I'd have to agree that 5x5 on top of that much biking would be a bit much on the legs. 5/3/1 is a simple program to follow with a 4x/week routine which will allow for accessories that can translate over to biking.

There's plenty of calories there. If you're hungry, then eat. If you're not, no big deal. Doesn't sound like this is an everyday thing. So, enjoy the extra calories.

How is your response not an "eating too much" response? Anyway, it's a good response, though. If you are not weighing and measuring, there is a chance you are eating more than you are estimating. Other possibilities could be change in exercise routine. If it's become more intense, there could be some water retention. Also,…

I wish they would've given the parameters of the study. There's much more to it than age and weight to determine protein intake. Activity level and goals play another part.

100% of the people who breathe air die!

Funny that you state the sponsors but not the 102 studies cited. I'm not saying that bias might not exist. Just saying not to cherry pick that one statement from the entire thing.

I'll just leave this here for you. Enjoy your continued success! http://advances.nutrition.org/content/4/2/236.long

I've read your whole OP. Two lines down, which you are referring, you consider eating sugary items "cheating". If you ate them in moderation, stayed at a calorie deficit, took in proper protein and fat for the day, then how is it cheating?
-
First sentence you wrote bolded! Not my words. The point I'm trying to make is that elimination of cake, ice cream, white bread, rice, etc. is not necessary if you are managing macronutrients properly while remaining in a moderate calorie deficit.

Oh, where do we start!!!??? There are various definitions of healthy eating. Just because one person eliminates sugar and one chooses not to doesn't mean that one is healthier than the other. Also, one doesn't have to eliminate sugar to take in less calorie/carbs. That can be achieved in many different ways. The major flaw…

Rest your case? You have to provide one first!

Your soda example is an example of extremes that most people who oppose sugar like to talk in. Also, you should have already been reducing your calorie intake in order to lose weight. Again, you most likely just lowered your carb intake by reducing sugar. Which, in turn, would allow for water weight reduction. If you…

I think it's great that you've found something that works for you and that you worked through a plateau. However, I write this for those who are desperate and trying to search for answers. I really don't think it was the sugar that was stalling your weight loss efforts. More than likely, by cutting out sugar, you made room…

There's no doubt she's chiseled!

I completely disagree with that. Most people achieve sustainable weight loss by taking a .5-1lb/wk approach. Also, they have the ability to understand that this isn't going to be linear. The only reason it's hard is because, even thought they know it's the right approach, they still want the instant results.

Please explain how a slow and steady weight loss plan is not the most effective for people.

Sounds like the bigger issue is getting him to quit smoking so he can have a much needed surgery. Focus on that, first, then worry about eating more.

Ask some questions first to understand where her question is coming from. This should help you with your answer and not give more information than is needed.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day when it's eaten at dinner time and includes bacon and pancakes and eggs and syrup and butter.

No one was actually putting you down. It's a common response to the question you posted. Common Post: OP: What exercises can I do to tone my abs? Response: Fork put downs and table push backs Same answer given to the same question day in and day out. Intent is not to be anything more than funny while being accurate at the…

^This! Yes, it's not what you wanted to hear, but it's accurate. And, the ones giving you websites for ab exercises aren't really being as "supportive" as you might think. Understanding how the body works and having people who know what they are talking about give you real advice is the best support you can find.

Your body will try to create an environment of homeostasis. So, what she said isn't that far off. The reasons you gave, though, are accurate in that creating too big a deficit will make overcoming plateaus extremely difficult.

Just so there isn't confusion when you look up StrongLifts, it's 3 different exercises each day, but only 5 total that you'll need to learn.
