Back at it-I've been a runner for years, did a half marathon a couple of years ago and was training for another when COVID hit (I'm a nurse, and it has been rough. Let my running game slip due to absolute exhaustion!). But I am back at it, 2-3 miles 2-3 times per week and building. If anyone is around the same place in…

OK, I will slow it down. Promise. Thank you all for the helpful feedback. I think I am just so impatient to have this all behind me/us. Anxious to feel like I have some control over something after fighting this monster for almost a year, and just so tired. But I will behave. ;) Anyhoo-any suggestions on a group I could…

I think I mis-mathed....how about 12ish pounds in 6 weeks? More better? :) Anyone want to do this with me?
-
I have dropped some weight, and so far haven't noticed any huge hit to my endurance. I have a 10K on Sunday-we'll see how that goes. I will finish the half no matter what-run/walk/crawl-I WILL cross this thing off my list!
-
No, but I am so going to now! I've been looking for suggestions to for good info. Thank you once again! :)
-
Woohoo! I have been paying attention to lytes/sodium replacement, as I am also training for a half marathon at the end of Sept. THank you so much for the info!! Much appreciated!!! <3 :)

:D No- I actually feel pretty good. I'm still waiting for the infamous keto flu. One of the reasons I wonder if I'm not really there yet...
-
So I did one of those formula calculation thingies and it said 20 gm of carbs, but between 20-30 would be ok? I find myself running around 25gm without feeling too deprived, but 20 is rough for me.
-
Very helpful! Thanks!
-
I do that as well, but as I am new to the whole keto thing I want to do it by the letter and see how it works. So far, so good, but if I can do it better, why not? :)
-
Yeah, that's the one that told me about the "signature" thing. looks like I'll live without it. :)
-
I did a search here and it says to paste "under my signature". No idea what that is. I've tried pasting it a few places, but so far no luck. You'd think they'd make it easier??!!

Awesome! How much are you running each week?
-
I'm coming in late, but I'm in. Really tired of working so hard on diet and fitness during the week, and then blowing it all to hell on the weekends. And all my friends and my husband are drinkers. Ugh! Plus, training for a half marathon in the fall. Got to get serious!

Thanks all! A little history- another runner ran into me a few months ago,and I had to have surgery in September. PT has not yet cleared me, but I am climbing the walls wanting to run! I am walking/biking as directed, but am hoping he let's me off the leash soon (prior to this I ran 5-6 days/week). The bummer of injury and…

Totally in! I was just thinking of doing this, as it wrecks my calorie intake. Glad to have some folks in it with me!
-
I'm kind of in the same boat-knee surgery last month has me out of my running addiction...um, I mean habit. ;) Trying to stick to the calorie deficit without the extra boost from running has me bummed, and hungry! Yes, I know there are other exercises, and I am doing as much as I can with this recovering knee. But it sucks!
-
Ah! Thank you! And I will check out the group-thanks again!

Ummm-MFP pall just changed my nickname for buttocks in the above post to "kitten"? Not sure what that is all about!! :hushed:
-
Back on MFP to drop some weight before my half marathon in the fall. Need some serious *kitten* kicking-add me if you are a daily poster and let's keep each other in line! In the sweetest way, of course...;)

Loving this thread.

Don't have one. I'm a rescue kind of girl-whichever one picks me, I love (probably the reason my two doggies are 4 lbs and 85 lbs!).

Question-I've never understood if the weight gain was simply a product of eating more due to better taste buds and needing to occupy your hands, or if there is a physiologic/metabolic change that takes place that makes you gain weight. Anyone know?

They are totally different, but each serves a purpose for me. I like the obvious when outside-the view, the changing scenery, being able to run with my pooch etc. But I like the safety and zen of a treadmill-I don't have to be aware of everyone and thing around me (traffic, road hazzards, serial killers), so much of the…

You are a machine! You look great, and more importantly you "sound" like you feel so good. Very inspirational! Way to go!!

I would agree to spend some time on Happy Herbivores. A lot of meat eaters have the usual knee jerk responses to this issue, and many of them are wrong. Those of us who have been vegan for any amount of time have usually done quite a bit of research about the relevant topics (animal treatment, health benefits/risks, cost…
