  • My tastiest smoothie recipe is anything with a thawed yocream vanilla yogurt base, just add your favorite fruit and a bit of ice it's so delicious. A more healthy smoothie I like to make is: 1 cup vanilla soy milk (I prefer 8th continent light vanilla) 1/2 of an apple 12 grapes Small handful of frozen blueberries (maybe…
  • Most liquid calories aren't worth it to me, with the exception of healthy smoothies and protein shakes. The other big one I try to avoid is high carb snack food (chips, candy, baked goods, ect..) too many calories and not very satiating.
  • I don't judge people. I mostly look at food diaries for ideas I could incorporate into my own diet. It wouldn't bother me though if someone critiqued my diet diary, as long as they weren't rude about it.
  • Really you're the only that can answer this question since you know your financial situation best, but if you can manage it (maybe look at other areas you can offset the cost) I would do it. I can get so much more work in quicker and more efficiently at the gym than I can at home.
  • The best way to stay motivated is to remind yourself that if you quit you'll just be in the same position (or worse) in 6 months when you decide to get started again. It really is best to slog through even if the progress is slow. What you may want to do in the short term is try a different diet plan. Lots of people have…
  • I don't think you can debunk myths with other myths...
  • The easiest way I've found to get enough fiber in my diet is to eat a high fiber cereal every morning. I prefer kashi golean since it also has a decent amount of protein compared to most cereals. Another thing I've been eating lately is flatout brand Multi-Grain with Flax flat bread, it's 100 calories w/ 8g of fiber and 9g…
  • When you first start a diet, especially if you cut carbs, you'll see a large loss initially but it's mostly water weight. With the stats you gave you should probably be cutting at around 1800-2200 calories perday depending on how physically active you are. If you're still losing 4+ lbs per week after 4-5 weeks then you…
  • I'm a night owl, so it's pretty common for me to eat my last meal at around 9pm and not go to bed until 2-3am. I really think the best way to avoid late night hunger is to eat a bigger dinner. Save enough calories during the day to have a nice satisfying dinner that won't leave you hungry in 2-3 hours. On the rare occasion…
  • While I personally feel calorie counting is by far the best weight loss method, if you really can't get the hang of it try keto. Many people who do a ketosis diet don't track their calories because it is difficult to overeat on the kinds of food you'll be having doing a proper keto diet. Otherwise, just cut back on your…
  • It's really personal preference. I weigh daily, but only log losses. I tend to lose pounds in bunches. I'll lose 3lbs over a couple days and then be static or even up a little for 5-10 days before the next loss occurs.
  • Mine is set to public, but I just switched to MFP from loseit so I only have one day of data so far.
  • Hey, I was in a similar position a couple years ago. The best advice I can give Is to not to get discouraged. Even if you have a bad week, or even a bad month. As long as you get back on track you'll make progress in the long term. Good luck, you can do it!
  • Great job on your weight loss. I know how it goes for having to update your goal. My original goal was 200lb, but it was pretty apparent after I reached that mark that I still had plenty of fat to lose. I'm hoping 170lb will put me around 15% BF, if not I may have to reassess again. The stats are a little disheartening…
