That kind of goes alone with, "Older women shouldn't have long hair." Well, the rebel in me decided that in my 50's, I was letting my hair grow longer again. I cut my hair in my 30's and did the boy-cut, with hair angled over my ears and longer on top for "volume". In my 40's, I let it grow out some, but kept it layered…

Hi all! My March goal is to continue walking and to try to get to where I consistently hit 10000 steps a day. I have just started doing some strength exercises, so another goal is to keep those going and building on them.

Hey, I am trying to lose and am new to this group also. I sent you a friend request.

Yes! Sugar can contribute to higher levels of inflammation. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, and type 2 diabetes. I have read and researched so much over the years, and one thing that always stands out as a way to help fight inflammation is to watch and reduce your sugar intake. Hope this helps!

Joyfulandactive: Congrats on tracking again and on your weight-loss!

Liz, I am so excited that your daughter had an extra Fitbit! I so hope you enjoy using it as much as I do mine. ridiculous59, I am so glad I am not the only one who finds it hard to control nut portions. I swear, last year at this time, I rarely ever bought nuts! Then, I went online and read about how good they are for…

TaosLiz: I am so sorry for your loss. I admire your outlook and your positive approach to each day is inspiring!

Okay, so I completely misread what you were looking for. My inspiration would be MFP. So far I have logged 36 days straight. I enjoy reading the success stories and connecting with others. I find something new to inspire or motivate me everyday!

I wear a Fitbit. This week has been my highest step count yet. So far I have walked 34812 steps this week and I still have tomorrow. I'm on track to beat last week's steps by 10000. One of the things that has helped me to get more steps in this week has been joining a couple of challenges on Fitbit. They are fun and I find…

This is just what I have been looking for! Glad I found this post.

Hey, I'm new to this group. All of you are an inspiration and I really like reading about the different approaches. I somehow lost 4 pounds over the holidays. I think my emotional state during the holidays may have contributed. It was our first holiday season without my DH. I came back to MFP after a MFP reached out to me.…

Hey Liz! I'm so sorry you have been through so much! I'm also new to the group and just saw your post. In my post I talked about needing to lose 50+ pounds. My ultimate goal is to lose around 65-70 pounds. I worked as a dental hygienist for 29 years until my hands just basically gave out. Besides my hand issues, I have…

My inspiration is my mother. She is 78 and can still out work me. And all of this is after breaking a hip 4 years ago! She has always been active outdoors, whether walking, gardening, mowing...She just never quits! She is my biggest supporter and my best friend.

Hi! I just joined the group too!

Your dedication is inspiring! I have a long way to go and now after seeing the progress that you have made doing fitness at home, I have no excuses. I will be 55 in June and started back on MFP in January. I have been walking and doing low-impact aerobics mostly, but no strength training. I have the weights, I just need to…

My blood sugar is coming down! This morning's number was 136. It has been as high as 210.

bananas: As a former dental hygienist (29 years), I would definitely recommend you going to a dentist who will answer your questions, as this is an important part of patient-care. I wouldn't trust anyone with my teeth who isn't willing to explain what their treatment plan is.

Beth: prayers and hugs. So, sorry for what you are going through.

Hi everybody! I am soooo happy! It is currently a nice, sunny 63* here in the NW Foothills of NC! I have my granddaughter with me today and I'm planning on a trip to the park with her later. As far as seasons go, I really enjoy them all! I guess my favorite would be summer. As a Cancer, I love going to the beach. I enjoy…

HI everybody! It's a messy day here in the NW Foothills of NC; freezing rain and temps hovering around 32*. I'm just hoping the ice forming on the trees doesn't cause of lot of power outages...so far mine has stayed on. I have the gas logs, water, and "picnic"* food ready, just in case. *(Not the healthiest, but if the…

To everyone who has sent hugs, prayers, condolences, etc., I just want to say "Thank You"! I have been scrolling through, trying to catch up and get familiar with everyone. It's a lot of information to absorb and I'm not sure where to jump in sometimes. I think it's lovely how so many of you have become so close. The NC…

Oh yeah, I wanted to comment about the Premier protein shakes. I'm not using them as a meal replacement. Been there, tried that, didn't work. I'm adding the shakes into my eating plan to get more protein into my diet. I have a tendency to fall short on protein a lot of the time. I'm not sure if it's really a thing, or just…

Hi everyone, I hope all is going well. I'm finally below 200! I'm only a .5 lb below that awful, beastly number, but hey, I'll take it!! It has been a good while since I've seen the 190's on my scales. Woo-hoo! Challenge Starting Weight: 201 Challenge Level: Level 3-4 Challenge Goal weight: 180-185 01 Feb: 201 08 Feb: 201…
