I have Crohn’s and I’m immunosuppressed. I’ve lost 4.5 stone since September with calorie counting and exercise. My disease is well managed at the moment and I’m feeling tiptop. I run 3 times a week and on my “rest days” I do something like circuits, spinning or legs, bums and tums. I would say I’m very active and my…

My Gran is a feeder. I cannot see her without her trying to force multiple cups of tea, biscuits, sandwiches, crisps and cake in my face. Yet she was the first one to comment that I’d put on loads of weight. You can’t win. Now all I get is “ohhh I think you’ve lost too much, I’m worried about you, don’t lose anymore, ooo…

I’ve lost 50lbs over the last 6 months. I’ve had about 4 or 5 planned “cheat days” in that time and I’ve always lost weight, even on those “cheat day” weeks. I factor them in by reducing calories by 100/200 in the run up and after. It’s all in the planning and to mentally prepare yourself to NOT feel guilty afterwards. You…

I understand why you would want to go but it feels a little fraudulent. Folks there are following the SW plan and you’re not so feels a bit like you’re fooling your group. Xx

Run or swim. I do both these on alternate days and love each one.

I’m only 8 weeks into my journey (down 16.8lbs), I have Crohn’s and I’m literally AMAZED at how much better my tummy feels. Less bloated, no pain at all (unheard of really for me) and SO.MUCH.ENERGY!! 44lbs to go so a long way but I see such a difference already.

Please no judgment here. I used to be 145lbs at 5ft8 so a nice size 10 before I had my girls. Over the course of 2 pregnancies I gained 6 stone (WTF)?!? I’ve since lost 3 stone but another 3 to go. I’m back to calorie counting and swimming this week after trying every diet under the sun over the last year (my youngest is…

Don't be fooled...as the above poster has said, alcohol massively dehydrates the body but you'll see your weight return to normal after you've refuelled with water. Sorry

I'm getting married in March so really not long. I lost 2 stone in 2015 and preceded to put half of that back on in 2016 but that's because I stopped MFP and got lazy. Been back on it for a week and had a whoosh of 6lbs so I know all that's water weight! Would love to join the group x

Thanks a lot for the invaluable input here guys. I understand now from reading the threads that I'm stuck as a pear but that's not so bad when I can tone it up by changing my exercise routine
-
Thanks for your replies. The number of the scale doesn't bother me so much these days but yes the shape of my body does. I've not come across much about body composition and I've no idea how to use the weight machines but I'll certainly speak to the gym staff about that.
-
I've never tried, I use the cardio machines every so often.

I swim 5/6 per week @ 45minutes.

Sorry, that is 63cms/24.8 inches - numbers the wrong way round

If it has a pool, use it. Other than that, enjoy. We spend days and years calorie counting, one holiday will not ruin all your hard work. Yeah you may gain a couple of pounds of fat and a couple more in water weight but you can lose that again in a week or two and it'll have been worth it.

I doubt she even believes half of what she said in this video, it's a clear attention seeking attempt looking for a reaction just like all that that rubbish Katie Hopkins spouts. Sad, dispicable, horrible, vile, ugly morons.

Eat less, move more, pre-plan meals, weigh in grams, exercise (for health benefits), get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, eat whatever you want but stay within your calories (chocolate is possible), eat back half of your exercise calories and most of all...be honest with yourself and you will succeed. This is a…

I'm 27 and have had Crohn's for 11 years. I stay away from spicy food, nuts, seeds, pips, sweetcorn, really green veg like spinach or caggabe, red wine (dammit), baked beans and bananas. These kind of foods make the gut work harder and cause pain, well for me anyway. My diet looks like this - breakfast: porridge, or some…

I only log so far in advance because I do a fortnightly shop and tend to know what my meals will be. What is a recomp?

I've been swimming for years 5 times a week and it's definitely my passion. I use swimming calories to eat more so depending on what I'm eating on a certain day determines how long I swim for. Usually I do 45 minutes in the week and up to 75 minutes on a weekend. I also throw 30 minutes cardio in the mix on a weekend so I…

I have Crohn's Disease so systemic inflammation is very real for me. My immune system automatically thinks it's poorly 100% of the time so attacks itself, effectively fighting an illness that is never there, causing inflammation and soreness in the stomach and small intestine. I'm on weekly medication for this. I think a…

Moderation is the key. I like a drink on a Friday or Saturday and sometimes both. I never drink through the week and exercise twice as long on the days I do drink so that it fits into my calorie allowance for those days. You ultimately have to decide what it is you want out of all this and whether you have the willpower to…

Is this really true? If so, it explains my weight loss patten to a T!! I only seem to lose once a month and it's normally quite a big drop, then nothing the rest of the weeks in the month.

Crohn's sufferer here, diagnosed 8 years. I can't eat anything rich in iron such as spinnach, cabbage, rocket. I avoid foods such as baked beans and also sweetcorn gives me pain :-(

I'd say it depends where your body loses most of its weight. I've lot 33 pounds and now have ZERO boobs because it appears to have mainly come from my top half. Seriously considering getting fake ones its that upsetting!!!

It is true that exercise isn't needed for weight loss but for me, I have been on MFP for a long time and eating at 1400 calories everyday would be hard work for me so I exercise 5 days a week in order to eat more. This works for me and many others too. As long as the deficit is there then you'll lose weight.
-
The activity levels per MFP are as follows: Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job) Lightly Active: Spend a good part of the day on your feet (e.g. teacher, salesman) Active: Spend a good part of the day doing some physical activity (e.g. waitress, mailman) Very Active: Spend most of the day…

Microgynon. Been on it for years and still lost the weight I've wanted to.
