Add me! Same boat.

I'm in the same boat. Trying to lose 40 pounds and keep it off.

I try to be kind and treat people with respect.

Great thread! My small victory is just being in control of my eating. I cut a lot of carbs and processed foods out of my diet, and for the first time in over a year and a half, food doesn't own me. Congrats on your victory!

For the first time in a while (I lost a ton of weight 3 years ago, almost the same as OP's weight loss, and then gained 40 pounds back) I feel in control of my eating again...and I'm not eating to make myself feel better or deal with stress. I've gone lower carb and it has helped cravings. It gives me confidence to know…

I think about how I want to feel and look in order to be truly myself, not a person who hides behind clothing, or avoids social situations because I'm embarrassed of who I am. It's not always successful....I battle every day with food. But it helps when I feel down or want to quit.

Likes- tracking food (it's easy on MFP) Dislikes- having to track everything. I know, sounds crazy to like and dislike the same thing....I just want to be a person, not a track everything/consider every bite that goes in my mouth/stress about carbs and calories type of person. But unfortunately, I can't control my eating…

Lowering my carbs helped me tremendously. I am by no means considers low carbs (my carbs vary but are between 80-100). I feel better and it broke through my weight loss wall. I know this isn’t the answer for everyone but it is a possibility.

You look amazing!!! I loved your story and I appreciate you sharing. Sometimes we have moments when we realize a hard truth. Those moments suck. But you made the best turn around I’ve seen in a long time. Congratulations on your progress!!

I hear you on exercise. The only thing that I’ve grown to love is run. I’m not a fast runner. I’ll never win any races. But the feeling you get when I run is not like any other feeling.

Good luck!! Added you

Thanks so much, everyone. I understand that I am not a victim in this situation, nor was I suggesting that, even though others took it that way. It's a matter of finding a logical thought process so I can make a plan of action that will stick with me throughout my life. It's not rocket science, I understand that. But…

That's a very sweet, true post. I think we should always aspire to live a full life like your mom is doing!!
-
Welcome. I hope you meet your goals. Good luck!!

Hey there!! I'm a bit taller than you but had exactly the same stats last year (student, working, kids, 220 pounds). I lost 65 pounds in a year. I'm going to add you. Feel free to ask any questions. My best advice is to learn what works for you. Lower carb eating and walking/ running were mine. Good luck!!!

What's your diet like? Are you eating enough protein? If so, you might be gaining muscle. So, in essence, you are changing in measurements but not in weight. Otherwise, it's likely a plateau. I know it's hard to plateau but our bodies need to to adjust. One thing that helps me is to add calories (I know, seems…

Well, you're off to a great start!! Good luck and I wish you all the success in the world.

Hey There! I go for easy meals. I eat bacon and a hard boiled egg in the a.m. most days. For lunch, it's salads. For dinner it's chicken and veggies. I know it sounds boring but sometimes consistency is easiest. Of course, I add in things when I want but those are my go-to meal ideas. Wal-mart has ready-made salads that…

How are things going? Did you change your eating habits? Add exercise? Those would be my two tips. As far as eating goes, I like lower carb/low fat eating. I know that sounds contradictory, since most people do low carb/high fat, or low fat/moderate or high carb eating. I just feel better when I reduce my carbs. I don't…

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Pretty good.

This, unfortunately. I will say that I had saggy skin and it's slowly tightening. Don't think I'll ever have no flab but give it time after you lose the weight.

I started running when I was heavier and yes, it wasn't pretty. Lol. But now I love it. I run 3-5 miles a day, have lost 50 pounds, and my body looks better than it did when I was 20. Go slow, listen to your body, run on a treadmill to reduce wear and tear on joints and I think you'll do great!!

This. I'm 5'8" and currently 157. Around 150 or below my family thinks I'm on crack. Don't know why. Lol

I feel it. I feel less full, more energized (I think that's because my body has what it needs and not a lot of excess), and hungry between meals. I look forward to eating the next meal instead of eating mechanically.

All these judgmental people talking about being good examples ... I get it but I get the OP's view. We only have so many hours in our day. Each hour with our kids, especially with work and school, is a priority. Eventually we run out of time. Do we short change them or exercise?? And before anyone starts in on "get up…
