Excellent advice from someone who knows what they are talking about.

Hi guys, I've been primal for about 6 years (was an ardent low carber before that, but see primal and paleo as a step forward). I focus on unprocessed foods and avoid grains. I do drink wine, and also include fruit in my diet, and dairy products. My focus is on natural. I have this site: www.lowcarbcooking.co.nz - which is…

My 2nd husband gave his ex-wife and I the SAME gift for Christmas one year (a pair of identical sailing gloves each). They went down like a lead balloon with me I can tell you! He's now ex-husband No. 2 ;)

I'm doing my first 1/2 in May. Pretty happy though as have done 2 x 10.5km races (1/4 marathons) in the last few months and am up to running 17kms (10.5 miles) so not much more to go to get a good handle on the 1/2 distance. I'm planning to have run at least 4-5 1/2 marathon distances before I do my first official one.…

I started running in May '13 and have done 2 x 10km races, and am training for my first half in May. I'm running 4 x a week, with a series of 5kms during the week and my long run (always 10kms plus) in the weekend. My longest distance so far is 16kms (so 5 to go to make 1/2 marathon distance). I lift on my between days -…

- Complete the Oxfam 100km nonstop walk in April 2014 (had to pull out 4.75kms from the end this year after walking 75kms on an injured knee - heartbreaking!) - first half marathon in May 2014 (have done 2 x 1/4 marathons this year, about 25 x 10km runs and am up to 16kms in my training) - do another 1-2 half marathons…

I'm 53 and got 44 for my fitness level.

We spent close to $10,000 on one of our cats a couple of years ago. She was young though. We are a little more pragmatic with older cats. By rule of thumb, once over 10 we evaluate the impact of surgery or treatment on the cat's quality of life, and whether we are looking to prolong life because we don't want to go through…

The niggles can be caused by your shoes...so possibly better to see a specialist while you have them.
-
Have you had your shoes fitted by a specialist running store? It makes a huge difference having your gait, posture and running style professionally analysed, and shoes selected based on your specific needs....

Yes, yes, yes, yes...... I plan my holidays around places I'd like to run!!
-
Fantastic job OP! Mind you.....give it a few weeks and all of a sudden you will wonder if you can run 6kms (and you will be able to), then 7kms....and in no time you will be up to 10kms :)

Yes to the minimalist shoes - have been injury and pain free since changing to them (although they don't suit everyone). I have Mizuno minimalist shoes and love them - and they changed my enjoyment of running too. I've just run my 3rd 10km (was only running 5kms as of 6 weeks ago and have just gone ahead distance-wise in…

Wow :)

I third dcrainmaker - great reviews.

Cant give you a recommendation but I have the 610 which is the touch screen one and love it. My husband has the model down, with the bezel, and is also extremely happy...I suspect you won't go wrong with either of the models you're looking at.

Well said.

Love the story and ADORE the dress!

What a great sounding event, well done :)

Truly inspirational. Thank you.

I did my first 10km on Saturday - 1 hour 9 mins.

I would like to be more supportive but as my husband says, I'm horribly cheerful by nature. Especially first thing in the morning!

Sorry, can't rant. Love the changes, love being fit, love the friends I've made here. And waaaay too busy to feel sorry for myself or worry about any small short term hurdles.....

You can do a fair amount of New Rules of Lifting for Women at home. Just buy 2nd hand equipment and make sure you book yourself a time in your day for your workout - don't try to fit it in, fit other stuff around it - it's worth it!

It's wonderful to see your results Beeps. I had a break from lifting while training for an endurance walking event and then surgery which precluded me from lifting for 10 weeks afterwards. Now however I'm back into NRoL4W and loving it (again). Those 3 favourite shots of yours are beautiful by the way, your musculature is…

Good policy. I sold all my fat clothes on a local auction site to pay for my new smaller sized clothes, and have given some to charity. Keeping them would admit the possibility of defeat. And that is not acceptable....and just isn't going to happen.
-
Fantastic! Well done you :)

I have a Garmin Forerunner 610 (GPS, HRM, cal count - the works) which is the touch screen model. Love it, love it, love it....

That's a wonderful NSV....I certainly remember experiencing that one myself and being over the moon. :)
