  • So, it is one of those things. His whole family lives one place and mine another. We don't have space to have them all here. I live in queens, ny. We are in a small apartment.
  • Thanks. I do stay home a lot, but need to go to in laws and my family. I think they are starting to get I need to be on a diet plan. It is difficult, because they don't really know anyone who also needs to diet... Which, I don't really get, but is what they say.
  • Hi, I have had similar issues. Exercise really helps me, and also keeping busy.
  • 81. Finally back to normal after a long holiday with my in laws.
  • So, looking at what you are eating, i don't think you are getting enough nutrition. I do reduced carb. Try some lean protein and cut raw vegetables that are low carb: greens, peppers, tomatoes, celery, etc. the low carb group might help. However, you may want to consult a nutritionist. Also, exercise will bring your sugar…
  • Hi, I am sorry to hear about your condition. It isn't fun. I also am diabetic. But, the important thing is that you now are aware you have something to manage. If you can manage diabetes well, you can stay pretty healthy. It takes diet, exercise, and usually medication. I would suggest talking to the doctor who put you on…
  • Thanks. I have gone back to eating simpler foods, and have been doing better. About ultra low carb, I was told that was not medically my best option. I do need to have balanced food intake. I just started on levemir as my long acting and have been increasing the dose under my doctor's care. I am hyper-sensitive to insulin,…
  • So, trouble is either. I am running highs now. I am just very frustrated. Due to my health and planning to become pregnant, my only option is just insulin injections that are approved for that use.
  • Thanks. I just won't drink.
  • Hi, I usually do Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with fruit and flax seed and a small bowl of granola in milk. I calculate using mfp to come out to 45-50g of carbohydrate. So, like half cup yogurt or cottage cheese, half cup berries, third cup granola, and a splash of milk. This has been good for me. I feel full, and it is…
  • I've tried a couple. Currently, I'm using Rice Protein Powder. I like it. Blends smooth and doesn't color what it blends with. I bought it on Amazon.
  • Your doctor should have the handouts for dietary guidelines for diabetics. If he doesn't, I'd see a doctor that is more experienced with problems that you have. Diabetes education is pretty expensive, and you may not need that yet. If you can eat a well balanced diet and lose weight, that may fix the issue. With that said,…
  • Hi, I looked at your diary. I am a little concerned you are eating a lot of artificial stuff. Supplements, shakes, powders. I know you mentioned you are concerned trying to meet your macros. It is less important to hit a number, than having a well balanced diet. Try more fruit and veggies, lean proteins. Try to plan to…
  • Could you share your food diary? That way I can look and give advice.
  • I just snack throughout the day on Friday. It is tough, because Friday night is such a heavy meal. I still make kugels, and eat two slices of challah at each meal. I watch portion sizes of what I eat, and make everything from scratch. I found a challah recipe where two slices are 130 calories. I estimate caloies and just…
  • Often, I skip dessert at lunch, and eat it as a snack in the afternoon.
  • I upped my calories all at once, once I hit my goal weight. I fluctuate a couple of pounds from my goal weight in a month due to water weight. I use mfp to estimate calories for the day, and use the recipe builder a lot. I eat a little more some days, and a little less others. Always more than the 1200 I ate to lose.
  • I have one that I use: chopped carrots dried cranberries dried or fresh mint a little OJ leave overnight in the fridge for the flavors to mix. I'm editing to add another: chopped tomatoes dried or fresh mint a drizzle of oil if using dried mint
  • The different calorie amounts suggested, I assume, are depending on exercise. I went with mfp's suggestions and lost 27-28 lbs over six months. For me, it was really slow at first. It is really key to measure and weigh your food while trying to diet. That, and accurately enter in your exercise. I hope this helps. Hang in…
  • I set my mind to it and just did it. It was tough. I was only eating 1200 calories for 6 months before I got to my goal weight. For me, I thought of my photo from my brother's wedding and a party I went to for alums from college. I was so heavy, and wanted to change. It was really a slow process to take it off, and I…
  • I think going to the other supervisor was maybe more than you needed to do about that. Maybe, you could try to just say you are enjoying your food the way it is and that you understand he prefers his rice differently. He might just be trying to start a conversation.
  • One or two days isn't a big problem. Long term, though, you should eat.
  • Have you thought of trying to make your life lower stress? It sounds like you are packing a lot in a day. I think if you can manage to get 8-9 hrs of sleep & eat a well balanced diet, you'll feel ok.
  • 5'2.5" 136 lbs size 10 (US)
  • How about trying different clean foods and seeing what they like to make the lifestyle change fun to them. Give them new foods, and see what they like. I have a nephew that loves a lot of different foods. Sometimes he refuses something, but not often. He eats organic whole foods. I've fed my nephew tomatoes & corn before.…
  • Caffiene, like a cup of coffee, and motrin or naproxen sodium for short term relief. You may want to find out why your child is getting these kinds of headaches... For me, I got a bunch of them when I injured my upper back/neck. I see a chiropractor every so often, since then. Helps a lot.
  • Oats, unsweetened soy milk, honey, chopped pecans & peanuts, and a little salt.
  • I wouldn't worry about not losing in a month. Try to work on being healthier. Maybe, try to have more well-balanced meals: protein, produce, and whole grains. Losing weight isn't an easy process. Don't try to rush it.
  • I am maintaining at about 1600 calories a day. Sometimes I eat less, but I just make sure I don't go over.
  • A serving size of beans is generally half a cup-- that is a main dish. A side dish would be about half of that. Hope this helps.
