  • Thanks for the recommendations. I've been feeding my cats Wellness and they do pretty well on it but it gets rather expensive for 3 cats plus what the dogs manage to sneak in and steal before I can catch them. Seasonally, (and going on in my house right now) the cats gift me with fur-balls :(. One time my kids and I were…
  • Check out paleoleap.com. They have a ton of information, tips, and great recipes. I just bought their Paleo Restart program and am liking it very much. I also search Pinterest as I'm a visual recipe gal.
  • I'm a single mom and work full time too. My daughter is 16 and my son is 21 and while they're not much help in the kitchen I do make them do other things (trash, kitty litter, lawn mowing, laundry, etc. that more than makes up for me doing the cooking). I tend to pick 3 or 4 meals a week and then fill in the rest with…
  • I have not finished reading It Starts With Food yet but I bought the Paleo Restart this morning and have no regrets. I've been looking at it over the last week or so and I think it's an awesome deal now that I have it. For me personally, I want to do a month of Autoimmune Paleo and Paleo Restart lets me customize the menus…
  • Do you mind sharing what you switched to. I have three stinky cats!
  • Just tried to add my food for the day and am getting the same thing.
  • I supplement DHEA and magnesium with pills as well per my doctor. And I love putting Epsom salts in a hot bath along with about 10 drops of lavender. Sigh. That helps me sleep as much as anything else.
  • You are so right dang it :) I've actually done really well considering I came from drive through what ever was on my way home and fake frozen food meals every day for, like years. Looking back I'm pretty sure that plus the stress is what put me where I am. Don't get me wrong, we have tried lots of new foods and recipes…
  • I was taking Armour first thing along with all of my other vitamins and a cup of coffee afterwards but I've recently changed that to where I take my Armour first thing by itself with water, then take the rest of my vitamins an hour later and eat breakfast and coffee about 30 minutes after that. I can tell I have more…
  • Thank you both! I would love to do the Whole 30, I really would, but I'm not in a place to go that strict and stick with it right now. I realize the fact that I have a serious sugar and diet coke addiction screams that I should do it but I also just received a huge promotion at work and so all my energy right now is going…
  • I second the new Chex oats. They are great. I heat mine up with Coconut Milk and add fresh blueberries and craisins. This is my go to winter breakfast.
  • Hi All. I'm Lucy, 51, and I was diagnosed with Hashi's last September but as with others it took a few years for my doctor to finally figure it out. I probably started having issues about 5-6 years ago. Last September I dropped all Gluten and loaded up on supplements and I started feeling so much better, but no weight…
  • For those of you who have purchased the Paleo Restart is it a one shot deal or can you do it over and over again? Looking at their site, it appears as though it is a one time membership but I can't tell if you can keep going once the 30 days is up. Thanks in advance for your help :) I'm kind of floundering right now as to…
  • I'm looking at Whole 30 and have not seen the Paleo Restart before. I need to reign in my eating habits, especially the sweets and breads. The 10 Day Sugar Detox fascinates me but I think the Whole 30 is probably a more reasonable approach for me.
  • 51 and on Armour for about a year now. No weight loss but I'm not giving up. Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism is a great group. There are lots of nice and supportive folks!
  • I'm so glad I hopped back on and read this post! I have been toying with the idea of going to a doctor and asking for some sort of medication for anxiety and I did make an appointment with a therapist. But, deep breathing and reducing caffeine has really helped me. Simple, yet effective.
  • Thanks Lindsey. I am interested in learning what she has to say but I've already told her I'm not changing anything without my doctor's permission.
  • Wow Slick - thank you. I'm saving these off as Valentines is right around the corner!
  • I second the recommendation for Pamela's. We made drop biscuits from their biscuit mix and my picky teenage daughter who is NOT gluten free gobbled them right up.
  • I just started walking again. Also, how about yoga? You may find it helps. There is a website I really like called doyogawithme.com and it's free. There are tons of class videos from 10 minutes on up, and at different levels too.
  • They can test for adrenal fatigue in blood work. From what I understand though a saliva test or a stress test is more accurate. I had a stress test done but I don't know the name of it. I can try and find out next time I go in. My doctor is an internist and I'm in Dallas, Texas USA if that helps you any. My gynecologist…
  • Wow. Thank you all so much! I feel so motivated now. Back to my treadmill, quiet time and knitting needles it is! I love hearing how you all have had success using different methods. Thank you for sharing. I actually told my boss today that I loved her and I would work my tail off for her but that I was not going to bring…
  • Hi all. I think this has been one of the busiest week's I've had both work wise and home wise in a long time. I fell off with a gluten free waffle and nutella this morning and I know it was pure stress eating. I may need a reset of my reset! Like several of you here I'm fighting whatever crud this is that is causing me to…
  • Oh thank you for the links and ideas. I actually just got one of those Homedics Envirascape relaxing mini rock waterfall things so I could totally do nature sounds. And my Dad has been telling me to try meditation for a while so thanks for reminding me! 10 years ago I decided to try a yoga class at my rec center (it was…
  • @lindsey - my doctor put me on DHEA last fall when I was diagnosed (along with quite a list of other vitamins). I about fell out of my chair when he explained it to me. He said, and I quote: "you need DHEA to support and keep your adrenals functioning. Your adrenals give you testosterone. I am a man. I get my testosterone…
  • Survived day 2 lol. Today was my first day back and work and there was STILL a ton of junk food on the kitchen table (cookies, candy, chocolate coated things - ugh). I avoided it like the plague and only went in there to fill my water bottle and get my healthy lunch out of the fridge. A lady at work brought in a citrus…
  • You rock! Thank you for sharing this. I saw true maple syrup crystals at Sprouts the other day (someone posted about it here somewhere) but did not pick anything up yet. We do love our ribs lol.
  • I struggle with this one big time. There is a book by a Dr. Mark Hyman about sugar detox and getting rid of the sugar in your bloodstream and controlling the cravings. I've not bought it yet but the idea fascinates me. Maybe someone here has read it already and can comment. Here is a link in which he outlines 10 things you…
  • Ribs! I'm going to have to alter my favorite recipe though as it calls for brown sugar. You basically rub the ribs with brown sugar, paprika and a small amount of cayenne pepper (if you like the kick). Pour your favorite paleo bbq sauce on and let them cook all day. When they are done if you want a little crispness you can…
  • I really need to lose weight but my main focus right now is on continuing to regain my health (and energy). My challenges are going to be getting off diet coke, sugar, and dairy (and in doing so hope the weight loss happens). I think I've just about decided to attempt all of my grocery shopping at Sprouts because there are…
