I am a medical student studying for the boards and if anything the unrealistic expectation that is held of us if the reason why I had to put my health aside during finals and such, its not that we don't know any better but its hard to hit the gym after 16 hours of studying and running on 3 hours of sleep.

I agree. Personally for me above 4 is when I have too much fat on my body, because and when my 4's get snug that is when I get more stringent with my fitness routine. You are obviously on a right track to getting the fat down but being average does not mean fit.

I have that problem too, I sometimes eat nuts or dried fruit to fill the gap, still nutritious but dense in calories. Other times I say forget it and don't eat anything because I know I will end up eating junk.
