  • That's incredible! Congratulations on all your hard work! Thanks for sharing your story. You look gorgeous!
  • I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I think you're beautiful. Your mom sounds dysfunctional enough that if my mom were like that, I would even consider cutting ties with her. That's really abusive. Best of luck.
  • I posted in the MFP forums a while back, as I was concerned about maintenance. I got some really good advice that I think you will find helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1198562-what-s-your-one-tip-for-maintainig And yes, I have since realized there is a monumental typo in the title... :/
  • I li,e how you put that... "earning foods that are high in calories." That's a nice way to look at it. Again, wonderful job!
  • That's amazing! You look fantastic! Great work!!
  • I would not use medication until I was 100% sure that I had done my absolute best to lose weight by exercising and eating healthier for an extended period, and probably not unless I was obesely overweight. You probably will not be able to maintain the weight loss once you stop the meds, so I don't see this as a healthy…
  • This x 1000. I am from Quebec, which unfortunately, seems to be the freakin' speedo capital of the world. I don't know why. It's horrible. I have yet to meet one woman who likes them. Please, please, do not wear a speedo. Ever. Women will make fun of you behind your back. I've been at beaches where women all around were…
  • Incredible. Inspiring. Beautiful. Amazing. Congratulations on all your hard work!
  • I was just reading this... see the 2nd section called, "Stop Doing That Exercise!" http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/12/19/stop-doing-that-seriously/ Excerpt: "Stop doing crunches and sit ups. I know you want a flat stomach, but you won’t get there with 1000 crunches and sit ups every day. It doesn't work that way.…
  • No doubt about it, they will be TOTALLY SURPRISED!! Great work, you look amazing!
  • Agreed. I'm 5'2" and have eaten 1200 (net) for 90 days. The way I have eaten has been sustainable and I have rarely been hungry at the end of the day (but if I am, I will eat over my cals, as I don't believe in starvation). I lost 16 lbs, but even though the last 2 weeks were nearly perfect, this morning I noticed a 1 lb…
  • Yup, mine is a 3,411 calorie day (when I'm supposed to eat 1,200 to lose). I didn't lose weight that week, but I didn't gain either, so all was not ruined. Here's a tip - read the calories *before* you put it in your mouth... it SUCKS because we don't want to know, we just want to eat it, but it really does help. I still…
  • Greatbadvice so far. I often don't drink at parties, and amazingly, get peer pressured constantly. I've learned that if you always have a beer bottle in your hand, people will not pressure you to drink... beer bottles are great because no one can tell if it's empty or if you've re-filled it with water. Just don't peel the…
  • Thanks. I might knock it down to 50 minutes, just to be sure. I had a near-pefect week and didn't lose any weight. So, either, I've made an error in measuring my food, or over-estimated my calorie burn. Since Zumba is new this week, I'm thinking that's it. Thanks for your feedback.
  • Take measurements and don't rely just on the scale. You won't lose the weight all in one place, so you might ot feel a big difference until you lose a few more lbs. Don't give up... "feeling" the difference is a really encouraging NSV (non-scale victory).
  • Oh, and I learned that I eat a lot more salt than I thought I did. Still working on that one, but it's been an eye opener.
  • This! I've also learned that there ARE exercise s that I enjoy... turns out I love Zumba and step aerobics. I NEVER thought I would look forward to working out, but that has started happening in the last week or so. (Before MFP, my slogan was, "The only time you'll ever see me run is if there is a bear behind me.")
  • People are naturally like crabs in a bucket - One crab can get out by herself, but more than one... they'll climb all over each other and pull each other down so much that they will all die in the bucket together, instead of helping each other. Your family is perceiving what you are doing as threatening to their way of…
  • I agree with the other responses so far. You might also want to double-check that you're really measuring/weighing your food accurately, though. If you're guessing or eye-balling it, that could be part of the problem.
  • Whenever electronics get wet, it's best not to turn it on until thoroughly dried... otherwise, you risk frying the motherboard. Instead, dry it as much as possible, then put it in a bag of rice: https://www.ifuncity.com/blog/2011/06/how-to-save-electronics-from-water-damage/
  • I like his idea too. But I would set a date to come back, and even mark it on your calendar. Perhaps ask some of your MFP friends to check in on you after that date. You're about to start a whole new phase of life, and that can be scary, but it also means new people in your life, which in this case, sounds like a good…
  • Look it up on WebMD.com. My mom has a double masters in nursing, and she says that's a reliable resource for medical info.
  • Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help. I will edit my log so that it works out to 350 per slice. T hanks again!
  • My biggest success has been when I log my entire day - including evening snacks - before I eat anything in the morning (or even the night before). If I get hungry or just decide to change something, I know I have to play with the whole day to make it work and that might mean giving up an evening snack, or trading it for…
  • They're both beautiful, so I don't think you can go too wrong. My personal preference is #1, as I like the simplicity. However, I think if you are big-busted, you might do well in #1, as it seems to make the chest look smaller (or at least, not enhance it). If your bust is moderate to small, then #2 could work well.…
  • So many comments similar to this one in this thread. The only thing I can figure is other people want everyone else to be fatter than them, so they try to discourage the people around them. It's the "crabs in a bucket" mentality: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=crab%20bucket I'm appalled at the stories in…
  • Look at pictures of yourself that you don't like... that's one of my biggest motivations. If you don't have any, take some! Look at yourself from behind, you might like what you see... (or maybe you will and all is right with the world! :) )
  • Me to a friend: "I've lost 12 lbs since Dec. 30!" Friend: "Oh, well you can't tell." C'mon, I've just told you something I'm proud of, you can't just say, "That's great! Congratulations!"???
  • I am no expert, but this came to my inbox yesterday: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/03/03/strength-training-101-how-to-squat-properly/
  • I've seen this on MFP a few times: http://www.acaloriecounter.com/blog/why-am-i-not-losing-weight/ Best of luck, Kim
