  • I just played with it. I LOVE it! Thanks for posting! Now I can plan my long runs.
  • Check out Divasdinners.blogspot.com. It's a group of ladies from my sister-in-law's neighborhood that gets together once a month to do freezer meals. They post all of their recipes on the blog and I happily steal every one of them! I've yet to try one I didn't like.
  • Our absolute favorite thing to do is to head over to Harmon's and pick up a veggie platter and a fruit platter. I splurge and get ranch dip and fruit dip and we all take turns choosing a fancy cheese with some crackers. Then we head over to the park and make the kids sit for a few minutes to eat our dinner, then I let them…
  • I live in Northern Utah and grew up in Southern Utah. I would never actually do the walk in real life (it's a 300 mile trip), but I like to tally my miles and see just how far away I'd be if I really had walked that much. Around here, there's a lot of history about the early pioneers that really did have to walk that…
  • Everyone has such great ideas! I just wanted to add one more. And it's a tough one. I've learned that if I get up before my kids (at least 30 minutes earlier), then I have the time to get my meals prepared for the day and I can just grab it. If I do that, then I'm sure to eat much better. I put all my food in a brown paper…
  • A bowl of cereal! Get something that has lots of nuts in it, too.
  • I have so many favorites! My two tops right now are: BBQ Chicken Salad 2 heads chopped romaine 1/4-1/2 c ranch dressing Mix all together in a big bowl. Add: 6 oz bbq chicken (I like either slow cooker bbq chicken or just grilled bbq chicken) 1 can whole kernel corn, drained 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed 2 chopped…
  • Great job! You look so wonderful!
  • I try to plan for it. Another great alternative is to try the oven baked "fried" chicken instead. Check allrecipes for some great recipes for it! Just be forewarned that most of those recipes will kill your sodium levels for the day.
  • 1 liter = 33.81 fluid ounces So for you're getting 50.72 ounces with 1.5 liters.
  • I was doing protein bars and shakes for a while and eating a normal dinner. I had to quit when I realized just how much sugar is in them! I couldn't believe it! Now I really try to replace the bars with lots of nuts. I eat pretty much nothing but cashews and pistachios for snacks right now (well, and gummy worms, but those…
  • I call those days maintenance days. Just be sure to keep within your maintenance limits, too.
  • I agree with what everyone else has said about Couch to 5k. I wanted to mention also that I had really shore shins at first when I started to run. It took me a couple of weeks of running to feel like I could break free from having that pain. I was also terrified of shin splints, but it was just the muscles wrapping around…
  • When's the race? If you can, try to get started on some 5ks first. I love the Couch to 5k program (just google it and you can find it). It's amazing for starting running. I'm currently doing the Couch to 10k program in preparation for a 10k on April 22 (talk about nerves on that one!). After that, I'm going to start…
  • Do lower back stretches! One is simply laying on your back and pulling your knees up to your chest -- one at a time if you need to. Hold it for a few seconds and repeat a few times. Another is to put your foot on a table that's about knee high and lean into it slowly and carefully. Do this on both sides. You have to…
  • Plan ahead and eat them before. Aim to be within 100 calories on either side of your calorie goal for the day. You won't lose weight as quickly if you don't eat them.
  • I'm a SAHM to four kids. 9, 6, 3, and 19m. I'm working hard to lose a grand total of about 40 lbs. My kids are pretty on board with it as long as I include them in it. I've been trying to do lots of protein things (like protein shakes and bars and tons of nuts) and my kids love it. They keep reading everything to tell me…
  • I haven't tried this yet, but I've read online that if you cut refined sugars from your diet, it should help.
  • I have four kids (8, 6, 3, and 1) and have a TOUGH time trying to get exercise in! My best answer has been to include the kids as much as possible. I take them for a walk around the block (put the babies in the stroller and make the older ones walk). It's kinda cold out, but I just bundle them up and give the babies lots…

  • I get stomach aches when I lose weight just from my body trying to adjust. Lately hasn't been so bad, but I also haven't seen a difference on the scale for a while. Typically, when I workout more it's not as bad. Hope that helps!
  • I got a running jacket from Costco a little while ago (I bet you could get one just about anywhere that sells running clothes). It has this great stretchy fabric that holds your keys in your jacket pocket. For the ipod, the jacket has a hole on the inside of the pocket to slide your headphones through. I put the ipod in my…
  • Eat a bowl of healthy cereal or something so it tides your stomach over until morning. That or else you're going to wake up starving and want to gorge in the morning. Your body is still burning calories while you sleep, so start it off right.
  • I've decided that the best way to look at mfp is not on a day to day approach. Definitely log every day, but don't count today as being who you are and the progress you're making (or not making). Look at the reports page. Figure out how you're doing over time. Sure, you may not be there every day, but are you making the…
  • Hey, chica! Welcome to mfp! It's such an awesome resource and you're going to do great! Let's keep tabs on each other. Bryan's on here, too. He's on my friend's list if you want to add him.
  • Here's one from Allrecipes that looks pretty good. Just use red potatoes instead of the regular potatoes and add a few extras. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Scrumptious-Baked-Chicken-and-Potatoes/Detail.aspx Read through the reviews for extra suggestions on making this particular recipe.
  • I'm not a fish person either, but I really love tilapia. Try this recipe: http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2008/10/fish-that-tastes-like-doritos.html. Another option is to wrap the individual filets in foil and slow cook them. SUPER yummy! I also really like Salmon Almondine, but I kinda had to build myself up to…
  • First thing: are you getting all your water for the day? Be sure to overkill on drinking water. Shoot for more than 8 cups of water a day. Go for like 3 quarts minimum. Also, according to Runners World, you should be aiming for 1500 calories to lose weight. If you do less than that, your body is going into starvation mode.…
  • Just be sure that when you are eating, you're eating good filling foods. Lots of high protein things to keep you better nourished. And just make sure you never go under those 1200 calories. On super active days, it's hard to consume that many, but just be sure to not go under too far all the time. Once in a while, it's…
  • Google square foot gardening. He teaches you how to get the most out of small spaces. Just click on the patio boxes section. You could also look into window gardening for your herbs. You get those old trading card sleeves, put some holes in the top and bottom so you can add suction cups to it, then put in a little soil in…
  • According to this website: http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/fitness/exercise/grooming-bathing-dog/ A person weighing 145 lbs would burn approximately 245 calories per hour grooming dogs. That would put it at 1470 calories for the six hours you worked. I don't weigh 145 (I'm actually at 170), but I count it at this…
