  • I drink a lot of hot tea (because I like it) and I do think it helps with my appetite. I do use milk powder and sucralose in mine, so it's not totally calorie free. But it's way lower calorie than anything else I'd eat for the same feeling of having my stomach full of something warm and delicious. I can go a long time…
  • I cook one big meal every couple of days & we eat it until it's gone. I have 4 kids. They either eat it, or they make themselves something else. Granted, my kids are now older 19, 16, 14, 12, so that's not a big deal for them. I don't like to cook & I have no problem eating the same thing every day. I will also freeze it…
  • Women should weigh what makes them happy & should aim for *healthy for them* & date whatever person they love regardless of that person's size. There are no absolutely no rules for this in a relationship. Personally, I did feel bad about myself when I weighed more than my husband. He's 8" taller than me & I was morbidly…
  • It is a struggle for me as well. Even after weight loss surgery, regain, re-loss, & several years in maintenance, I have to think about every bite I put in my mouth. I wish it were easy.

  • I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy in 2012. I lost a lot & then regained some (not all) & then re-lost it. I've lost a total of around 150 lbs. I would definitely do it again. It was life changing for me. It is not easy & you still have the same eating issues you started out with. It's the same as any weight loss method.…
  • I like my height. I'm 5' 2.5". I do wish I could eat more & not gain. I also wish buying clothes was easier. I don't wear petite clothes. My legs are long for my height, my torso is really short, my hips are wide, & my chest is disproportionately large. I have to try on everything. I think that everyone has clothing…
  • My dh is an alcoholic. He has been clean for over 3 years now. He goes to AA meetings several times a week. I'm very proud of him--I know it's hard work. He was never physically or verbally abusive to me or our kids. He was always a binge drinker & then it just got worse & worse, until he was drinking sooo much. Alcoholism…
  • I would say no, it's not "needed", but I just read this article today: cnn.com/2017/05/19/health/weight-loss-circadian-rhythms-drayer/index.html that basically says that people who eat breakfast lose more than those who skip it.
  • @middlehaitch , Ewa Michalak is online: https://www.ewa-michalak.pl/main-eng.html . She will do size exchanges if you order a size she carries in stock. If you have to special order a size, she charges a little extra & it is non-returnable. She does have a size calculator which I used once a long time ago. It put me in a…
  • I've lost around 150 lbs now and have lost a ton in my chest. I am at maintainence now and don't really have any more fat left on my chest. The last pounds made my band smaller, but my bust didn't get any smaller. I am still large and have very dense tissue. It really does depend on the tissue makeup of your breasts. As…
  • When you snap combs trying to comb conditioner through it in the shower. Although, I've recently discovered 2 things that help: 1) Kinky Curly Knot Today Detangler & Leave-in Conditioner--this stuff has the best slip I've ever found & 2) not piling my hair on my head when I wash & condition it--just put the shampoo or…
  • I agree with this. I was not as heavy as you are, but I was morbidly obese before I finally decided I couldn't live that way anymore. I ended up having weight loss surgery--a vertical sleeve gastrectomy in 2012. I've lost around 150 lbs & I'm maintaining now. I'm not advocating surgery for you right now because I think you…
  • I weigh every day & track it in Libra as well. I generally have about a 2 lb swing either way, but sometimes it can be up to 5 lbs depending on the TOM & sodium intake. I'm in maintenance now so having the app track my average is useful. I can see if I'm trending up or down over time & make adjustments. I'm a dysfunctional…
  • I had Lasik done in 2000. It was the best! I don't remember what my prescription was. They had to switch to the big letters for my eye exams. I wasn't able to see the numbers on my alarm clock even 2 feet away. I wore contacts for years, but I have pterygium in both eyes & eventually it got so the contacts would not lay…

  • I weigh every morning in my sleep bra & underwear, after I use the bathroom. On mornings where I didn't like the result, I've tried taking off the bra & underwear, but the weight was always the same :'( . I can't weigh after I take a shower. My hair is like a giant curly sponge & adds like 4 lbs to my weight.
  • I didn't have a DS, I had a VSG in 2012. There is a group bariatric patients: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/637-gastric-bypass-vsg-lapband . There could be other DS'ers there.
  • Congratulations! September 3rd is my oldest son's birthday :) .
  • I take the Nature Made softgels. They are not chewable, but I have a sleeve & can swallow mine. I hate the taste of vitamins, so I always get the softgels for whatever I can so I don't taste them when they hit my tongue. You can get them on Amazon. They have kept my blood levels up. At Walmart there are B12 gummys you…
  • I agree with everyone else. You need to talk to someone that deals with eating disorders. Do not determine your health on your jean size. You can still be underweight in size 6 jeans. Stop weighing yourself & logging your food until you can get into counseling.
  • I'm not sure exactly what the question is either. If you are trying to maintain your weight, but are still losing, you need to increase your calorie intake no matter what your dietary restrictions are. You will just have to eat more of the foods you are allowed to eat. It will be easier if you are able to eat calorie dense…
  • I think you add in in to your food log & it adds the calories to your day. Search breastfeeding. Check with your doctor or lactation consultant to see how many calories you need to maintain your supply at different stages. It will depend on the age of your baby & whether you are nursing exclusively or eventually beginning…
  • I have a very strong sense of hunger and don't have much tolerance for it. Because of that, I don't time my meals. I use my calories when I feel the hungriest. I wake up very hungry, but I'm not that hungry at lunch time. For me, hunger is like a wave. It builds until I'm nauseous, but if I get through that & don't eat it…
  • I love the books. I used to re-read them all every time a new one came out. I haven't watched the show. It may be good, but I don't want to mess with my mental images of the characters.
  • I've lost about 130 lbs now. I had a tummy tuck 2 years ago to get rid of the "apron" & am very glad I did. It was just as life changing as the weight loss. I still have some loose skin that I couldn't afford to fix: on my upper thighs, bingo wings on my arms, my back looks like I'm melting, my neck is very loose, & a fold…
  • That's funny! I'm the same way. I like to eat meat, but I won't touch it raw. I make my husband or one of my kids put it in the pan. If nobody is home to put the meat in the pan, I won't make dinner. I am OK with frozen meat patties like bioklutz mentioned because I can just pry them out of the package with a fork & drop…
  • I'm an extremely picky eater & don't try to keep eating things until I like them. That really doesn't work for me. I generally go the other direction. I will sometimes start out eating foods that I am OK with--don't love, but don't really dislike, but the more I eat them, the more I dislike them. It gets to the point where…
  • I buy pre-cooked meat. I like the John Soules fajita meat--either steak or chicken. You can get pre-cooked chicken breasts of different flavors. Or you could just throw some in the crock pot & shred it up & freeze it in 3-4 oz servings. I don't like to cook either.
  • I would like to second & third this. I can now use MFP to help control my anxiety about food because I know my numbers & they give me control & I can identify when I'm having disordered thoughts. Your girlfriend is not at that place yet & needs professional help to sort things out. The fact that she's gone into another…
  • My son's boyfriend has very bad eczema & they just discovered that dairy is making it worse. He's eliminated dairy & it improved but did not go away, so it apparently isn't the only cause. I just heard a story on NPR--Health in a Heartbeat, about a study that links calcium carbonate in tap water to developing eczema in…

  • I'm going to link you to the stickied helpful threads: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10300319/most-helpful-posts-general-diet-and-weight-loss-help-must-reads#latest . Those are for later. I had a sleeve in 2012. At this point, you are most likely still on liquids & you should have been given a pretty…
