Eating tips
Hi, so I am on a special diet in addition to keeping kosher. I was at my in laws over Pesach and had multiple emergencies first day Pesach due to different food than I would cook. Does anyone have tips for telling family and friends (and I haven't eaten at friends for meals in a long time) about what I can and can't eat?…

Really frustrated...
I am really frustrated. I am on a 1500 calorie a day 45 g per meal diet. My weight is steady and I have a healthy BMI. I am diabetic, and recently was put on pure insulin for controlling my blood sugar. I am having trouble with my sugars post meal lately. I am upset I seem to be needing more insulin as weeks go by, too. I…

New to group and looking to connect with other Type 2 Diabetics
Hi, my name is Sarah. I was diagnosed in 2002 with type 2 diabetes. I, unfortunately, was placed on Novolin and Novolog this week. My main fear is weight gain, second is good control. I weigh about 130 lbs and am 5'2" (size 8) and a young 33 years old. Recently, married. I am having problems with being on the low end. I am…

Liquor/wine and long acting insulin?
Does anyone have experience trying small quantities of wine or liquor with long acting insulin? My patient guide says to not mix the two, which I haven't yet. Is this just a really bad idea, or is it possible?

New and looking to make friends with type 2 diabetes
Hi, my name is Sarah. I have had type 2 diabetes since 2002. I just started novolog and humilin to control my diabetes this week. I had been on orals previously. I am looking to connect with others on injections. I am 33, 5'2", and 130 lbs. I fear weight gain. I am also trying to learn to control my sugar on the…

Moved and Gained
Hi, I need a little support. I've been an mfp'er for over a year and lost 28 lbs in six months last year. I kept it off for a while. Since I've moved to a new state, I've gained. It has been five pounds since I got to my new home. Only three months. I'm diabetic and have a closet full of size 10 clothes. So, I need to stay…

Maintained for about six months after losing 27 lbs
Just want to share: I have managed to maintain a healthy BMI for six months, down 27 lbs from my starting weight. I'm so happy I started using mfp!

Just sharing
So, I decided to post for support in an anonymous setting. I'm dealing with some "heartbreak". My diet has been a mess. I have a close relative and some friends, but I'm just not feeling happy. I have to say, that I'm in my 30s and this is the first time. I don't know if I should be happy about that or sad...

27 lbs lost
I finally have lost enough weight to be a healthy BMI! I don't know if that means that much, but it does to me. I'm not sure if I can eat all the calories on my maintenance plan. I'll see how it goes... I may indulge in a big bowl of oats with sugar free maple syrup and bananas with soy milk for breakfast.

Healthy BMI!
I finally have a healthy BMI! I am trying to lose just three more pounds before I switch to maintenance. I started in June 2012, and now it is about 5 months later... It has really flown by!

High Protein = Weight Gain?
I have started a high protein diet from my doctor that is supposed to reduce inflamation. I have gained two pounds since I started it, which is alarming. I restrict dairy and grains to once a day, and am eating plenty of protein from beans, eggs, fish, and lean meat. Is this stort term, or should I go back to eating a lot…

Calcium
I recently saw a doctor and was given a brochure about diet tips for folks with pain issues. One tip was to minimize how much dairy one eats. What are good non-dairy sources of calcium besides dairy replacements? I would like the alternative to be as natural as possible.

Need motivation
Hi, I'm feeling a little disheartened. I had a doctor appointment about 2 weeks ago, where I was told that I will always (and I mean always) be diabetic. I have lost a lot of weight. Still, will always need to take medication & stay on a diet. I'll always be prone to migraines from the diabetes & will have to pay a lot of…

Not sure...
Hi, I've been on mfp since June 2012 and have lost a lot of weight. However, this past week, even though I'm following the diet plan, my weight is floating up. At this point it is just a pound, but I am concerned. I started my TOM Monday-- Is that the reason why, or should I adjust my diet and exercise? Thanks.

Ugh.
So, I'm posting looking for a little support. My work schedule has changed. I'm happy about that, but I have resorted to eating dinner out instead of cooking. It hasn't been good. I haven't lost weight in the past week. I'm glad I caught that now, instead of gaining weight. I'm just a bit frustrated. It seems that if I…

Am I doing something wrong?
So, I usually work out in the pool twice a week, do heavy cardio a third time a week, and on off days walk and do yoga. Last night, I swam really hard in the pool. I got home and about 2 hours after I was done, was doubled over in pain and felt weak and shaky. I only felt better after having a snack-- mfp said I still…

A Little Encouragement Needed
Hi, so I need a little encouragement. I have been back a week since going on a five week holiday. During the holiday, I was active and lost two inches & about 7 lbs. I'm back home. I have kept it off the last week, but haven't lost any additional weight. I know it is just a week, but I'm feeling disappointed. Sadly, I'm…

Confused
Hi, I am petite with a BMI of 29. I'm trying to lower my BMI into the acceptable range. In my goals, it says I'm eating 1700 calories a day to maintain my weight, but my BMR says only 1450. I recently gained back one pound of what I had lost. Granted, I've only been dieting for about 11 days... For my health, I really want…

Hello.
Hi, I found out about this site via a cooking website post. I have struggled with weight issues most of my life, and have had diabetes for about 10 years. I'm only in my early 30s. I had a doctor appointment recently, and we decided that I really need to take a shot at getting down to an appropriate BMI. I'm overweight by…
