot wait to run…

Practice Makes Permanent!
I realized that after a month of being on MFP, I never really said "Hi". I just jumped right into the message boards and started providing feedback  I'm a pretty positive person who is looking to continue having fun in life. My main motivation to become more fit is because I have started being denied pleasures of…

NSV-Hole #5
I have been on the 4th hole of my belt for as long as I can remember...this morning I thought, "Hmm, can I go one more comfortably?" The answer is: YES! Maybe I should start keeping track of inches, since apparently I'm losing some of those too

My Poor Butt!
Today I did 4 miles straight through for the first time...ever...yay! However, after my shower I realized my backside was incredibly irritated. I've had chub rub with my thighs for YEARS but this is the first time I've ever experienced butt chafing! :noway: Anyone else plagued by this? I have a 10K coming up and I can only…

5K - New Personal Best!
In March of 2011 I *ran* my first 5K. I came in around 45 mins finishing time. I did 4 more 5Ks, with the fastest time being around 43 mins (and the slowest time 48 mins...slacked on training! :embarassed: ) Well, this past Sunday (3/25/12) I ran that same 5K from last year and came in at 42 mins! I had originally wanted…
