Fat doesn't take up more space than muscle.. 1 cm³=1 cm³. (see what I did there?) I think it's safe to assume that when someone says muscle weighs more than fat, that they also mean "for a given volume." 1 pound of fat weighs as much as 1 pound of muscle, but 1 cm³ of muscles weighs more than 1 cm³ of fat. Muscle is more…

If you convert 50 pounds to kilos you get 22.7, which MFP would display as 23, so I'm inclined to believe that's what happened, but why it would still be labeled as pounds is where I get lost. But, yeah, so that's where people are getting the "20 pound" number from.. they're getting it from what you entered on your own…

You could also "make" some weights.. if you have a couple of those cloth shopping bags, you could put 3lb, 5lb, whatever of canned goods into each and use them like dumbells

I've been here all my life, 31 years, and this is Earthquake #3 or 4--or something like that--that I remember. We don't freak out about snow though unless it comes in October and knocks out power across 2/3 of the state for 6 days.. no heat, no working gas pumps, no heat, trees and power lines down everywhere, no heat..…

As long as you don't weigh yourself before you get on the scale, you should be good. Doing that can rend the fabric of space and time and there are also theories that it can make calories count double

I'm going to be a slimmer version of myself.. I've been working on the costume for months.. I think it's fairly convincing

My main problem that I have with Aldi (and it's becoming more prevalent in other stores too) is that the meats that are such a "great deal" are actually "enchanced" with broth/"solution." What this means is they plump up your meats by injecting them with salt water. If you're ok with that, you may as well buy a flavor…

True, it wasn't a roach, but I also don't know who's mouth it had been in or their medical history.. if maybe their gums started bleeding while they were poking around between their bicuspids.. mmm HIV burger! Ya know.. think the roach sounds more appetizing :P

I buy ground beef in bulk (~14lb rolls), portion it into patties and freeze them.. while I was portioning my ground beef out last night I found a toothpick in the middle of it

I weigh daily-ish (mostly every day, but not always) and record it in a spreadsheet.. in that same spreadsheet I record my body fat measurements from the scale and have it chart my general weight loss, fat loss and lean mass loss so I can see a visual record of what I'm losing. If I see my lean mass decline more over a…

Quoted for posterity.. you'll never see a woman say that again LOL

If you could truly spot reduce, people that chew gum constantly would have very gaunt faces.. yes, you can spot train and the added muscle can make that area look better.. but adding muscle and not removing fat in no way can logically be considered a "reduction" as for the "so why do we do pushups and situps then"? I do…
