Actually, a secret to a happy marriage is if both spouses treated each other like the other is the most important person on the planet. I have a few sets of married friends that play the "who can be the bigger a-hole" game with each other and they are the ones getting divorced.

Nobody likes rejection. They felt hurt by getting deleted. MFP should have an option to disable the status updates of selected people from appearing in your news feed like Facebook. So they are just ignored.

The political system is broken but it's breakage starts in primary election process. For a candidate to get nominated by her political party, she needs to appeal to the outer edge of their party whose electors are the ones doing the nominating. Therefore the more extreme candidates tend to get nominated instead of a middle…

My experiences are mainly from camping/hiking but I've had lots of luck with wool socks and capilene long underwear. Wool is good for keeping you warm when wet. I would suggest wool athletic socks and quick-dry running tights. I just got some Layer 8 quick-dry running tights for biking. I rode in a rain on Sunday wearing…

Some people call it obsession. Others, like me, call it being motivated or focused. Your health should be your number one priority. Leading scientists have found that bad health is the leading cause of death in Americans. :P Don't let anyone make you doubt yourself. Just don't burn yourself out or get hurt which can be…

Took a rest day on 8/27 mainly due to lack of time but this is harder than I thought. 8/28: rode 47 minutes (12.9 miles, 17 mph). What happened to our moderator?

Friday, 8/26: 34 min bike ride (8.5 miles). Today would have been a rest day but it's La Vuelta!

Biked 42 minutes (10.3 miles, 14.6 mph) around the lake this monring ... twice. Just taking it easy and enjoyed a beautiful sunrise.

I just learned about this challenge from my buddy johnwhitent and want in. I'm very new to cycling but I'm getting addicted fast. I was camping last weekend so got in a lot of non-biking activity. I'm hoping to get credit. I'm commited to biking the remainder of the challenge. 8/20 - swimming, kayaking and…

If you plan to get an iPhone/Android phone or GPS device like a Garmin, pick a website which will allow you to import the data from you device. That way you won't have to move or lose your running history. I use runkeeper.com which allows me import data from my Garmin Forerunner 305. Runkeeper also has an app for iPhone…

Yoinks! I hope you have some snow shoes or cross country skies!

Yes, it is very self-defeating. When I first started changed my eating habit to healthier options, DDD gave me a lot of temptations. But now, six months later, I have the discipline to watch DDD as a passive observer, not an active participant, if you know what I mean. Triple-D is an anthology of what NOT to eat. Avoid DDD…

Kudos, brother. You look great. I've done the same adjusting my goals as I get closer. I call it the lie we tell ourselves when we are overweight. "I'm really not that big" or I don't have that much weight to lose." Yes, I am that big and yes, I need to lose a helluva lot of weight. Great job!

*picking myself off the floor* Wow. What an incredible change - you look amazing. You should be proud of your achievement. My hat is off to you.

Bump.

Hi Mike - You hit the nail on the head that the changes aren't just physical, but they are also emotional and psychological. It's not unlike the other life changes that we experience when we get married, have children, go through mid-life, and the kids move out. Adapting to these life changes can causes lots of stress. You…

That's funny. Thanks for the laugh, Mike.
