  • 2500 calories is a tremendous amount for some people. I'm 5'0" and weight 105lbs. If I ate that much I would be in pain.
  • Yes I have this. I have to be on an estrogen patch to prevent osteoporosis (I already have osteopenia). You won't know until you get your blood work done (FSH, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone). Good luck!
  • Skim milk has less calories than whole milk. Skim milk doesn't make you fat. Eating too many calories makes you fat. Agreed.
  • It could actually be a real problem - IT Band or something. You really better lay off of it and see if it gets better, if not I would see an orthopedist.
  • I 100% agree with you. That's something a lot of people don't understand - our bodies are just smaller and don't require as many calories, yet our appetites are often the same as taller people! I am 5'0" and was 115 forever. Then four years ago I made a change and now I hover between 101 and 104 lbs normally. It is true,…
  • Bodyrock.Tv. Her workouts are short and super intense. They are more like HIIT which evidence suggests is more effective than long, moderate effort work-outs. Check it out - so inspirational.
  • P.S. I have taken Ambien, Lunesta and Rozerem...none have worked well and the side effects were more trouble than they were worth.
  • I know this is not the question you asked, but I suffered from some severe insomnia for a couple years and I know how debilitating it can be, so I want to let you know what has worked for me. For me, when I told myself things like "who cares if I dont sleep","I've done this a million times, I can make it through tomorrow…
  • I disagree! What you have been doing has been working so far! Starvation mode is so overblown. I think you will slow weight loss, if not gain it, if you increase cals.
  • BLUE for sure! That dress is hot:)
  • These comments are very helpful. I think they reflect the complexity pretty well. I do generally eat healthy, and as someone else said, would like to take the next step in committing to "real foods." When people speak of doing this, they make it sound like a simple choice. But the reality is that, as pointed out, nearly…
  • I 100% agree with you!!!! Starvation mode is SOOOO overblown on here. I think people are wayyy too worried about it, to the point it most likely derails their progress. In my life, whenever I have restricted calories, I have lost weight and kept muscle tone by working out.
  • It's really not a big deal. You'll be fine. I'm not sure why people are so worried about being under calories, especially for a short period of time. Some people even swear by intermittent fasting. I seriously doubt this will cause you to gain weight (unless you are trying to and that's why you're concerned?)
  • I am this same way. It does not work at all for me to just have a little. Sugar is addictive and the taste of it will leave me wanting more. I think the best bet is to just say NO to any bite whatsoever. Don't even consider it. Put that policy in place at the beginning of your day so you are prepared when the treat is…
  • In the beginning I tried to follow the program with the 50% protein/30% carb/20% fat rule and it was not right for me. I gained weight and was not happy. I think listening to our own bodies and following a healthy plan that makes sense for us is the right way to go and we will see results! Like you, I just try to eat clean…
  • Yup, still here! I am on week 6 now. I am enjoying the work-outs still. I have to say that I have more definition everywhere (ab ripper has been great at that). Now I'm really trying to clean up my diet to get maximum results. Without proper diet we might have the muscle but will not see it as well! As far as strength…
  • Thanks for the great info. I'm not sure the P90X plyo has a ratio of 2:1, perhaps the high intensity periods would need to be longer or with less breaks to acheive that. I used to be a runner until I was injured, so I was hoping to gain the cardio-type HIIT from plyo, to gain benefits I am now missing from running. What…
  • I did it for three weeks and am throwing in the towel as of today. Even while staying with 1200 calories most days, I GAINED weight with this. Totally weird. I'm going back to my regular healthy and more balanced eating.
  • Hey everyone! Almost done with week 3 here! I am curious as to what diet all of you are following? I am doing the 50% protein/30% Carb/20% Fat. Haven't lost any weight. What about you guys?
  • I also did P90X legs and back/Ab ripper this morning. My muscles are more defined, but the really weird and discouraging thing is that three weeks in I have gained a couple pounds. Yesterday, I ate perfectly, counted every calorie, carb and protein gram and this morning I was up on the scale again! I am so confused. The…
  • Thanks for taking the time to look at my food diary and provide comment:) I appreciate it! It's so hard for me to understand that eating more will help me lose weight (I lost 10 lbs initially by eating less than I ever did, and eating less for me has always correlated with weight loss). I will look into a heart rate…
  • Yes I totally agree with those who said I couldn't have gained that much muscle in three weeks. I don't get it. I also don't try to eat back my exercise calories. I also agree that P90X and MFP greatly over-estimate calorie burn (especially for someone as little as me). It's just so mysterious to me. Perhaps it is the…
  • Hi everyone! I'm so excited to have found this thread. I was thinking of starting one for petites, but did a quick search and found one already exists! I am 5 feet and about three quarters of an inch. I like to say I am 5'1". I am 104lbs right now - I really like to be at 100lbs - it just looks the best on my small frame.…
  • I lost weight every week too at about 1200 calories. Well actually 1,000. Until I reached 102-104ish. Then I plateaued. So if you have weight to lose, then yes, you will lose weight with this calorie intake until you reach a place where you dont need to lose more.
  • Thank you! I am about that height and weight and I totally agree. People generalize with calories but it is totally dependent on body size, among other things. As small people, we have less total mass, smaller organs, bones, less blood etc...I definatley gain weight if I ate over 1200 calories a day, even with exercise! We…
  • True or False: Extra protein will not be stored as fat if total calories are at or under maintenance level. Reason I ask: I am in phase 1 of P90X and I am currently consuming 50% of my calories from protein. That's right - I am supposed to consume 150 grams of protein a day for a 1200 calorie diet. And I'm a five foot…
  • I never used to be able to do this either, and then I sucked it up and started doing it, and it is the BEST way to work-out. It is over and done with for the day and you won't be able to talk yourself out of it. I did four things that made it easier: 1. Don't lay there when the alarm goes off. The second you hear it, jump…
  • I agree it can be made harder by keeping your foot off the ground etc...I could try that. I dunno, I'm just having this nagging feeling about the lack of cardio. I only did cardio before - hours and hours on the ellyptical, running, intervals. I prided myself on having a ton of lung capacity. Then I got injured, had to…
  • Thanks for the comments. Its just that I see male body-builder types talking about taking in this much protein so it worries me!
  • We are so similar! I am also 5'1" (well ALMOST), and I was 100 until after my wedding recently. All hell broke lose and I gained six pounds in a month! Now I'm trying to work my way back also. I started P90X on monday for some structure.
