Taste - all of my meals until I left home were eaten with my mother who is notoriously fussy. I was not exposed to much food, and her negative feelings towards vegetables, ethnic foods, etc. were passed on to me habitually. I grew up eating meat and potatoes or spaghetti, almost exclusively rotating between the two, and…

This is my goal too - but I have a little less time than some of you. I chose 30 because everyone keeps telling me that I am just getting older and should accept my body changes. I have decided that, instead, I will be more fit on my 30th birthday than I have been thus far in my life and carry those habits forward! I am…

I workout immediately after work, before I go home for the day - that way I don't get sucked in by the couch or distracted with stuff that needs to be done at home. On weekends, I usually work out in the late morning - gives time for sleep-in, but fitting in the workout before the day gets hectic. I'd like to fit in…

My TDEE, with calculated reduction for weightloss, creates a similar calorie result to MFP baseline + eating back my exercise calories. Have you compared the two? It may make very little difference.

I measure my natural waist (narrowest part, much higher than my belly button) and also at my belly button, because I care both about my waist slimming, and losing fat from my belly itself. If you are consistent with your measurement location, where you choose is of little consequence.

When I had a trainer we did pushups in a rack - setup like you are doing squats. Push up off the bar first at chest height, progressively moving the supports (and thus the bar) down. Worked like a dream with tangible "measures" for improvement. Obviously not something everyone has access too, but is a gym alternative to…

I like IIFYM, but there are some things I have eliminated because I don't have good boundaries about them, or they are COMPLETELY empty calories (like sour candy, I LOVE sour candy). We make naan bread or pita pizza semi-regularly and it has proven delicious. We also splurge on whatever we want (for me, usually pasta from…

I play a team sport for the first time in my life.

We have a downsize fitness in my city too (Ottawa): http://www.ctvnews.ca/health/gym-geared-specifically-for-overweight-people-enters-canadian-market-1.1616857 While I think people do get preoccupied with believing everyone (anyone?) at the gym cares about how you look, I also know how hard it is to "put yourself out…

I am 5'4" and aiming for the 130s, though I was pretty happy in the low 150s in the past. I have an hour glass figure and can't imagine the 120s or lower looking good on my frame, though it's a perfect fit for some folks :).
-
5'4 158 (I am not a regular weigher, so just an estimate) Size 10-12 My pants are FAR too large in the waist, but smaller sizes won't pull up over my hips. Go figure :)

Deep-fried pub appetizers. I "save up" calories to go once a week with my softball team to eat delights like poutine, chicken fingers, wings, mozza sticks - whatever tickles my fancy that evening. Though, most of the things people listed (tacos? bacon? chocolate?) I eat regularly without even considering them "high…

5'4", probably 158-ish, 24.5" natural waist. My waist is not my problem area, haha.

I started in the 180s and am now in the 150s, I am 5'4". While I get comments constantly about my weight loss, it has had ZERO impact on my clothing size. I am an hourglass, and when I lose weight my arms, legs, waist, stomach, all slim down, but my curves hang on. Structurally, this makes it slow going to drop in clothing…

Because of a close friend's child, I often view a blog network regarding Mitochondrial Disease connecting through her blog on the topic. This has led me to www.mitochondrialdepletionsyndrome.blogspot.ca The reason I thought of it instantly when I read your post? The woman who writes the blog consistently posts the most…

5'3" and a bit, 155ish, size 9/10 pants on average but varies hugely depending on the brand, M or L top depending on fabric/style (34E boobs up in here). I wore the same pants at nearly 190, haven't bought new/smaller pants yet, it's sort of baffling.

I am between 5'3" and 5'4" was nearly 190, now in the mid 150s, aiming to lose 15 more. I do the New Rules of Lifting for Women program 3x a week, and cardio intervals (usual sprinting) another 2-3x, plus calorie counting.

Every few weeks I have a breakdown wondering why I try so hard to achieve so little (to me, anyway, I feel I have made no real headway despite completely overhauling my lifestyle). I get reminded I am not as young as I used to be, might never have the body I really want, and sometimes I just want to eat everything I crave…

Wow, Love this thread. My wife and I are shaping up together, hopefully in the coming months we can rock a stunning "after" photo :)

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE THIS T-SHIRT ON CAFEPRESS OR SOMETHING, AHHH! I needs.

For me it was a balancing act -- how unhappy am I with my current body/fitness level vs. my lack of desire to change my habits. Eventually my desire to improve my fitness exceeded my fear of changing my habits/my dislike for working out, and I stuck out the hard first weeks where everything is new and terrible (haha)…
