Hey great job on running 5k! I could never run in the past and then I taught myself to run last year. My best 5k time was 28 minutes, but my average 5k time is somewhere between 30 and 35 minutes. Don't worry about your time, worry about putting one foot in front of the other :)

Thank you for this. I definitely let the scale get to my head sometimes :)

Good Job Man, you look much better!

Thank you! I'm glad you're getting back into it. I find persisting is the most important part for me... there have been the odd weeks where it was harder, like over Christmas was tough because I'm so used to eating all of the tasty treats then. :) I hope your boss doesn't mind the kickboxing :D

Thank you! I so want to buy the cookie monster ones, I was changing sizes so quickly that it would have been a waste, but now I can get them :)

I taught myself to run this past summer. I was always afraid of it and just labelled myself as not being able to. Basically the best advice I can give is find the fine line between not over thinking the run and not under thinking it. What I mean is if you obsess over running throughout the day then you'll just not go. Try…

Thank you for all of the kind words! :) I am very happy, now I want to move on to building muscle and decreasing body fat.

Hey, so once I started losing weight, when I hit 280ish I never had any further problems. I read somewhere that for every lb of weight lost there is 7g less pressure on a person's spine. For me now I never really have any back problems anymore. Before when I would go to the chiropractor all they'd do is tell me how messed…

Right now I'm more in a phase where i want to get my body fat down to 10%. I want to focus on health rather then weight and try to eat as clean as possible and keep fit.
-
Actually I was shocked but for some reason I didn't have extra skin. I thought for sure I would.
-
LOL! Thanks, actually the thought didn't even really cross my mind.

Basically I got a herniated disk in my back last year. I was trying to figure out how to fix it without surgery and I found out that basically the best way is to lose weight. I did it in stages. I started by walking 5k each day. Then I started tracking my food, then I made improvements to my diet. When I hit 258 lbs I…

Hey, I tried to keep my diet clean and simple. Lots of fruits and veggies. I started by walking every day, now I run and do weight training. I also go for a 5k walk every day.
-
Hey, basically it mostly involves eating simple clean foods. I also did exercise, but it was mostly diet.

Sometimes I have the same problem. I think it boils down to two things; 1) Nutrition and 2) Understanding our compulsion to eat. 1) Nutrition - If we are fully nourished, then we shouldn't crave food from a physical standpoint, so what I did is I took a look at what I was eating and attempted to ensure I was getting as…

Thank you all so much for your encouragement! I am very proud of my success, and look forward to reaching my goal. I hope that all of you are able to reach your goals also!

I do a lot of cardio every day and I have a similar problem with my net calories... tonight I went for a 30 km bike ride and now my net calories is -300, so I have to eat something before I go to bed, which kind of sucks...

I love fruit! I eat tons of it and have no problem losing weight. Plus I have a sweet tooth, so if it keeps me from craving sugar then I'm happy...

In the past I got way too much into dieting, and invested so much of myself into it that I felt so frustrated when I failed. It took me a long time to pick myself back up. There are so many elements that contributed to my previous failures and I spent a lot of time thinking about what really motivates me to diet. If you…

I agree! I noticed the same thing.

For me dieting/watching what I eat is a very personal thing and I'm very sensitive about people talking about my weight or giving me unsolicited advice, so I know how you feel when you say your co-workers pick it apart. I found that I needed to get to a place mentally where I truly knew in my mind that this is my diet, and…

Hey; I just went through two plateaus. The first one was difficult, the second was less difficult. The one thing that I tried to keep in mind is that no matter what, whether I lost weight or not, what I was doing for my body was beneficial and increasing my health. So my advice is not to lost hope or motivation, keep on…
