Are resistance Bands ok for starter weight training? I don't have the money yet to buy weights (5 birthdays this month and big family christmas next month) . I have some resistance bands and wondered if these would be a good place to start, whether they would do any good at all, would they build any muscle? If so could you suggest some exercise to do with them to get the most out of them? I should say I have been dieting and stationary bike for 3 weeks now.

Well, I'll state the obvious and say that anything is better then nothing. Are they better then lifting weights? no...do they create resistance and increase strength? yes. Could they, in a surplus of calories increase muscle mass? Yes assuming you increase the resistance bands to create a decent load for the muscle.
Again, I recommend actual weights, but if unavailable...there is nothing wrong with resistance bands.0 -
^ yea this
Youtube some band work out videos, but remember its only a start, you should be planning to graduate to free weights when ever you can0 -

You could also "make" some weights.. if you have a couple of those cloth shopping bags, you could put 3lb, 5lb, whatever of canned goods into each and use them like dumbells0
