  • I wouldn't. I would account for that as 'lightly active' lifestyle in your settings. I only count intentional exercise.
  • I have no problem eating that many calories, lol. I love to eat. I would stick to full-fat dairy products and just eat larger portions.
  • When I toured LA I was not impressed. The people who I dealt with looked like plastic people. It was very, very snooty and even though I consider myself pretty fit, I was totally uncomfortable there. The most comfortable place for me to work out was the Y. Eventually I got fed up with our local Y always cancelling group ex…
  • I like the ezekiel bread idea. I am going to pick up some sprouted bread today. I like oatmeal and yogurt on occasion, but tire of them very quickly. I am also trying to avoid packaged breakfast cereals. This morning I had steel cut oats with natural PB, but I can only do that 1-2 days a week before I'm sick of it. I also…
  • Bonny, I'm so glad you joined! This is one of the many things I did to learn how to properly feed myself and exercise. You're a great cook and food planner, so you have one of the hardest parts tackled already!
  • If you are diligent and trust this process, this will work!
  • I'm going to go against the grain and say eat the fruit. In fact, I would maybe not log the fruit and see if it's truly something else that's causing you to go over. The new Weight Watchers plan actually counts all fruits as 0 points. Yes, fruit has calories, but the calories are calculated before they go into your body.…
  • Hi! It looks like you're doing great with your calories. I would suggest adding in more fresh vegetables. Try to have a fruit/veg or both with every meal and snack. I've really found this to be one of the keys to keeping weight off long-term.
  • An exercise bike is often a recumbent bike, where you are somewhat reclining while you ride. A spin bike is supposed to simulate a road bike, so you are in the same position you would be in if you were riding on the road (theoretically). A spin bike is usually manual, so the only way to make the ride more difficult is to…
  • I've had the hardest time deciding on a goal weight! I'm 5'3.5", and my upper body is really small (fingers overlap around my wrist), but I've always had big, muscular legs. So I've never known what my frame really is. My first goal was to get into the healthy BMI range, which was 144. I maintained that weight for about…
  • Definitely good music. And before I even step on the treadmill I decide how much I'm going to do. I also write out my exercise goals in my planner. I HATE that disappointed feeling when I don't hit goals that I set for myself, so knowing that if I quit before my 30 minutes (or whatever that day's goal is), I will feel…
  • Well, then I guess it's a good thing you were working out then, huh?! Sheesh, what a *kitten*!
  • IMO, if you're going over because of "bad" carbs (processed) or "bad" fats (transfats), that's what I would be more concerned about. I tend to be under on my carbs and over on my protein and fats everyday.
  • Check your form. Are you tucking your tailbone under when you're seated? Try to imagine lengthening your tailbone over the seat.
  • My first grader is 50 lbs. so I always joke that I lost a first grader! I had a bittersweet moment one day a few months ago....we were at his piano lesson which is on a university campus. We always have a long walk back to the car, and he was running, tripped, and ate concrete pretty bad. His knees were all bloody and he…
  • Peanut butter....and sweets in general, especially in the afternoons.
  • Crunchy is in reference to the fact that I'm pretty "natural minded"--I cloth diapered, nursed my babies for a long time, and am just generally not much of a consumer. TX is where I live, and I'm a Mama :)
  • are you still logging everything you eat and staying under your calories everyday? I recently trained for a half and I did not gain unless I went over my cals.
  • coffee (this has become my dessert in the evenings as well as my one cup in the AM) stevia apples natural peanut butter double fiber english muffins butter (I have a little with my breakfast every morning...the carb/fat combo really helps me get through my morning workouts) zucchini or broccoli I eat/drink these in some…
  • It's actually my mother-in-law, and yes she does have a lot of excuses. My husband says she's always been this way. Regardless, she's asked me to help her find some exercises she can do, so that's what I'm trying to do.
  • Thanks. I suggested Walk Away the Pounds and she seemed interested. I requested two "Sit and Be Fit" DVD's from my library to take to her. She's only 3 miles from a YMCA that offers the Silver Sneakers program which would be perfect for her, but I don't think she would go.
  • Group exercise classes--turbokickboxing and indoor cycle are my current favorites and both will probably have you burning more than 400 calories. At my gym, classes are 45 minutes long, and I usually log close to 500 calories burned per class.
  • It's a product from Mexico, so it's easy to find in Texas, where I live. I'm not sure where you're from, but here I can get it in any Mexican grocery store.
  • Bananas and mangos never work for me. They are both gone way too fast, and I guess the sweetness just leaves me wanting sugar. Cereal also never works for me. If I have the munchies and start reaching for carbs, I probably won't stop. It has to be something natural with either protein or fiber.
  • I can totally relate! I'm having a girls night on Thursday and everyone brings high calorie snacks and drinks. I went out today and bought light cool whip. I'm going to bring strawberries, pineapple, grapes, and cool whip to dip. I'm also going to bring this drink I like called Topo Chico--it's a carbonated water drink…
  • apples--cut it up into slivers and pour a little lemon/lime juice on it and eat it slowly. A cup of coffee also usually helps.
  • Cheese, bread, and peanut butter. I know I can still have those things in moderation, but 9 times out of 10, I reach for the cheese and realize that it's 100 calories for a tiny sliver and I realize it isn't worth it. Also, I make breads for my family (cornbread and biscuits) with dinner and I usually don't eat it. It…
  • I've always been a small B cup and the weight loss didn't affect it until the last ten lbs. Seriously...I went down to an A cup going from 145-135 lbs. Sucks sooooo much!
  • I really wish there was a way to differentiate between processed and natural sugars because your body just doesn't process them the same way! I was tracking sugar, but I finally just took it off my tracking page because I went over everyday from natural sugars.
  • Welcome! It sounds like it's really your time to make big changes! Hope to see you around here a lot!
