  • http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced That's what I used. I took my TDEE of what I want to weigh. Which gives me 2000 calories.
  • Ok I've wanted to ask this for a while. Anyone else low carb (There set at 40) I usually average 100 a day or less. And my pee smells strong. Is it that? And no I don't eat a lot of asparagus as my dr suggested. She tested it but it's fine.
  • Try increasing your intake of healthy fats. I did and noticed an improvement in my skin and hair. I also take fish oil.
  • My sodiums are often low. I eat a lot of fresh produce, egg whites, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, lean meats. Rarely do I use packaged stuff. I eat nuts and healthy fats and I'm aiming for 1800 calories.
  • 1200 is probably not enough. Go to http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced and pick a number above your BMR and TDEE. I did 500 less than my TDEE but don't eat back exercise calories because they are already accounted for. That gives you a healthy weight loss of 1000 calories a week. Try and eat more…
  • I use to get awful pains in my back with mine. I herniated my discs twice on the job. My doctor said it was full of scar tissue which would get more inflammation then. I had a hysterectomy and it hasn't bothered me since. Well once...when I was squatting wrong and threw my back out for 3 days. :)
  • They are high in those omega fats and fibre. I add them to my smoothies and steel cut oatmeal.
  • I cook. They eat what I make. They beg for junk because their friends get it but I just don't cave. My youngest is picky. She hates fish and rice. I don't make it alot but when I do she has to try it. That's the rule. She's not going to starve. She'll eat it when she's hungry enough.
  • Try to eat as close to nature as possible. Avoid processed foods to begin with. Cut out added salt (except in baking you need it to rise). Make your own spice mixes with real spices. My sodium intake is always really low.
  • There is a diabetic, prediabetic, insulin resistive group on here. They will have advice. IMO as a nurse you need a balance of exercise, food and medication so you should consult a dr and a dietician.
  • I gained 40 lbs in a couple of months. I then found out I had metabolic syndrome. It's heart breaking to see all your hard work not pay off. Try changing things until you find what works for you. Keep at it. You can do this.
  • I find protein and healthy fats fill me up. Nuts, hard boiled egg whites, cheese, veggies and hummus or a protein shake with coconut oil.
  • I make potato and leek soup a couple times a month. But I've learned to let it cool before putting it in the blender. I don't have an immersion blender. At first I did it hot in the blender and the steam blew the lid off burning me.
  • The pills were a waste of my money.
  • Right now my favourite is strawberry, banana, chia seeds, coconut oil, protein powder and milk. I use to use just berries and a handful of spinach.
  • As for egg yolks causing a spike in cholesterol. It depends on who you talk to. Some people say yes, some people say no.
  • Do you know how many calories you need a deficit of to lose that much weight. I'm betting it's water weight. And when you stop the diet you'll just gain all the weight back. The three days of dieting are too restrictive. There is no magic diet for long lasting weight loss. It's a lifestyle change.
  • I buy a store brand at a local store. It's a dollar fifty cheaper than anywhere else. The taste is the same to me. I usually just make smoothies with it but the odd time I'll add chia seeds, ground flax seed and berries. It's zero fat so when I make a smoothie I add coconut oil.
  • I use to. We have one health food store that sells organic. A supermarket in town has limited selection of organic produce. This health food store treated me like crap once. I was so angry I refuse to shop there anymore. I still buy a lot of things in the organic section of my local grocery store but not produce as it's so…
  • I feel your pain. I went from October to about a month and a half ago of not losing. I found out I have metabolic syndrome. I changed my macros to cut down on carbs, ate more protein and healthy fats. And I cut back on my exercise. I finally started to lose weight. It's frustrating. You have to find what works for you.
  • Check out sport check. That's where I got mine. I'd suggest you get one with a chest strap. They're more accurate. MFP gives me too high of a burn for my exercise compared to my HRM.
  • I eat protein at every meal and a healthy fat at every meal. Keeps me full. Try different veggies. You might be surprised.
  • I usually have it in my smoothie...with fruits, coconut oil, and spinach. If I didn't eat chia seeds for breakfast I add it in. If I actually eat it from a bowl I add chia seeds and berries.
  • My carbs are set at 40. But I try to keep them under 100 g a day. I'm allotted more. I'd tell you to look at my diary but lately with this heat I haven't been eating like I normally do.
  • I would say you overdid it. Me personally if the pain is unbearable I don't exercise. If it's still I push through it. Pain is your body's signal something is wrong. But then I've never had unbearable pain from working out. Except when I did squats wrong and threw my back out for a week. And no I didn't exercise then.
  • I get plain. I don't like flavoured. I use it mainly for my smoothies. Once they only had honey. I hated it.
  • Breakfast Lunch Dinner Snack 1 Snack 2 Snack 3 Calories Carbs Fat Protein Sugar Fiber
  • I have digital kitchen scales. I weigh everything on it. Even when it says half a cup. I measure it out on the scales to get a more accurate reading. Although its metric so sometimes I have to convert it to imperial on the laptop.
  • I put greens in my smoothies. Real stuff too. You can't taste them but it changes the colour.
  • I gave up salt because I have high blood pressure. I cook from scratch. Rarely do I eat packaged food. Rarely do I eat out. My downfall is frozen stuff. The frozen chicken breasts I have in my freezer have salt in them. But it still doesn't put put me over on my amounts. Once you give up salt you definitely notice salty…
