Its a private health club and the pool is tested every 2hrs. There is no issue there as I have no sinus or eye issues (which I used to have) and def not related to chemicals. Same issue when doing the gym class. Im 52 and havent done anything for a number of years plus Im about 2 stone over weight. Lets hope its a couple…

My mini goal would be to get back in the swing of Park run and more exercise by Christmas (dreaded sodding C word). My mini goal will be to get below 30 minutes. By then I should be able to shift some very stubborn fat. I need to boost my levels before Im 50.

Ive been on and off for years. Went back in new year but a prev foot injury put a stop to that. 2nd one today since then. Rubbish times 36 mins compared to my husband and kids around 22mins. I find it really hard though. Luckily ours is around a nice lake and National Heritage house.

I think it helps having strong people behind you (I have a bossy motivated fit husband) and thats getting me in shape. My self motivation is poor and I am not a leader but a follower so being told what to do helps. Staying focused when life throws curved balls is hard and its not easy for anyone. Things go wrong, other…

I assume you havent done exercise for years and you are using all the groups that dont get any attention. I think this is normal and I get it. Like when you are in an awkward position for 20mins and you get up and bits of body aching. I would def go on youtube and start a stretching routine try Bodyfit by Amy. I am have…

I also have Mastic gum tablets and DGL before bed. Also with IBS I believe you need to cut your fibre if you have tried fibre increasing makes it worse. ie…

Michael Mosley BBC Fitness/diet Dr said they are at least 25 - 50% inaccurate reason why people eat more and don't lose weight.

We've got one too and hubby is amazing on it while I'm just a beginner. Best advise is to start slow and easy, dont follow C2 plan I found it too hard and then dreaded going on it. I'm on it again and have built up I row 10mins at 24m/s on no.5 so that I can still talk but not out of breath. Now I do 10mins gentle warmup…

AGREE 130lbs being 9 stone is about right.

After reading Instinctive Fitness by Oliver Selway (UK) we follow primal but eat dairy. Yes there is the odd amount of sugar and tiny alcohol but our diet is based on not consuming grain of any sort. My husband is very fit and has increased his strength and is controlling his weight. Its a life change for us, too much…

I have a minera coil best thing I've done in ages - no changes in weight and its a perfect solution. I was told that if you can tolerate the pill then the coil would be fine.

Def brown wholemeal pasta and rice. We all tend to eat wholemeal now as a family. Its slower carbs release. Low sugar breakfast - try granola and all bran mixed. I tend not to eat a lot of fruit - just bananas and berries.

Agree with above - but would estimate its around 140 - 180. Its only 20mins of workout the rest is warmup, abs and cool down.

It helped me with motivation and stamina and even though I managed it I lost very little weight. For some it may shift loads of weight but for me I hadn't worked out for so many years and it took me a while to get through level 1. It is 20 mins and depends on the intensity and with using too light weights you aren't…

Thanks you all for your practical positive advice - glad there were no trolls!!! There are some days I dont input data as I'm too busy to worry about it but doesnt mean I'm not careful. MFP tells me I should be eating 1200 so I do base my goals around this. I prob dont input all data but I try to keep below the figure so…

Weigh only first thing in morning and buy accurate scales.

You shouldnt log warm up and cool down as burn. You will get a greater number and unless you dont stop to catch your breath or take a drink then you def cant log 25mins. I store it as 20mins aerobics 7 calories per min so 140 calories not sure what everyone else works on but rather under estimate than come up with extreme…

The heaviest weight I have is only 1.5kg but for some exercises that enough. You are better concentrating on form and until you have greater fitness and strength.

I always work out on the principal of max 10 calories per min, this to me gives a ball park. Because of my level of fitness and lack of strength to keep up I usually work between 5 - 10 cals per min so round up to average 7. I would rather under estimate. Therefore the first figure looks accurate.

Get a handful of DVDs - The Shred, Davina, The Firm and use these. With my business, household chores and young children I also find it hard plus I'm rural so it is a trek. Could you go before work? Straight after work? Personally I find it better to go alone I find replying on others a pain and they always drop out or let…

I'm UK based so the farming rules are a lot stricter here and believe me when it comes to UK farming its one of the best in the world for strictness, traceability, welfare and rules. When it comes to eggs - yes absolutely as the practice is fantastic against barn fed. Lamb and beef is pretty much the same, pork again not…

Personally, I found it too tough to move on after 5 days. I struggled with the whole energy and recovery and with general life I couldnt do it everyday and had to have recovery days. Depends on your fitness and stamina. Just watch your food intake over the 2 day rest and perhaps go for a walk or go for a swim. You havent…

Agree, ref to a recent post of over estimation of calorie burnt. Too many work out 100% for 60mins which is pretty impossible if you are overweight and unfit. Warm up, cool down, breaks, slowing could mean that actual workout would be more 20 - 30 mins. Hence calorie burnt could be more 180 not 800!!!

This is such a naive and wildly inaccurate statement - its like comparing yourself to people like Victoria Beckham or any other celeb - no wonder mums have such an unrealistic exceptions after birth like life just falls back into place!! For one the OP could have endless 'free time', partner willing to babysit, no job, a…

Brilliant thread and think the OP is spot on - I have leant lots. For people like more me who are a few stone over-weight this is very important. When doing a DVD I only calculate the main workout (exclude warmup and cool down) then take out say 10 mins for slow downs/water breaks - say 10 mins - so 25 mins not 50 mins!!!!…

Well according to the recent study that was shown on BBC about exercise myths - if anyone remembers it involved the HIT training and was excellent. Whether you spend £10 or £100 doesnt make an once of difference as running onto the heels not on the balls is bad no matter what you buy. The study proved that all the hype by…

bought my DVD on ebay used so it was half the price. I have a love hate with this DVD. Yes, it does take 20 mins but 5 mins prep and after 3/4hr with shower, hair and dress - so it does take some time in total 1hr 10 mins. Sadly I am too much of a sweaty betty. I find it impossible to do every day. If I can I drop the…

There has been recent studies (radio 4 did a programme) including Zoe Halcombe (her reports are on FB) stating that there is no evidence that you lose any more weight than a calorie controlled diet over 7 days. One of the reasons for weight lose may be to the limiting of calories over the 5 days. I did have a go but I felt…

I would say low or general aerobics for 20 mins. I would say max 200 calories when I was doing it.
