If you are sure that your exercise calories are correct then you shouldn't be afraid to eat them. Your body needs fuel for your exercise activities. Try eating all your exercise calories a few days a week. Drink lots of water and change up your exercise routine. When it comes to calories, less isn't always better…

I don't think you need to be tall and skinny to instruct, you just have to be able to work at a fitness level to push people in the class and motivate them. One of my favorite spin instructors is shorter and not skinny but she is obviously in good cardio condition and I get a great workout in her class. Good luck!

I have a basic Polar, FT4 and it shows calories burned.

I bet some of your gain is water weight. Drink lots of water and see it that helps. How much are you restricting your calories during the week? Are you eating your exercise calories? If you deprive yourself too much on a regular basis, that could cause you to go overboard on cheat days. No matter what, don't get…

That's great! I'm an avid runner but not very fast either. It doesn't matter how fast it is to the finish but the mere fact that you finish!

In my opinion, Polar is one of the best! I have the FT4 and love it.

You can do it..I would suggest not to diet but use this site to set realistic goals for a healthy lifestyle.

Exercise is important but nutrition is key to losing weight and keeping it off. I don't believe in diets since they rarely keep weight off. Moderation and healthy choices will keep it off in the long run. Best of luck!

I smoked and attempted to quit several times to only go back to it. I thought I could be a social smoker but it only takes a few for me to be addicted again. I haven't smoked in 5 years and I am in the best shape of my life. Quitting does cause some metabolism changes but exercise and eating healthy will combat the weight…

I have the Polar FT4 with cheststrap. Very easy to use and accurate. Some people say the chest strap is uncomfortable but you really get used to it and it's more accurate since it's continously monitoring your HR.

I'm 39 and really struggled with the last 10 lbs until I started using this site. I was exercising like crazy but would lose a few then gain it back. Tracking my calories and drinking water really worked for me.

Don't take pills. You've lost before so you can do it again. Try changing your exercise routine and track your calories. Make sure you are eating enough and drinking lots of water.

I would highly recommend getting a heart rate monitor with chest strap. You don't have to spend tons of money (I have a polar that I got for around 100) but it is well worth the investment. The machines where I workout are compatible with polar hrms but my calorie counts are still not accurate on the machines so I go by…

runnersworld.com has a free training program and beginner running program. It's important to start slowly and build gradually to prevent injuries. Good luck!

I have a polar FT4 which tracks my calories burned. Was right around $100. There are more expensive ones with more bells and whistles but mine works fine for what I need. I've had other brands but Polar is by far one of the best and most accurate in my opinion.

I use a HRM and my calories burned are always lower than what the machine says even when I program my age and weight. I prefer using a HRM since I know I can use it for all my activities and get a consistent calories burned.

I have the biggest loser scale (got it from Target) and love it.

I'm signed up for a half in Jan and Feb. I like having a goal to work towards, it helps keep me motivated!

I've ran 2 full marathons and 8 half marathons. Running can be really addicting!

Just finished my coke zero before reading this, I have 2 per day and feel that it's something I'm not willing to give up. I've reached my goal weight so no impact on weight loss. Moderation is key!
-
i reached my goal weight so this is my first week trying the maintenance calories.

I think it's eating out in general. Even when I try to eat healthy, the sodium content is so high. I never really noticed it before but it's crazy! There are some items on Chili's menu that are over 6000 on sodium, for one meal!
-
That's awful! I have steered away from many Kellogg cereals since many of them contain high fructose corn syrup or corn sugar.
-
I go over some days, especially if I eat out. Even lower calorie meals out are loaded with sodium!
-
I love spin and go 2-3 times a week.

People can be so mean! Don't get discouraged by how other people act. I think people who act like that have a problem and are not even worth the effort. I wish you luck on the rest of your education, keep strong!!

I have a Garmin 310XT and love it! There are other models that have HRM and GPS at a lower price. Shop around since many offer discounts this time of the year. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=142&ra=true

I would recommend wearing a HRM. How much you burn depends on your weight and fitness level. I take an interval class that is supposed to average between 500-600 calories burned. According to my HRM, I burn between 350-400 based on my weight.
