  • Thanks everyone! I think everyone says a "tight" higher size because its so hard to buy the next bigger size when gaining. At least it was for me! And they're fancy tights. :) I was skating in the Chicago Pride Parade with Derby Lite. It was so much fun!

  • This is really cool! It also made me think about how much change there has been in what a week's worth of groceries for my family looked like a year ago versus now. We were almost identical to the USA picture. Now I think we're closer to maybe Poland.
  • 5'3" - still in progress! Before - Size 18/20. During - Size 10/12.
  • I love that I am able to do things with my son that I couldn't do when I was heavier. We can fit on rides together, we can jump on our trampoline, etc. I also have a ton of energy! I actually get restless on days I don't work out or do something active. Before, I was content to sit at home and do nothing and watch TV all…
  • Hi everyone! I'm in the middle of Stage 1. This group is inspiring! Definitely still feeling awkward at the gym, but less so thanks so all the great advice found here! Today I actually stood up to someone at the gym. Usually the guys are fine - they ignore me or sometimes help with form/tips/encouragement. This one guy…
  • Great job staying with it, your results are fantastic!
  • Thanks everyone, and the pants are from Forever 21. It was my first time in that store, another NSV in itself!

  • I had a FitBit, but I ended up returning it because I was sick of it logging steps due to driving. You can edit that data, but it was just too fussy for me. Then I bought a BodyBugg SP (links with the iPhone) off eBay for about $50, but it was a crazy amount of money to get started on their website if you buy a used…
  • Thanks for your reply. I've been reading through the stickies, website, posts, and FB page. I just set my MFP goal to my RMR (1814) and don't plan to net below it. I feel like a crazy person for doing it though! Hopefully its so crazy it works. ;)
  • Perfect, thank you!
  • Is there way to move this to the General Weight Loss Help forum? It may fit better there.
  • "Substituting 1 lb. ground turkey vs. 1 lb. 90% lean ground beef, I save a mere 30 cal./serving: 100 cal/serving. Decreasing the meat isn't an option, my carnivore husband objects." Could you stretch the meat with black beans? Its tasty and hearty, so a meat reduction may not be as noticable. Also make sure you're…
  • It is - congrats! :)
  • Thanks for the link, I will definitely check it out! I agree that BMI isn't very accurate. I know some very strong, very fit people who are classified as obese per BMI. It is definitely all about body fat percentage, strength, and fitness level plus an understanding of nutrition. Now that I have some of the initial weight…
  • Age: 30 Height: 5'3" SW: 220ish - may have been even higher CW: 169 GW: 130ish - mostly I want to be strong and athletic
  • I've felt a lot of the same! I started with Derby Lite (a fun/fitness version of derby) and then joined a newly formed local league. I had a ton of fun doing Derby Lite. Even though I had just started working on my fitness and was 90 pounds overweight, I felt like I was strong and getting stronger. It was a totally…
  • Thanks! That was taken at the Chicago Pride Parade in 2011, and he was only four. I think we're growing a giant. ;) We'll be eye to eye by next summer! Less than a foot to go.
  • There are some *amazing* roller derby players who are bigger gals. I think some of the Windy City Rollers best players are curvy wonder women! I started with a local league but had scheduling conflicts. Since then I've been skating with Derby Lite, a fitness version of roller derby. It has been a blast!
  • You look fantastic. Congratulations on your success, and I admire your dedication!
  • Thanks! I think I do have a fair bit of muscle - roller derby + a 4'3" five year old son helped with that. However, I also have more than a bit of jiggle! My mini goal this week is to get started on The New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women to help build strength and remove said jiggle.
  • Hi everyone! I'm Maeby Rude. I skated briefly in 2007 with the Chicago Siren's fresh meat, but before I could try out the league disbanded. A league formed near me in January, and I skated with them for a few months. However, they had practices before I got out of work so I didn't feel like I could commit to a team if I…
