  • I think you've been reading too much junk science about sweeteners. They're like anything else, moderation is the key. Don't drink a gallon of artificially sweetened drinks each day, or eats loads of foods that have them in them. I use Splenda, and there is all kinds of stuff about how you're gonna die of chlorine…
  • Don't buy the name brand. There are other Greek Yogurt brands that are less expensive. Chobani is one, as is Trader Joe's. Buy it in the pint or quart containers and add your own fruit and low cal sweetener.
  • Buy already shelled soybeans, (edamame), in the frozen veggies section of your grocery store. They have some fat, that's why they're higher in calories, but you can have 1/2 cup with some other veggies, or mix with some brown rice. They look kinda like lima beans, but are not starchy.
  • It's like regular yogurt, except a lot of the extra liquid has been taken out, so it's thicker. Some folks use it in place of sour cream. Just be careful about the already sweetened and fruit filled kinds, because they have more calories. I like the Fat Free plain, Trader Joe's brand with fresh fruit, and a little Splenda…
  • Save your money. Do it the old fashioned way, fewer calories in, more calories out, even though it takes time and effort. The results will be better for your wallet AND your health.
  • The moral of the story, kids, is READ THE NUTRITION INFO ON THE LABEL! Also, pay CLOSE attention to the Serving Size. Sometimes the companies make it sound like it has fewer calories, fat, etc, by making the servings ridiculously small. You could eat WAY more calories than you think, if you have what you think is a normal…
  • Oh my. I'll have to figure up the calories of that, but it sounds scrumptious. It will also be somewhat nutritious, because of the yogurt and the pumpkin! ;o)
  • I'd avoided WW for years, because I just didn't want to have to fool with going to meetings. I found out from a friend about WW online, and started it in Jan. of 2008. I'd ended up in the hospital on Christmas Day, 2007, with my heart working at 20% of capacity, due to a virus. None of the Docs said anything about my…
  • 2 oz. of dried pasta comes out to about 1 cup cooked. I just cooked some yesterday, and figured that out. ;o)
  • Sugar adds those calories so easily, especially with the little candies, that you don't even realize it. Keep some sugar free hard candies in your desk, or even in your pocket, so you won't be tempted to grab one from someone else. Stay away from the 'Sugar-Free' chocolates, because even though they have no sugar, they…
  • A newbie here. Hubby and I went out to dinner tonight, to Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse. We decided to go after we'd left Mass, so I hadn't checked online for Nutrition info. When we got back home, I Googled to find the info, but couldn't find anything. I found the link for this place, but haven't found the Restaurant listings…
  • Actually, the Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice and Weight Watchers meals are not that high in sodium. Each meal tends to have about 1/3 of the daily allowance. Both my husband and I enjoy them. His favorite is the Lean Cuisine Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp in Seafood Sauce. One of the brands is usually on sale, so we keep the…
