  • I had no discernible results with this program using 12's and 20's for weight and no modifications. Maybe it's not for people who are already conditioned, lol. Seemed a bit easy.
  • Probably muscle gains from moving the scale. Muscle weighs more than fat!!! Or you stood on it differently. Scales are inaccurate and weight fluctuates all day. I would not weigh myself multiple times daily or even daily if I were you. Do it a few days apart at a consistent time. As long as the general trend is downward…
  • No idea if they're accurate but I have one. Mine says I burn something like 2900 on days I don't exercise and 3800-4000+ on days when I do, which seems really high.
  • Height: 5'6" Weight: 154lb BF: 23.8ish% Thighs: 22" Calves: 17"!!! Do I win?
  • Don't get discouraged if you also don't see results. I saw so many victorious threads here, I thought I'd try it. I'm on Day 22 (with added lifting 3DAW and cardio) and haven't lost anything scale-wise or inches-wise. I'm about .2%BF down, which is negligible. If you're already very conditioned, I'm not sure it will do…
  • What you should do is a lot of wide grip pullups and other exercises to work your lats so then you can have a really beefy upper body. Then your hips will look super narrow! It's all about proportions.
  • I've been lifting for a few years. I wish it were that easy to accidentally get muscles because buying more plates is expensive. I should be curling 40-45's but can only afford 20-pound dumbbells, lol. But seriously, if you want big muscles you won't just accidentally get them. (ps yes that is me in my profile pic and i am…
  • What are your leg measurements? Mine are: thigh- 22" calf- 17" biceps- 13" (that's not a leg but shhh) I'm 5'6" and weigh 153 at 24% bf. Unless your leg measurements are near where mine are, you don't have trees, lol.
  • Man, I would love to get rid of my curves. My goal is 19% BF. (Right now am at 24%, so I have to lose about 12 pounds of fat without compromising any muscles. I'm already at 116 pounds lean body mass so I'm not sure if I really need to be more muscular??)
  • If your best mate is an amazing trainer and knows what he and/or she is doing, why is it necessary to ask the forum here if you are doing something wrong? Why not just ask him and/or her? Also if this is a secret workout program that they do at your gym in particular, why would we know what you're doing wrong with it?…
  • My opinion is that if you are really burning 1000 calories a day and eating less than 1000 calories a day, you need to quit doing that before you cause yourself irreparable harm. If you have been losing 3 pounds a week doing this, you may be starving yourself. Seeing a doctor may be a good idea at this point if you have…
  • What are you doing for exercise? What kind/how long. When you say "cheat meal," what does that mean? Are you going way over in calories, eating things you don't eat during the rest of the week? What? What is your goal? What do you consider "a few pounds?" We need to know some of these answers before we can even begin to…
  • I'm not sure I'd listen to the things your recruiter says, since half of them are going to be what you want to hear to get you to sign up, and the other half are quick fixes that may not be healthy so he can make his quota or get a bonus. Neither may be based in truth. I have a friend who joined the Marine Corps because he…
  • The thing is that the stuff you read about wheat nowadays is usually all written in such a way as to convince you that it's true. I read wheat belly and quit eating it because of all the evidence that guy (yes, I do know his name) presents for it being such bad stuff for everybody, but if you read the whole thing, he also…
  • What to do? Learn to not be so picky is the best thing. I don't like having to commute for hours in heavy traffic but I do like being able to pay my bills. Find things you're willing to tolerate and maybe eventually you will get used to them and then branch out further. I used to hate onions and mushrooms but now I like…
  • If you're trying to find out if you have an intolerance, you need to remove all sources of it for an extended amount of time (a few weeks). See if you feel better but keep some skepticism about it since feeling better may be a placebo effect if you wanted it to make you feel better. If you reintroduce it after not eating…
  • I am not a man. While you could up the weights to do 30DS with (I do it with 20's and 12's, in addition to running and 3DAW full body lifting with heavy weights), you run the risk of injuring something trying to keep up with Natalie and Whosits. It is easy to use bad form on 30DS and injure yourself, which is why the girls…
  • Most women do not like creatine because it will make the scale go up as your muscles retain water. It will also make your muscles look a bit more "swole." If the only thing you are doing for strength is 30DS, taking creatine will do zero for you except make you frustrated at the scale. If you do actual weight lifting, it…
  • This is what's up. You don't have to eat "breakfast foods" at breakfast. I actually really dislike traditional "breakfast foods" (my mother, however, can eat "breakfast" or "pizza" for any meal). I usually just have a protein shake and coffee (both things I drink around the clock) because I don't have time to do anything…
  • He's not the boss of you. Do it, anyway. You can even get "bulky" if you want to, because it's your body!! Although it may take you several years to get there. I'm actively trying to add muscle mass, and it didn't happen overnight... (yes, that is me in my user picture. I am a horse person hybrid IRL)
  • I use 12's for everything except the chest fly, wherein I use 20's.
  • I listen to: Meshuggah Entombed Amon Amarth At the Gates In Flames Finntroll Manegarm Terasbetoni and similar acts.
  • You'll be fine. Nobody will look at you because everybody in the gym is too busy checking themselves out. Like I'm pretty sure buff dudes go to gyms but I look at my own muscles way more than I look at theirs. Just make sure you read the whole contract and don't sign something you don't agree with. Make sure you know…
  • Something like martial arts would be pretty cool, IMO. I would have been all over that if my mom had given me the option at 14 (but I'm also what they call "different" so just because I would have liked it doesn't necessarily mean your daughter will).
  • I want to look like Secretariat.
  • Same here, although if we don't count stuff like foil or garbage bags or whatever, it's nearer to the $35 end, usually.
  • Assuming you worked out on the elliptical every day for 14 days, if it's off by 25, you only would have overeaten by around 350 for the whole two week period. Not really that big a deal, to be honest. Not worth the cortisol spike getting upset gives you. Now you know the discrepency between your HRM and the machine and can…
  • I've been actively trying to get "bulky" for the last three years so I always have to lift a people's eyebrow at women who think lifting more than a 3-lb dumbbell is going to accidentally give them arms bigger than mine.
  • Yeah, that's about the best advice anybody can give you in this situation. You could try to go on a crazy crash diet (I don't recommend this at all) but there's no guarantee you would lose weight and you could end up harming yourself. Not worth it.
