The Thai place near my appartment has a couple dishes that aren't smothered in sauce so I usually go for one of those. I have no proof they are lower cal, but it just seems intuitive.

I'm no big fan of the taste of coffee and discovered wake-ups (a brand of caffeine pills) almost 2 years ago and now I take one each morning while my roommate makes his coffee. I checked the caffeine content and one pill (I take one in the morning) has the same mg of caffeine as a large Tim Horton's coffee, so it's not…

Try V-Go. It's seasoned. I love it and usually cannot tolerate the taste of V8 original!

If you lose 10 lbs by then, perhaps you could make the case for only paying 150$!

Hey guys. I'm trying to find snacks, other than granola bars, that can easily be brought to class. My schedule is such that I often don't have time for a proper lunch and so I need something i can eat in class. Any ideas? Thanks!

So Bates' kcals per minute would end up being round 13.6 for an incline of 5.5 and a speed of 4. Assuming this is right give or take a bit, would it be a correct reading if the machine told me I was burning 5 kcals per minute on an incline of 10 (max is 15) and a speed of 3.5? I'm 5'6'' and 121lbs... And I'm not worth a…

Hi, I'm going into my second year. As of today I am 121 and my goal is 110.
-
Oops, my question was answered... didn't see the second page! :p

Whether or not this is indeed a reliable study, it is a fact that the brain uses glucose to function. PET scans, for example, provide a visual display of brain activity by detecting the consumption of a radioactive form of glucose in different areas of the brain. So I have no clue how much carbohydrates we should be…

Is high fructose corn syrup the same as modified corn starch (that's what's in my yogourt's ingredient list)?

Second Anglo-Quebecer here  Born in Quebec City but moved across the bridge from Ottawa, ON last year. I looooooooooove it here!

My trick doesn't really work on its own, but might be helpful in combination with what everyone has already said. Install a big or even full-length mirror between your favourite reading spot and the kitchen. Then, when you're settling in to read, don't do so in loose-fitting pyjamas or sweats. Rather, wear something…

I've been on Wellbutrin XL, 450mg, for about 3 years now and haven't noticed a single side-effect. I didn't lose weight or experience an increase in energy (damn), but I didn't gain any weight either. I've tried my fair share of AD's and this is the one I like the best by far. It just goes to show that each med affects…

I'm 21 (female) and am at 2500 also, so maybe it has more to do with height and weight or maybe it's a general thing?

Hi! My ratios are similar to yours (I adjusted them a bit as well). Calories 1200 Carbs 135 Protein 105 Fat 27 Sugar 24 Fiber 14 Unfortunately, I always seem to go a fair amount over on my carbs, but that's not what this thread is about... I actually have never gone over on fat, though. I get alot of my protein from milk…

How many grams of protein should you be consuming at a 1200 cal limit, if anyone knows? And how many grams is everyone eating? Just curious!:flowerforyou:

I heard that yogurt and cheese were easier to digest because the bacteria in them have sort of already done some of the "digesting", making less work for your own digestive system. I'm hearing a lot of negative opinions on dairy... but what about lactose-free milk? Is there really a significant difference in certain…

Are there differences between those types (whey, soya, egg white, etc.) other than the obvious? Do they affect your system differently, have distinct bnefits? I've only ever tried one type of protein powder (whey, in a shake) and it tasted so aweful I couldn't get it down, but I've been considering trying a different kind.…

I'm 5`6`` and my goal weight is 110. I have a very, very small build, though. I think bone structure is an important factor in determining goal weight!

I started it yesterday too. It's awesome!!

I'm going to try for an entire week without alcohol. I don't drink pop or juice or coffee ever, and very seldom do I have a cup of tea, but alcohol has to be my downfall. Let's see how this goes, shall we?

I have a gazelle as well and it tells me I burn about 9 cals per minute... Mind you, you can't enter your weight and age like on ftaburn.com (which I have come to trust more than my gazelle display). Somehow I think that, at 120 pounds, I more likely burn 300 cals in an hour than 600. :p But I see it as more of a toning…

I just bought the 30 day shred today and took a quick look at level one to see if they would mention how heavy the weights should be. They didn't and I know it depends on the person, so I thought I'd just ask what everyone else is using! How about it? Thanks!

A nice substitute for cheesecake when you really crave it is a little piece of angelfood cake (one the size of a small muffin (36g) holds 130 cals), 2 tbls low-fat cream cheese on top of it (30 cals per tbls), and half a cup or so of thawed strawberries, with no added sugar, on top of that (about 30 cals there). 1 serving:…

Snack 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup Silhouette 0+ vanilla yogourt 1 cup frozen strawberries Mixed in Magic Bullet. Adds up to about 145 cals and makes enough to fill one of the bigger Magic Bullet cup things. You can add some All-Bran flakes for fibre and it's still under 200 cals. And it tastes like absolute heaven!!

Hmmm... I don't track sodium in my food diary... How much is a healthy daily amount? Just wondering!
-
Hmmm... where on webmd is this calorie counter? I've only been able to find the exercise one (like on here) and it doesn't even have "elliptical" (then again, maybe I can't spell?)...
-
Oh! That makes sense. So if I had started at a higher calorie limit it would have gone down as I lost weight, right? Thanks for the clarification!

I have ben on 1200 cals since I started here and the initial transition was very hard. To give you an idea, the very first day on MFP I just ate as I usually did and logged everything in to see how much I had been eating before I'd even begun to think about calories, and I was at 2200!! No wonder I was having such trouble…
