1. Fix my sleep schedule (averaging 5.5 hrs, have been at 6.5 my whole life and would like to hit 7...) 2. Lose between 2 and 4 pounds for the month. (Started already and have lost the requisite 7 pounds of water :) Would like to lose 50 lbs overall.) 3. Log every day. 4. Get in some physical activity 3 times a week, of…

Shrimp, celery w/cream cheese 'stuffing', salad. Soda water in a champagne glass. Yum! Happy New Year all!

Started Dec 26. Down 5 lbs (water) in 3 days and into ketosis (following the latest version of Atkins). Slight headaches so watching electrolytes and jacking up sodium (getting potassium & magnesium supplements tomorrow). Did measurements didn't think of pictures; will do tomorrow. So far so good! Will be on the January…

Welcome! This isn't a very active thread I'm afraid, but welcome to MFP and to JUDDD - best wishes to you!

Hi, I've been doing this for about a month and so far it's working well; am losing between 1/2 and 1 pounds/week, which is very good for me. I usually have coffee with almond milk for breakfast, a salad at lunch and then something for dinner...working well. Good luck!

You deplete sugar stores (in liver and and bloodstream) when working out and then start working on fat breakdown. Your body doesn't do "water first then fat" - it doesn't work that way. Furthermore fat reduction doesn't happen just at a workout; your workout burns calories which you can then capitalize on by not…

My favorite: Just made it over the weekend and froze some, am eating some. It's vegetarian (vegan) but you can add sour cream or yoghurt when you serve it; also can cut some sausage into it for your mate if he has to have meat. But I know plenty of meat eaters who like it just as is. Spicy Citrusy Black Beans - at…

Are you logging here on MFP? If so, consider if you're willing to open your diary; we can have a look at it and make better suggestions.

Quite the forum for a simple question :) I'm 5'1" and 57; I maintain at 1450 cal a day and can only lose if I'm less, so no, I couldn't lose on 1500 day. As many others have said it depends entirely on age, gender, weight, height, activity level. Cal in / cal out. Best wishes to you, OP!

Hi, I'm 5'1", 134 and looking to lose 24 pounds (25 when I started) - have some physical challenges that - well - challenge me! :) - but am in a better place at the moment and making progress. Support is a good thing - feel free to add me!

I agree with this. I have to remember to manage activity levels (less) on the 'fast' days.
-
I'm on it. I hit somewhere between 450 and 600 calls on "fast" days (try to target near 500) and eat at my 'maintenance' calorie intake on "feast" days. I've had 2 or 3 days where I've done the "eat anything I want" routine and gone over maintenance calories, but that's not typical...however even with two of those in one…

I'm in for 30 miles. Thanks for the challenge! Did 2.36 today (rounding down to 2).

Personally I'd tell her I find her behavior today totally unacceptable and warn her that continuing to carry on inappropriately about your decisions will disappoint you and make you less likely to discuss them with her in the future.

Drink lots of water. Also, I do alot of herbal tea. Warmer stuff seems to fill me up more...

Very nice!! Glad it's working for you!

Hi, I started with 5:2 for two weeks then ramped up to JUDD / EODD (every other day diet) about 3 weeks ago. A couple of responses: No, there's no reason to drink shakes for the first couple of weeks. In fact, on down days you want to focus on two things: (a) filling foods, like vegetables/high fiber/bulk (I do…

Another 13 surgery veteran here. Ditto guess on the meniscus, but double ditto on not basing decisions/choices on an internet forum. Like it or not your only "safe" choice for cardio right now is an arm bike as was suggested by another poster. I wouldn't even get in a pool, even if the option was available. The only other…

Hi, just found this thread a little while ago. I started 5:2 on 1/11, then read K. Varaday's book and switched to ADF/JUDDD two weeks ago (I've since been to Dr. Johnson's site). My ticker shows only 2 pounds lost but it's actually 4 (I was above my MFP "sign up weight"). So far, so good. Not too hard to get through the…

I started 5:2 4 weeks ago and switched to JUDD/ADF/EOD 2 weeks ago. Overall I've lost 4 pounds in 4 weeks with almost no exercise and find it pretty simple, with the exception that Ive had some GI issues - however, when I went to this WOE I was also switching from vegan to non-vegan (found it too difficult to do this sort…

Have noticed it's sometimes a trigger for overeating for me no matter which way it moves so have put it away. Plan to weigh once or twice a month because I do want the accountability.
-
Agree with (a) logging everything BEFORE you eat it; (b) staying hydrated (drink plenty) - and if all else fails, you might try fasting for a day - pay attention to what actual hunger feels like…and once you break the fast, look for that feeling before you eat.
-
Congratulations on your progress and fitness!

Agree, it was a very interesting show. I didn't know a thing about it. Ordered Moseley's book on Kindle and read it. Am digging out some of the research. In addition to whatever effects it has on weight reduction - which again comes down to math; if you restrict caloric intake by 60-75% 2 days a week and eat between…

Love reds, dry but fruit tones. Yum! I do a glass pretty much every night with dinner; sometimes two if it fits into calories.

It's way more than mine. It all depends...

Great thread title :) What others have said. Once a week, in the morning, post-"evacuation".
-
Fantastic - you look great. Congratulations on your achievement!

My diary's open/public.

Agree on using exercise to deal with stress. You can't "spot reduce" - but you can tone up - so start doing abdominals, obliques, and squats for the belly and butt/love handles. Lay off the high fat, high sugar, high salt...will just make it worse. Buy a yoga DVD.... Do long stretch sessions.... Take "breathing breaks"…
