  • I'm not overly active in groups these days, but anyone is welcome to send me a request... I haven't conquered my issues, for sure, but I fight back as much as I can!
  • @pamplemousse21 There are doctors who will send you to local labs and do consults online. I can't remember if the lady at PCOS Diva is one of those who does online stuff ... or if she has a list of folks, but that is one place I would look. Also, my primary care doctor did not Rx me Met, but my Endocrinologist did. If you…
  • @MariahMichaels That's such great feedback. I hope that others can benefit from it... Do you find that HS responds to the AIP? I was under the impression that it was mainly hormonal/stress driven, and lately the UK seems to have found data that it's a deep infection of the sweat glands... Mine tends to go in phases. I…
  • Good luck!!!! I'm glad that you have good things in your life, but it's also insanely busy... What do you do for YOU, @plgunderson ?
  • @angelic843 Oh, my! I'm so sorry to hear of the unexpected death of your husband, and then to have that compounded by a cancer diagnosis!!! I'm so sorry to hear all of this. I'm sending you tons of well wishes!!!
  • @Fallingsnow505 Good for you, for being stronger than someone with obviously bigger issues. (hugs) and good luck as you keep celebrating YOU!
  • Welcome, @tiffanydawn8907 My other half does not get any of the genetic/physical issues that prevent me from losing weight and healing normally, so if your other half is over-the-top supportive, you're super lucky. Don't get my wrong, my guy tries, but just doesn't "get it".... Best of luck as we all continue on the path…
  • @chunkytfg Good luck to you as you continue on. I have another friend who was an intense athlete and allowed that to give him free rein to eat as he desired. He was diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic as a result. So there are real consequences to our actions, no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves otherwise. It sounds…
  • @skigal303 How are you doing now??
  • This is so awesome, all!!! Sending you the best of luck as you continue on!
  • I know that the BCP I take mitigate the worst of my PCOS symptoms. I have been back on this for the last 6 years or so. I'm not willing to trying going off it to see if I gain weight, and I'm not losing well at the moment, but I'm not gaining either, so I'll take "easy maintenance" after years and years of huge gains…
  • Melissa, Welcome! I'm sorry this greeting is so delayed. I've been struggling terribly myself as of late. I'm glad you're hear with us, and ready to fight back and keep up your momentum! Best of luck as you continue on! Hugs, Knit @1mamalissa
  • When I want sweets, I give myself something salty. Tends to kill the sweet craving right off. Feeding the sweet craving fuels the sweets craving...
  • Doing okay so far this month...but, next month, I've got a test that requires me to only drink clear liquids for a day or two... Have any of you guys/gals had to do this? I'm worried about triggering a MAD BINGE.... HUGS to everyone!
  • (hugs) Some of us are here, now and again. Welcome and good luck, @teer2008
  • I feel both better and worse since my appointment yesterday. I'll update again once I know something, but long and short - abnormal EKG came back with annual check, no reason why, and seemingly messed up referral on that, a few other referrals, and doc harping on me about cholesterol meds, which notably are not effective…
  • @AustinRuadhain Appointment was so so. Doc is harping on about me going on cholesterol meds, when a test she's citing as the reason hasn't even been confirmed as negative. Like UGH. And low fat diet. Which never worked for me. But I walked out with 4 referrals, I think? Yeah, fun times. But thank you... I do appreciate it!
  • @PatrickB_87 I'm glad to see you back, my friend. I think most folks I know have done some backsliding... And addressing mental health is critical. I'm about to have to go the round with specialists. I have a referral appointment with my primary doc tomorrow. Labs were not good. I know I'm going to be "in trouble" but I…
  • Hey, all, sorry I've been really inactive lately. I'm pretty deep in a funk, and I'm not sure what's up. Lately all my eating issues have been with compulsive eating - rather than binge eating. Where I can't NOT EAT something... It's really messing with me. I've completely given up on weight loss, too many other things…
  • @LolaDeeDaisy23 From what I understand with us PCOS folks, getting on the progesterone early is the absolute best thing. Just my basic research showed that low prog was a leading cause in early miscarriages. The fact that your doctor knows this and is watching and TREATING this is phenomenal. I'm so excited for you!!!! And…
  • Side Note - when I first lost a lot of weight, I had to stop using my CPAP because the pressure setting was too high, and it was waking me up, similar to ask you describe. I also found myself with vivid dreams sometimes waking me up... As for the blood sugar drop/cortisol release, I think it is Chris Masterjohn PhD who has…
  • Does anyone find it hard to stick on plan with the heat, not hot foods/treats, and the summery foods? That tends to be the hardest for me this time of year.
  • @LolaDeeDaisy23 I'm sending you the best luck for a sticky rainbow! <3 Congrats! Be sure to check in and let us know what's going on once you know more. *HUGS*
  • Have you tried the eating carrots thing to level out the hormones? I'm glad you've gotten to a good place overall... And as far as antidepressants, if you're okayed to get off them, I'd personally look into temporary or permanent amino acid therapy (neurotransmitters). Welcome.
  • Actually, metformin is pretty cheap, regardless of insurance coverage... It's worth checking into. If you take Vitamin D, make sure you get Vitamin K2, also, or it's not effective. Chromium makes my blood sugar chaotic, which it isn't otherwise. Vitex, I haven't taken. Ashawaghanda didn't do anything to me. Evening…
  • @hillmike56 I don't have any specific references at hand, and I'm out of pocket the next couple weeks...but I'll check back once I'm near a computer again!
  • Sending all the hugs. If you feel that this counseling is on the mental health side, there are online counselor type things? NEDA is the National Eating Disorder Association NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness Those are both online and have resources to help you get access to services. Sending even more and…
  • P.S. Someone helped, us, too... And once you make some progress, just knowing you reached out here to find help and support, you will help others, too... :)
  • Another thing I work to remember is that WILLPOWER will fail you. YOU DO NOT FAIL WILLPOWER. Willpower is finite. It has limits. It must be renewed. It is a good tool, but it can't be the ONLY thing we depend on... Motivation is also all well and good, but it strengthens and fades over time. Dig deep and find the things…
  • @brittdee88 Going low carb at doctor's request has been one of the most eye opening things I've ever done, so I can completely see that no snacking and reducing sugar would help a ton...
