is it good for you? I read somewhere that if you drink a glass before each meal it fills you up so you eat less. anyone else heard this? tried it? I'm thinking about picking some up at the grocery store tomorrow....any input is welcome

I don't know about it filing you up before a meal, but I personally love it! Not only is it great to drink (especially if you haven't had a lot of fruits and veggies) but I also cook with it! It add GREAT flavor to chili and pot roast! The V8 Smoothies are really good too!
  • The only thing I would say bad about V8... It has a lot! of salt. Unless you get the low sodium. Which does not taste as good. In my opinion. It will fill you up though, and has lots of veggies.

I agree - the original V8 has an awful lot of salt, so I buy the low-sodium, but it definitely lacks a little in taste. (I wish I could de-program my love of salt!!) But it's really not that bad and it does help fill me up and gives me another source of vegetables for the day.

Yes, it does help and it is also great for getting the veggies that you may be lacking. I drink the low sodium and love it and it does help. God Bless, Brenda

I too drink low sodium but add sea salt to it. Sea salt does not cause as much fluid retention as mined salt, so it works for me. I know people who add tabasco sauce to tomato juice (which also should help you burn more calories) if you like spicy.   :flowerforyou:
  • Try V-Go. It's seasoned. I love it and usually cannot tolerate the taste of V8 original!

I have been using the 5.5 oz size of low sodium V8 for precisely the purpose you describe. A can of the juice and a glass of water helps curb my appetite. I also keep a few cans in my desk at work to fight off the "hungries"

I have had no trouble drinking the low sodium version, but I am not a fan of salty tasting things, so maybe my taste buds are more easily adaptable.

If you shop at Costco, their current coupon book good thru 10/4 that will give you 48 - 5.5 oz cans for about 15.99. This is a better price than you can get anywhere on the little cans.
