I'm in Hereford. Fifty and needing to shift 2 stone. Friends welcomed. Good luck all!

Hi all, Haven't posted for a while. Have not weighed for 10 days. Will brave the scales and accept my new starting point on Friday. Yesterday was my 50th birthday so did the eat drink and be merry thing all over again. Tomorrow we are going to my Mum's for a late birthday/ new year festivity. Fri 2nd Jan will be the end of…

Looks lovely! Have to admit that my first thought was "snow shoes...how cool is that?" We don't get enough snow for me to need them but.....

Hi all. Fasting today...may be the last one this year. Plans for the next fortnight are a bit fluid, all our family are scattered so lots of visits and munchies but since it also includes Chrimbo, my 50th birthday and New Year, I suspect Jan 2nd will be a much needed end to indulgences for a while. Like Snaps, I'm being…

Hi Orlcam, absolutely support suggested admin additions! Thanks in advance to those people. It's all gone a bit Pete Tong in this corner so am going to just get in 3 fasts before Christmas and be happy that I am in control enough to succeed with that. Gonna be nailing 2015 so watch for the smoke from the after burners!…

@calahonda. Since starting 5:2 I've become a bit of a lightweight boozewise. Used to be able to drink most of the evening, now had enough after two. (Cheap date) Out with friends I tend to drink spritzers (white wine and soda water). I find a long drink helps fill me up a bit too so I don't overeat..too much.

I'm a Friday faster. Happy unbirthday!

@carb. You have put so many positve things this week but I have been totally distracted by the Pajama Elf. I will need to see whether he does UK house calls! I did 2 fasts last week and aim for 3 this week. Scales are not moving very quickly so I can see that another 5 by NYE isn't likely. Still got my eyes on the prize…

Hi BB And JM. Welcome to the group. You'll find lots of good advice and support. Enjoy your fasting!

Delighted for you! Party on!!

Sorry.. Missed jknight off my list. Well done, every step important! 10lbs is great

Got out for my third run of the week and managed 5 miles. Slow but steady. Weigh in tomorrow after my first 4:3 week. Although I've got fingers crossed for a magical loss, the thing about this eating pattern is that you just know it'll happen eventually. So it's easier to cope with the "no change" weigh-ins. Feel free to…

Oh,oh, done 4:3 this week and saw a new number this morning. Now need to be steady over the weekend to consolidate it. Next week looking more complicated ...may need to try a b2b if I'm going to get 3 fasts in. Wishing you all a fun-filled weekend. Rachelx

@flumi. Wow, rocking new look!

Yes.
-
@snaps. Certainly lots of change here! Look forward to seeing your final pic when you are grinning confidently like in the studenty pic!

Fasted yesterday, got up this morning and went for a run. Actually more a shuffle than a run but it broke through the "I don't wanna" that has been going on in my head for about 3 weeks. 10:35 now and I'm starting to wonder what to have for breakfast...brunch..whatever. I had a target of being under 12 stone for my 50th at…

@emmaontrack. You've done brilliantly so far and will be able to pick it up again when your brain is not busy playing the "what if" game. Having been there with drs and lumps, the good news is that things are dealt with quickly so there won't be a prolonged period of uncertainty. From a slightly different angle, if the…

@orlcam. Weight is just a number, it doesn't define you.(Although I suspect we are all here because we let it do just that!) So you're a big lad... You are taking positive steps to improve your health, who the heck has a right to judge?! Your generousity in setting up this group and modelling the positivity and support for…

@foamroller. Thanks for mentioning using a ball on shoulders. I use the roller happily on legs and hips but hadn't found a way to get into my shoulder/upper arm. I sometimes struggle to sleep on fast day but always save 100cals for a late evening banana so I don't need to go to bed hungry. Hadn't thought of the hypnosis…

@carbmonster. You have made great progress. It's obvious inboth sets of pics. Be proud!

Hi, welcome! If you need advice after you've done your homework ;). Just ask, it's a friendly group with some inspirational posters.

I agree that the terms are not defined well enough. I fast for 24 hours i.e. Calorie free liquid from 7pm to 7pm. Eat my 500 and then don't eat again until sometime the next day. So I do a period of about 39 hours with 500cals intake. Probably best not to get hung up on it. The health benefits come from the time spent not…

Oh I definitely do this, third time I see the number, it's mine! I don't weigh absolutely every day. I know it fluctuates so if I'm feeling fat ( or more than usual lol) I don't bother. No need to add a grumpy to my day. Having said that I weighed in this morning to see what damage my dodgy week had caused and the scales…

@foamroller: thanks for such interesting posts. I'm going to have a look at the low carb ideas. I already know that when I cut out bread, I lose better. I've had a flu bug for about a week and think I have just about coughed out my lung linings! Today I'm fasting. Haven't got on scales but know I haven't been particularly…

Hi, We have a 5:2 group on the boards if you want to join a likeminded group. For those who don't know, it's a form of intermittent fasting where intake is restricted to 500 cals (600 for men) on 2 days per week and you eat at a maintenance level for the other 5 days. Some people restrict cals on the 5 foody days but it…
