  • There is a Whole Foods and Trader Joes by my Union Square office. Trader Joes can be a great value but the checkout process is soooooooo tiresome. Your whole shopping experience is spent in the checkout line (no, I'm not kidding).
  • I love the Mossa series.
  • Do HIIT ... workout in 5 minute bursts. You can set your Charge HR to buzz you reminders, top of the hour - get your heart rate up / jog in place, do push-ups etc
  • I did Insanity and didn't lose any scale weight but lost inches and got in the best shape of my life. I just started Max 30 - I'm actually on Day 4 and while challenging, it isn't going to cause that much of a dent in terms of caloric deficit. I burned about 200 calories doing Tabata Power and that video is scheduled twice…
  • I went to CKO on a Groupon initially and signed up when they had a great deal around the holidays / Black Friday. I love it, different instructors have different styles - I never get bored or know what to expect. I also noticed (at my location) that if I go to the early class (6am) it's practically empty and like having a…
  • I'm still deciding - but if I sign up it will be for the May 9th in NJ.
  • I'm thinking about buying Max 30 or doing another Insanity round. I loved Insanity (hated T-25). I didn't lose weight either but I lost inches and dress sizes. The difference was noticeable. If you are measuring success by the number on the scale, Insanity will piss you off - you have to take pics and bust out the…
  • I have the Zip and a Polar FT4 HRM ... I waited for the Charge HR to be released with hopes of it eliminating me using two monitors. But from what I am hearing, the Charge HR only takes snapshots of your heart-rate and isn't very accurate for tracking workouts. Also, I wear gloves for kickboxing so a wrist-based tracker…
  • It's fine, open 24hrs at $10/mo with no cancellation fee. If you get the $20 membership, you can go to any of their locations and they are all across America like a popular fast food chain, you can bring a guest each time, you can tan (which I don't since I'm Black, lol) and use their chair massage and hydro-massage - they…
  • I tried out a Microsoft Band in their store last weekend ... it has all of the bells and whistles, HRM, GPS - you can even check messages but it's so annoyingly clunky and it faces down which made me fear I'd destroy the screen. I could see myself getting aggravated with that thing on my wrist all day. I have a Polar FT4 -…
  • I was hoping the Charge HR would eliminate me needing to use two devices. I wear a Zip and when I workout, I also track with the Polar FT4 HRM. I do a cardio kickboxing class and it doesn't appear (based on the Fitbit FAQs) that boxing will be accurately tracked.
  • I have a Fitbit Zip - I had a Nike Fuelband and hated it but think I'll go back to the wrist-trackers once the HR is released. I love that I don't have to charge the Zip. I hate that I have to wear a Polar HRM during workouts, plus the Zip - so with the HR I can use one device!
  • Pivotal Living has a tracker (Amazon exclusive) being released this week. Its only $15 and has a display - monitor's activity and sleep.
  • I don't feel carbs are the enemy. For me, cutting carbs is like cutting hunger and cravings - that's why I do it. When I up the protein and reduce the carbs I can go longer without thinking about food - I'm fuller / longer. If I have a high carb breakfast (like cereal, bagel) at 8am - I'm ready to chew my arm off in an…
  • I'm married to the saboteur. He wants to dine out and order in ... it's part of "enjoying life" but he can afford to eat more, he is taller, has more muscle, higher metabolism and more of an active job. Plus, he gets to play soccer and basketball with colleagues on his lunch break. I can't do the Bonefish Grill and…
  • The battery on my Zip tends to last 3-4 months ... I never got 6 months out of it but I love that I don't have to do connect to my computer EVER or charge multiple times per week as I did when I had a BodyMedia and Nike Fuelband.
  • I should create something comparable ... I could use a "get rich quick" scheme. I'll show my @ss to help sell the product, even though my shapely @ss comes from squats and genetics.
  • <= scored almost 110k points with Insanity and got a 5 star workout. I have the DVD set but doing it on the XBOX One is awesome. You get to challenge people and know how you size up - it helps me since I'm competitive. Sucks more people aren't able to take advantage of this format.
  • For me, the sequence with the Level 1 drills followed by ski abs and then in and out abs ... KILLER
  • Last time I did Insanity I didn't lose weight, I lost inches and dropped a pants size, gained strength stamina and endurance. When you are trying to cut, sculpt and define ... Insanity is awesome. I try to follow along with 40/40/20 but its usually closer to 40/30/30. Its hard to keep the fat at 20 - you won't be able to…
  • The only workout where I feel it gets kinda tricky on when to break is Pure Cardio - since after the stretches there are no breaks until the workout is over.
  • She-Ra and Thunda-Thunda-Thundercats HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • It depends on what you select ... I'm eating a salad right now from Just Salad, roasted turkey health cobb - its only 250 calories (even though it has swiss and avocado). I enjoy the taste of the veggies so I don't use dressing, I have them put it on the side. Salads from restaurants are a joke ... it's less calories to…
  • Use "The Cleaner" from Century systems - it's a 7 day detox / cleanse (not a fast, you can still eat) or try a glycemic index diet ... Google "military diet" Both of these can offer a quick short-term fix. You aren't going to lose that amount in 2 weeks doing it the RIGHT way.
  • <= My score from Plyo this morning (Insanity on XBOX) is my profile pic, I feel like I did great today. Burned 447 in 40 minutes or so. I smashed the level one drills, ski abs and in-and-out abs ... YES !!!
  • I gained 4lbs my first week of Insanity last time and they didn't come off until the last week of the program for a whopping net zero but I lost inches ... was able to see definition in my abs that I'd never seen before, tighten up and sculpt my thighs and my arms looked great afterward as well. I just started Insanity…
  • This is my 2nd round - I did this workout around this time last year. Last time, I listened to everyone who said "no, you can't do anything else - its too much, you'll risk injury" and ONLY did Insanity despite knowing I could push harder (especially in month 1 where the videos are only 40 minutes where the warm-up and…
  • Its great, I did my video this morning with it - something about earning points or getting 5 stars for the way I completed an exercise gets me pumped up to squeeze out a few more. Brazilian Butt Lift and a bunch of JM videos are in there too - I may do a hybrid.
  • People have to be careful with those pills ... years ago, I got pills at the gym that was supposed to boost your metabolism and give you energy, supposedly to make workouts more productive and effective - it messed with my thyroid and I ended up with hyperthyroidism (then subsequently hypo) and a goiter the size of a…
